Did this show get any better in season 2? I felt like season 1 was pretty meh and think I only watched like 2 episodes of 2. Is it worth catching up on?
Season 2 was a large improvement over Season 1, IMO.

Well, they aren't afraid of culling characters
I have no idea what I just watched.
Apparently they just wanted to kill any chance the show had with that first season 3 episode.
One of the big things with the season 2 finale was not only that New York and a good chunk of the rest of the planet 'destroyed' but they were terraformed into a very Votan friendly ecosystem Genesis Device style complete with creatures etc. Yet these first two episodes all we see if very great plains looking St Louis and Omaha.
Honestly if cutting out a good portion of the actors they have will introduce more cgi so we can see more alien tech, maybe some cool completely un-humanoid like aliens, kick ass alien space ships etc i'm all for it.
That was awesome. I like the Omec, I hope they stick around once all of their people are killed. Especially the girl who seems horny. I am dissappoint that Nolan didn't lay her though.
I hope those previews were for the entire season and not next week. Cause that's way to much for 1 episode.
Stahma and Datak united is going to be fun as hell to watch
pretty good start shoulda killed off linda hamilton and kept christie but oh well. that kid getting stabbed in the eye was a holy shit moment. i wanna see the arab purple alien hulk out and tear some shit up
this plus dark matter plus falling sky soon plus westwood is some serious crazy scifi this summer
Oh lawd. They did not just have Linda Hamilton say that...
That was awesome!
Good episode...it really did open up a whole new dimension to Nolan's character and why he is the way he is. Arisa may not forgive him for what he made her do as a kid, but you can definitely see where the lesson came from.
I was very amused by datak crooning to the baby about how the babies grandma likes purple enchanter cock I nearly spewed cola I was drinking when I read that.
I liked that we got to have some scenes on Casti before the exodus. They seem to finally be realizing that they have an opportunity to have decent character and plot arcs rather than just the boogeyman of the week shit they did for the first two years. Halfway through the episode I googled Tony Curran to see if he had another acting gig lined up...
goddamn datak tarr, that was some badass gangster shit
loving the omec and casti stuff too. good season pretty much means this show is going to get cancelled probably hope not, good writing and stuff this season.
Ya, I'm glad they got a 3rd season and hope they get a 4th. This season has been pretty uneven as far as special effects go, though, which probably speaks to budget. This past episode had pretty solid effects, but then they had shit like the Arch blowing up with 16 bit Super NES graphics.
Finally got caught up. How many episodes left in the season? I was thinking when the series comes to an end, they need to come back to something like this, where nolan is being shipped off to be executed. Anyway, i really hope they don't jump the shark freeing him.
Datak was right, though...Nolan basically killed their best chance at a peaceful alliance because he is insane ATM due to the PTSD+the Votan tech in his head, so now they need to pray the extremists don't use her as a call to arms to wipe out the town/humans.
I predict that Tevkin will get rescued and use Omec magic-tech to revive the vice chancellor thus brokering peace between the VC and Defiance as well as the Omec...
Until asthe season ending stinger the other Omec show up! Not the ones from Tevkin's ship, but Omec who have been on Earth for thousands of years and engineered humanity as a food source less likely to be rebellious like the Indogene. Thus explaining vampire/werewolf legends and why humans look like and can breed with Votans.
This episode was pretty damn dark, especially the end. Fucking cliffhangers ;p
Kind of felt like a series finale instead of a season. Hope they get renewed.
yeah, was that a season or series finale?
Farscape style spinoff!? Even have pilot lol
I think that worked well as a series finale in case they never make any more. If they do, however, make more they could easily:
Felt like a series finale, the ratings are not that good and its gotta be an insanely expensive show. Was a bit odd to go into Star Trek: space, the final frontier mode for the last minute but it was cool looking I guess. The Omec story line wrapped up a bit weakly I thought, kinzi ended up being super 1 dimensional and the rest of the omec were all retards so that was not interesting. The omec were very poorly done in the last episode, at times they were terrifying unstoppable monsters and other times a chick with stitches was mowing them down. Datek and Stahma's story felt unfinished too.
All in all a good series but not great.
Hope it's not a series finale, but if it is, I guess that's a good place to end it. If they come back next year, they can explore whatever weakened omec survived on earth. Odds are they will be more reasonable. Do you think they'll pick up in a few years when nolan and doc ywell make it back, or would they do a season without him in defiance, but with a story arc where they're coming back? I agree with Q that they need to bring in a doc ywell clone if they do a season with him gallavanting around.
When Irisa said it was a ship of intelligent beings I laughed.
I like the show but if that is all we get, I am OK with it. Could spin things off though and have he space adventures of Dr Ywell, and Earth Adventures With Dr. Ywell(02). 2x the Ywell = 2x the fun!
Do they have enough episodes fro syndication?
Also, can anyone remember what the casti word for pussy was? I loled everytime they talked about stahma's magic pussy.
Show officially cancelled, can't blame SyFy though it was rarely very good although the finale was nice and wrapped stuff up pretty cleanly. Dominion also axed. Expanse and Childhood's End are due in Dec, and 12 Monkeys, Killjoys, and Dark Matter all were already renewed.
Syfy Canceled - Hollywood Reporter
This was interesting
On the pilot/development side, the cabler has Incorporated, from Matt Damon and Ben Affleck; David Goyer's Superman prequel Krypton, as well as Hyperion, Brave New World and 3001: The Final Odyssey.
damn, Hyperion and 3001?
Disappointing, but the season finale did double as a decent series finale. They must have seen the writing on the wall and decided to give it a cleaner end. I'm disappointed to hear about Dominion...I rather liked that show.
