All I want over the first one is more tombs.
The Tomb Raider reboot is getting a sequel. Here's the announcement trailer from E3 2014:
And a gameplay trailer/demo from E3 2015:
It looks to be more of the same, and that's perfectly fine by me. Granted, I haven't played any of the Uncharteds, but for me, Tomb Raider is second only to The Last of Us for the action/adventure style of games. If you haven't played it, and you're a fan of action/adventure games, you really should.
Oh and it's set to release November 2015.

All I want over the first one is more tombs.
They've claimed in dev interviews that tombs will play a larger role this time around. You're definitely right, the tombs were not only optional but very forgettable in the first one.
Really enjoyed the last one and am looking forward to this.
Twitch hearthstone misplays.
Have they said how long it is exclusive to x box one?
I thought it was an excellent coming out story. I didn't like the QTE's and I would of preferred something a bit more open but overall the story and game play was excellent. Its not easy taking a legendary franchise character like that and telling a compelling origin story. They really nailed it IMO.
This still only on the XBONE exclusively.
"It's better to look ugly and win, than pretty and lose."
Its been clarified a few times that it is timed.
Its so dumb of them to timer exclusive it to xbox one AND release it on the same day as fallout 4. Makes it a no brainer to wait for ps4 version.
I didn't realize it was the same day as Fallout 4, makes it an easy to wait for PC on that alone
i have a hard time believing this is true
But they say Tomb Raider PS4 will release a year later, Nov 2016, and sell for $40.
That seems ludicrously stupid on Square Enix's part - release the Xbox One version the same day as Fallout 4, and release the PS4 version a year later for $20 less? But this is SE so its probably true.
Maybe it's not Microsoft that actually paid for the exclusivity... Maybe they owe Sony for the poor initial sales last time around...
they released shots of the 360 vs xbox one versions of the game, to be honest i'm kinda disappointed the xbox one version doesn't look insanely better. maybe its just crappy screen shots. at least her ass looks more defined in the xbox one version
Heh, you're kinda right. Maybe it'd be clearer if I wasnt looking at tiny images on my phone, but as for what I'm seeing now, only the second set shows dramatic dfferences.
Honestly with all the blur and filters they use in games I have a hard time deciding which of those are even 360 or One. But I'm also viewing in mobile.
Pussy bitch Draegan sold us out to MMORPG.com
Exodus underway to Rererolled - A Gaming Community
Oh and sorta fuck Tuco too.
Seems notably better to me, but shrug. Think it's more an indication of how good the original looked on last gen though - there's not too much room to make the original look substantially better IMO.
They released a couple gameplay videos a couple months ago (Gamescom). This one is actiony:
This one is stealthy:

been playing for 2 days, really enjoying the game so far at 10% in. Its pretty much more of the 2013 reboot, set in new areas and more lore/collectibles. Game pacing is great, lots of frenetic moments and then quiet tomb raiding puzzle/platforming that I really enjoy. Visually looks stunning, I expect the PC version to be jaw dropping. Lots and lots more tombs in this one, glad they went in that direction. Lots of little in game lore stuff like relics, collectibles, notes, etc that are all fully voiced and make a nice immersive experience.
The microtransaction stuff seems pretty irrelevant, you can buy booster packs with money and they let you get extra boosts to use against NPCs but I don't think you really need any of them. You do earn in game credits you can also use to buy the same cards, but at such a tiny rate I doubt i'll be able to ever buy more than 1 or 2 packs. There is a lot of crafting and perks in game just like the reboot, not sure if its more or less but seems pretty expansive.
All in all if you were a fan of the 2013 reboot/DE you will love this game, if you hated it well then no point in playing this its more of the same. Can't really give any reason why you have to buy this NOW and play it on xbox one, may as well just wait for ps4/pc version unless you only have an xbox. Surprisingly I am enjoying this more than Uncharted Collection, which I did not expect. I think its just a graphics and crafting/perks depth thing, Tomb Raider just feels more like a modern game which obviously UC1-3 can't do.

It looks kinda good but I haven't played the reboot, should probably start there. How long is the xbox exclusivity on this anyway?
Very happy to hear that spronk. More of the same is exactly what I was hoping for. Hopefully we'll get a hard date on the PC release soon.
Rise of the Tomb Raider coming to PS4 in | Polygon - assumed both were similarly delayed - seems weird to get a 3-6 month exclusive for PC and 9-12 for PS4.
watched this on twitch a bit yesterday, definitely looks like a lot of fun. Will be picking up on PC when I can.
Tomb Raider: SJW Approved edition
More like Tomb Raider: The Nathan Drake with Tits edition.
Calling me a Cunt is a lot like calling Hitler a Nazi, it's not exactly received as the insult you were intending.
Star Citizen referral code - [STAR-C3G4-2XMJ]
Well this is just weird... as part of the xbox marketing, microsoft is having 8 people stand on a billboard for 24 hours and twitch viewers will vote on weather effects done to them - snow, rain, wind, etc. This twitch plays shit is getting way too close to the Running Man for my comfort levels, I am getting Richard Dawson triggered
Vast improvement over 2013. Shits all over uncharted. tbh shits all over Fallout. GOTY so far imo.
Actual QTEs: 1
Hold up to win: very minimal, there are like 4 big 'action' scene setpieces of that type and all but the first one are pretty player driven, by the end they encompass all of your traversal skills which are quite extensive and feel very good to use.
If you just played the first one like uncharted and beat it, this game will feel very different.
If you 100%'d the first game this is more of what made you enjoy doing that, except that there's actually a reason to do shit that isn't just the straight forward linear path. The first game had a ton of optional exploration that felt really good, just most people didn't bother and it didn't matter. This game makes it feel meaningful.

Yeah, I think I got about 1/4 of the way through the first one before I started trying to collect/find everything. I may need to go back and do 100% of it before this comes out on PC. I should have time if it's not coming for another 9 months.
yeah i'm 30% in and no QTEs so far, i hate that shit. loving the game, i stopped playing fallout 4 and just playing this so I can finish it off, explored 4 tombs so far and each are really fun and cool with lore tied in. The zones are also just massive with a lot to do in any order you want, they made it a lot more open world-ish than the previous game. Some areas are behind locked equipment which you only get as you advance the story.
To be fair, there is one 'press Y to kick wall in' part near the beginning I forgot about, not sure I'd call it a QTE since there's no fail state or anything. The first like 30 minutes can be a slow burn/tutorial stuff, especially if you've watched the footage, but once you get into Siberia it's just open as fuck.
Twitch 75% through the game ish, action scene, can see the difference from 'press up and sometimes hit A' to this, where every action you see is me choosing to do what I need to to get away from the shit trying to kill me. The ones near the very end are LONG and utilize every move you have, they're great.
Also LOLOL at someone negging me for saying the game is good, real? GTFO of here with that playstation fanboy dogshit.
Edit: Fuck it, if you don't care about spoilers (not much plot here but still, location spoilers at the very least), this is the final 'action' sequence in the game, in the first game it would've been holding up and sometimes jumping, instead this is every traversal mechanic in the game being utilized.

Input lag. Nothing else lags, it isn't a configuration issue. Only effects this particular title. Talking about half a second before my character moves when I tell her to with my controller. Game mode set on the display, other games on my Xbox One and PS4 still work smoothly.
There are a lot of reports out there on this. It's pretty frustrating because from what I have played so far, it's pretty damn good.
weird, i don't have any input lag and I'm almost done with the game. maybe try playing it wired, thats how I play all the time
The Digitalfoundry video is slowed down a ton.

Try wiring your controller, only thing someone else guessed when they watched mine. I have my xbox right by my monitor so I never bother with the batteries.
The sales on this seem to be atrocious. Amazon already dropped it down to 50euros here(from 70), and that's like less than a week after release, which isn't a good sign. This exclusivity thing sounds like a really dumb idea in the end. Hope it doesn't compromise the release on other platforms, I'll definitely buy this on PC once it releases as people have been saying it's really good other than the platform limitations stuff.
My personal game of the year. Played through 100% and loved it. I hope they keep making more because Crystal Dynamics has a great formula here. I used a XIM4 mouse/keyboard and had no issues with input lag.
Going out at the same time as Fallout was stupid. Now that everyone knows it is hitting other platforms there is no reason to rush out and buy this or an Xbox.
Here's to hoping that there is a clause in their contract that if sales tank they can release it early on other platforms.
Not a fan of the Xbone but if the sales are as abysmal as suggested, that really sucks. By all accounts I've seen CD made one hell of a game, and it probably wasn't cheap. Not sure what was expected, though, what with its timed exclusivity on a flagging console, a week or two after Call of Duty and the day of Fallout 4.
finished the game (on normal), great story and ending and good sequel setup post credits scene. Fantastic game, loved all the lore and story and the way they wove it into the game. I think sales are probably going to be terrible but hopefully the PS4 and PC versions redeem it down the road, and Square doesn't do dumb shit like that in the future. Definitely worth a rental or whatever, took me about 25 hours to 100% the game but I didn't plat/1k GS it, since that requires survivor mode and doing some of the expedition (timed level replay) stuff.
The expedition stuff is actually pretty cool, basically tweak settings on the game with cards and try to beat challenges you select like time, or no deaths, or use only certain weapons, etc. I'm not big into replaying games but its certainly an interesting sub game, especially with stuff like the big head card which is hilarious
game does look gorgeous all the way through
Disappointed that PC release isn't going to happen for a while. Lol.
Started playing some before leaving to Turkey Day. So damn good.
Yeah this game is really good. Wow, what a surprise.
I will say, wait for the PC version tho it will look better. It has some framerate issues, and all the textures aren't as crisp as they should be. Gameply wise it's a really engrossing game.
It's like the best of Uncharted, with the crafting system of Last of Us, and the puzzle solving of Tomb Raider.
I wanna play this so bad. Fucking Xbone master race
Tomb Raider was my #2 game of the year in 2013 when it released. It had the unfortunate timing of releasing in the same year as The Last of Us or it would've been my game of the year for sure.
the only (minor) flaws I'd say were the tombs really didn't have puzzles, just stuff you had to click on in order with no real way of screwing anything up. But there were a lot of them so thats good. Also the upgrades never really felt useful or interesting, just minor stuff that basically unlocked as you progressed.
loving this game
It really feels like a mix of Last of Us, Skyrim, and Goldeneye.
Wish they'd hurry the fuck up with the PC release.
Still no release date for the PC version aside Q1 2016?
How are the performances of the game on the XOne? Any framerate issue? Worth waiting for the PC port as I have a beefy rig?
Got a 50€ giftcard to use this month and was considering getting this.
yeah I finished the game 100% and had no problems, there were one or two areas where frames dropped and it became a bit laggy (basically tons and tons of fire on screen) but loved the game. The first DLC - House of Baba Yaga - was announced at TGA too and will ship in January. I traded my game in already, but liked it enough that if the PS4 version launches with all DLC included I'd probably rebuy and replay.
i'd definitely pick this up over just cause 3, playing that right now and while its a bit more crazy type fun, you get completely stuck in 45-90 sec load screens constantly (every time you fail / die, happens a lot)
Thanks for the feedback guys.
Jumped the gun and bought it. Will start it after my Syndicate playthrough.
Someone spotted the PC version on Amazon listed as January 29, 2016. Here's hoping.
I am still waiting for a patch to fix the Input lag on Xbox One. Plugging in the controller did not help. Lots of folks are experiencing the issue.
Finished my Syndicate play-through yesterday, so started this today.
Only got to the first base camp, but holy shit is the game beautiful.
First tomb was nice, with the escape sequence keeping me on edge.
Thanks for the recommendation guys.
Oh, and I didn't notice any weird input lag on my end, even wireless.
I cannot think of anything else causing this. Digital version.
I didn't notice any input lag, Digital edition w/regular wireless controller. Finished the game in around 40 hours doing all side quests, tombs and crypts. If you're just out for the story you can probably be done in 15-20 hours.
Have my set-top box plugged on the HDMI in of the console, but the thing is always in sleep mode, never watch TV.
Physical copy of the game in my case.
Fired up to play it, just need to get passed this hurdle. It's unplayable for me right now. I'll keep monkeying with some settings.
I finally fixed the input lag. It was the Xbox one. Not sure if it was one, or all, that fixed it.
1) I no longer pass through tv through the Xbox. From what I have read, not only will your display quality suffer for tv itself, it also adds everything you take away while in game mode through its processing.
2) I forced HDMI through video settings and didn't use auto detect. Default was 640x480. So changed that to 1080p.
3) I hard reset the Xbox after clearing all the software.
It now is responsive and I can enjoy the game. Wirelessly controlled.
The software overhead on this thing fucking SUCKS.
Finally able to play. Game is awesome.
Glad you fixed it Ut.
Have been progressing slowly, escaped from the Gulag and saved the guy, nice twist at that point.
Aside from that, fuck caves, fuck wolves, and fuck caves with wolves.
Are there any other reasons to get an Xbox? I've got a PS4 (but mostly only for Bloodborne and The Last of Us), but I don't really play it much.
Not really. PS4 is better imo but not by that much, and having one is roughly equivalent of having the other, minus a few exclusives. Issue for me is Bloodborne is probably the best exclusive since Demon's Souls.
Yup, still no real reason that I can think of.
At this point, I have a Xbox just because I have the disposable income, and a PS4 and a gaming PC. Well and the Xbox is a better media player than the PS4 imo.
No, if I could stop sucking at aiming with a motherfucking pad. My old ass can't get used to this shit.
forza series is pretty good too if you are super into driving games but i think driveclub will be just as good for most people. if you are really into halo you can get Halo MCC and Halo 5 i guess, i was pretty disappointed in both after how much hype buildup Halo has gotten
yeah my xbone is like 10% of usage compared to 90% for PS4, but still rise of the tomb raider and EA Access make it somewhat worthwhile. i'm also so goddamn lazy I've started buying games on xbox one just so i can play on it without having to get up, eject the tray, and swap discs on PS4. someone needs to invent a cd caddy thing for consoles!!
Steam confirmed PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider in January. Hyped.
Same here, guess it must have bombed on x1 lol! Looks like a terrific game, can't wait to poop sock it.
Damn, I could have waited for the best version then.
Meh, I'll get it on a sale and replay it in a few months I guess.
Just finished this up yesterday before Sunday Night Football. I am really happy I fixed my input lag problems. Story, Voice Acting, Puzzles, tombs, etc - all top notch. I also like I can go back now and see what I missed. Pretty sure I hit every tomb. The tomb challenges were all top notch. Is it true there are only 9 of these? Am I missing some? I'll have to start exploring more maps and see if I can trigger any more just in case.
Overall, you guys waiting for this for PC / PS4 will be impressed. It actually looked great on the Xbone, which shocked me - and ran very well after I fixed the input lag.
Makes me want to fire up Tomb Raider Definitive and finish that game now on PS4.
there is 1 extra tomb near the end I think, I thought it was 11 or 12 but I could be wrong
yeah i'm playing uncharted 1 right now (remaster) and its a night and day difference between how much better ROTR is than UC1. Unfair I know, a 6-7 year old game compared to 2015, but still there it is. Be interesting to see how UC4 rates to ROTR, although the multiplayer in the UC4 beta was pretty awesome
Naughty Dog needs to start reinventing and quit relying on design methods from 10 years ago. I get that they are trying to create pacing (hard pacing) in a story, but honestly the answers they have given in interviews don't hold a lot of real world deployment light. And by that I mean... Let's use this example in Rise of the Tomb Raider:then at that point, I went to go futz around in 3 challenge tombs. About 2 hours later I went to do that particular mission. Now, Naughty Dog developers say that the pacing would be off and not highlight the severity of what was happening and the need for stricter pacing and makes that event not as believable.Spoiler:
I think that's garbage. I was impacted by the mission 2 hours after exploring some things just as much as if I would have hopped right to it. There is also an intangible here in which some time passes in game (As one explores) to get that mission into position into the first place - something Naughty Dog isn't taking into account.
Tl;Dr - Uncharted needs to reinvent itself and be more like Tomb Raider.
