Eh...I will reserve judgement
Avon Barksdale teaching Wallace how to box, then Rocky takes over?
Im a huge rocky fan and it doesnt look that great to me. Much more excited for southpaw atm
I tend to enjoy most of Fuqua's stuff so I'm in agreement there. That said, the last Rocky movie surprised me so I'm willing to give this a shot. When it hits Netflix.
I'll probably watch this at some point. Looks ok and Rocky is classic.
You guys know this isnt written or directed by stallone right?
Wire cast dude. Doesn't matter.
I'll watch it and I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it.
this looked pretty lame until stallone pops in and then i went from "meh" to "hmm maybe this could be good". did the guy who plays duke/tony die? because he was both apollo and rocky's manager. he should be in this.
Wallace became scary looking. Avon became an older version of Cutty that doesn't look as scary as he used to.
"String- where the fuck is Wallace?"
Well now I guess we know.
Added to my "Download after blu ray release" list.
Hope it's good..

Just got back from seeing it and I thought it was fantastic. Very very well choreographed and directed to the point where I think it may win some awards.
Michael B Jordan was great in it and they really played to Stallone's age in the movie and thankfully he doesn't box or do anything physical.
I can see this movie spawning more sequels and eventually not even needing "Rocky" in it.
They really grasped the 2015 climate of boxing right down to the movie having the HBO timer in the bottom right corner for a lot of the match. They do the 24/7 stuff as well.
From an "actual" dramatic movie I'd put it second to the first Rocky. It's got like 95% on Rotten Tomatos as well.
I just hope in like 2021 in Creed IV he fights some ISIS boxer in Syria and at the end his courage cools relationships between the US and the Arab world.

this is the best movie of the year. almost a perfect movie. just fucking great. the cinematography of the fight scenes was amazing. tons of allusions to earlier movies for big Rocky fans like myself. did a great job of depicting the city of Philadelphia. only complaint i can think of is the guy he fought at the end looked like a fat out of shape loser.
Creed vs MadMax for best movie of the year rerolled edition?
Just got back from this, great film. Gave proper respect/homage to the rocky franchise but can easily see this as stallone passing the torch for a new creed franchise. I seriously wanna see Creed 2 and see wallace fight brodie and win.
Bodie's too old. He should fight Michael Lee ("New" Omar) instead. The kid that was in the same grade that went on to rob drug dealers and kill off Marlo's people.
Loved Rocky Balboa. Still think it's my favorite due to the story but this was a damn good movie. It's as good of a film if not better and honestly resonated with me a lot more(no homo).
Very, very rarely do I ever say this for whatever that's worth. Go see it if you haven't. It's worth seeing.

I fucking love the Rocky franchise. My dog is named Rocky. This was a fucking good movie. I love seeing "rocky" again. I felt like he wasn't quite as much Rocky as normal, but it was fuckin great. Especially when Rocky got the "bad news." Actor playing Creed was great and I liked his character a lot. Nothing made me cringe. This was fucking good man. This and Interstellar are my two favorites of the year.

Great movie, but holy shit did that girl's music suck.
Great Movie, loved it. I was actually surprised how good it was. Creed really catches not only the feels and drama of the old Rocky movies, but also the uplifting message and great training and fighting scenes. I would only criticise that the last fight fell a bit short and the actual boxing was a wee bit to unrealistic actioney. Now i can pretend Rocky 5+6 never happend and call this one of the best Movie series ever.
Rocky 6/Balboa was good, this is true to the series. I wouldnt put it above Rocky or Rocky 4. Been so long since I watched Rocky 2 so it's difficult to compare.
Only thing that does bother me is
Wallace Rocks. Barksdale rocks briefly. Stallone is still charming but he seemed to be a lot more slow-witted in previous Rocky movies.
Has a made-for-TV quality (including Phylicia Rashad and the Lisa Bonet lookalike) to it that didn't make it seem as epic as other Rocky movies, though. More like The Wire tribute/spinoff featuring Sylvester Stallone.
The 25 minutes or so devoted to Rocky's cancer reveal and the Baby Creed fist fight is arbitrary drama and needs to go.
I don't think this is an Oscar quality movie.
Movie was pretty good though I have a few nitpicks.
1 - The whole cancer thing was unnecessary drama. Just felt like they added something else just for the sake of it.
2 - End fight was kind of short and didn't have the weight of the "big fight". The fight where he beat the other kid (first fight) has more meaning to it. I thought they would tie in the kid from the opening sequence that beat his ass in the L.A. gym.
3 - Music wasn't as iconic. Felt meh.
4 - Whole relationship thing was also pretty awful. Rich kid living in a small apartment meets another black chick in Phili. Oh yea she sings to. Whatevs, they both have decent careers and seem successful. Let's get a cheesesteak and talk about my time on the streets when I was 6 before I grew up in a mansion.
Camera work in the fights was excellent though.
Pretty cool Stalone won the Golden Globe, not sure he deserved it over Shannon
This movie was good. Had a fitting ending too.
This movie was so good. How Ryan Coogler and/or MBJ didn't get any sort of award season recognition, I don't know. I love Sly but he was second fiddle in this movie.
I don't begrudge Leo his Oscar, but I could easily make the case that MBJ put his body through even more than Leo did to make this movie and gave a more layered and robust acting performance on top of it. He is going to be this generations Denzel.
Really enjoyed this movie. As stupid as the Oscars controversy was this year, uhhhh nominate Creed, MBJ, and Straight Outta Compton? Avoid all the drama?
Why is this hard?
For the same reason Utah Jazz won't qualify for the playoffs, if they don't catch up with Huston's 0.500. There's only 8 spots, and you don't get in just because <insert reasons>.
I would rather see they increase the number of nominations rather than start handing them out for some, more or less, BS reasons.
And I'm not defending them, I find Oscars irrelevant to my overall movie watching experience.
Renting this tonight with the wife and I am excited! We tried to see this in the theater after it was out for awhile, but it was sold out and the next week they stopped showing it...the joys of living in a small city.

Movie is great.
Movie was really good, but it got so much hype that I expected more and that is probably unfair. I thought the camera work during the fight scenes was amazing. Also, Lisa Bonet looks great, not showing her age at all. :P
