Cancellation in 3....2....1....
Really, is the Supergirl character going to be enough to carry a project like this?
I thought the character existed only as a halloween costume / cosplay idea for chicks to dress up as.
Supergirl is a character that can really exist as almost 90% highschool/college/countrygirl in big city drama. Unlike superman, who grew up in Kansas, and is more human. She IS an alien(AND a teenager), and her learning to socialize is really the prime focus of the character.
Who is behind the basketball texture costumes? and why do they keep getting a job?
the design is very retro. would think this is set in 1950 from that outfit...
The textures are all wrong. and the color is very dark.
The comics are pretty good for Super Girls story. She's actually a very interesting character.
Unlike Clark she wasn't born to earth bound parents, and relates to us as aliens. Which means she doesn't understand earthlings cultures, and will do stuff like walk around naked because that is something that isn't a big deal in her warrior cast.
Stuff like shopping etc is totally foreign to her. So in that way there is a ton of humor that can be injected with her relationships with Humans.
The other part is, unlike Kal-El she has no obligation to protect earth. This is only something that Kal will teach her later.
Being that powerful from a warrior cast that is used to battle, and then coming down to earth where everything is extremely fragile makes for many interesting story arcs.
That being said, I doubt any of that will be in this tv series, and I doubt they will give it the Flash type budget it needs to show how powerful she can be with villains that can test her to her limits.
never heard of this girl but someone said she was part of the fappening??
This is basically a cw super show like flash and arrow. It shares some of the same people and will have a crossover with flash/arrow. I like the costume. It looks like the same blue shade as the man of steel costume. I also think it may have superman cameos.
A crossover would be kind of difficult I think, are you sure? Different networks don't really cross the streams other than just a mention perhaps. I'd love for it to happen, but I am doubtful.

SUPERGIRL Deal Was Made Specifically With FLASH/ARROW Crossover In Mind
SUPERGIRL Deal Was Made Specifically With FLASH/ARROW Crossover In Mind
Arrow showrunner Marc Guggneheim says it's possible for CBS' Supergirl tv show to crossover with Arrow and The Flash. Executive producer Greg Berlanti reportedly has it in his contract that Supergirl can crossover with his other superhero dramas.
Apparently, when Greg Berlanti struck a deal with DC Entertainment to develop a Supergirl television series for CBS, he did so with forward-thinking in mind. Berlanti reportedly has it written in his contract that Supergirl can appear on Arrow and/or The Flash. This is scenario is more than possible, it's probable as CBS and Time Warner each own 50% of The CW. Another common thread among all three shows is the fact that Berlanti is also using Rappaport Casting to fill key supporting roles and main characters on each superhero TV show. Guggenheim also acknowledged the possibility of Supergirl appearing in Starling City and/or Central City in a recent interview. Realistically, Supergirl is the only show that could crossover with Arrow and Flash, given CBS' connection to The CW. The other DC TV shows may all fall under the DC Entertainment umbrella but Gotham, Constantine have different executive producers and air on television networks with no shared relationships. Another possible addition to the Supergirl/Arrow/Flash triangle is the forthcoming live-action Teen Titans drama being developed by TNT, which is also a subsidiary of Time Warner. However, that particular adaptation is being shepherded by someone other than Berlanti so the odds of it crossing over with Greg's trio are not as likely.
For now, the next key phase of development for CBS' Supergirl will be selecting the right actress to play the Last Daughter of Krypton. Could a casting announcement be made at the Winter TCA's which are currently convening as we speak?
Supergirl is a frumpy soccer mom? Who knew?
We deserve a Supergirl that doesn't make every young male wish she wore a mask.
Melissa Benoist | The Fappening: The Second Cumming
Those are straight up porn shots.
This cosplay ruined all future supergirl's for me
That's all her costumes throughout the years. The statue is the current comic one.
As mentioned, the character is pretty interesting and has a lot of potential, although writers usually squander the potential when writing for her. So we'll see how the TV show goes.
I just want to see some cosplau catfights
CBS has officially given the greenlight to the first season of “Supergirl,” set to star Melissa Benoist in the title role. The precise number of episodes has not yet been revealed, but the pilot is expected to debut on the network later this year.
Benoist leads a cast that includes Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw and, in mystery roles, Dean Cain and Helen Slater.
Hailing from Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions (who also produce the hit DC Comics series “Arrow” and “The Flash” for The CW), “Supergirl” is based on the characters from DC Comics and centers on Kara Zor-El, who comes to Earth after escaping the destruction of Krypton. After many years hiding her abilities, she joins the ranks of her cousin Superman to become the hero she was meant to be.
The pilot episode of “Supergirl” was written by Ali Adler (“No Ordinary Family”) and Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash”). They will also executive produce along with Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros. TV.
Man that girl has a potato face ... bad casting there - I prefer an actual hot supergirl.
damn you'd think supergirl would have super titties
Powergirl has the super tits.
She looks better as Mockingbird than she did as Wonder Woman. I suspect its the terrible makeup they did for that promo
On my planet, the 'S' is the symbol for sucks.
They took a pretty girl and made her look plain for the promo shots. Good work, idiots...
Who did you dress up as for Halloween? Failed superhero tv series during the era of Marvel. How'd you manage that? The guy who wrote Man of Steel probably did the costume design.
Starts awful... kindof endearing by the end. A little bit lifetime.. but overall, like it quite a bit.
Looks lame, but whatever. It's obvious they are targeting fat housewives with this one.
In the shot I think I see Braniac. Shame, looks like they have a nice budget going but they can't even afford to put eyebrows on that one woman..
That trailer did not do it for me. I believe I'm gonna be skipping this one.
I'm one of those who enjoys the dark, realistic comic book shows as well as the more light-hearted stuff so I don't have a problem with this. I laughed at the lesbian line.
I am glad they went the lighthearted route with this, I don't think Supergirl works in a grimdark setting. Although the relationship nonsense will be even more present than in Arrow or Flash I am sure. CGI didn't look bad, but that goes with having a bigger budget than what the CW gives out. She works more as Supergirl now that I see the show in action then when it was just her first photo reveal. Also wtf happened to Callista Flockhart's face.
this looks like it would work for a target audience
Looks like market saturation to me. Jesus.
looks good to me, knowing that arrow, flash and LoT crossovers can happen in this series is also a big plus.
Calista Poptart looks fucking awful, like Harrison Ford exposed her to the Ark of the Covenant.
That trailer is pretty bad. I'm sure I'll watch at least the first couple of episodes, but my expectations are really low at this point.
I thought it was alright but this forum is obviously not the target audience.
I thought it looked better than i expected, and since it's better than my expectations, i'll watch it. I'm a sucker for superhero shows.
The show definitely looks like it'll appeal to SJW's. "Girl power, yeah!"
Realistically, it looks lighthearted like the Flash. No idea if I'll like it, but I'll give it a chance.
Who am I kidding? I'll watch it. I don't know that it will be good, or even interesting, but I'm sure I'll watch it simply because it is a superhero show, just like all the others. Can it be any worse than the Fish parts of Gotham?
Why is Jimmy Olson black and middle-aged professional? I prefer the goofy "dumb kid" intern version of Jimmy Olson myself. But I'll watch it.
Also, she revealed her "secret identity" to no less than three people in the trailer alone. That's just weird.

B.Net: TJT#1179"Let go your earthly tether. Enter the void. Empty, and become wind."
Think this trailer is much better. A lot of the revulsion is they way they presented that original trailer with that horrible vagina music playing in the background.
Looks like they are going full orchestra for the series.
It's pretty much like I imagined it, definitely going for a different demo then the Arrow show, I never thought they would want a sexpot Supergirl but more like Peter David's version of Supergirl ( without going into the whole matrix thing) but a bit wholesome and naive. My wife thought it looked good and my son thought she was cute so guessing they will be watching it with me.
I'd really be interested if they are going to share the universe with the CW, I see no reason why they wouldn't its all the same behind the scene producers . I think the occasional appearence by the Flash would fit easily, hell Cisco would be in heaven.
I never followed the comics but did she replace Clark or something? I liked her in the cartoons but this looks like they literally just turned superman into a female. Same job, personality and did she grow up on a farm?
Was she that identical in the comics?

But lets give it a go.
Kara Zor-El from Kandor City Krypton.
Her father Zor-El is Jor-El's brother. She was 14-16 at the time of Clark being born, and Krypton blowing up. Also placed in a rocket and sent off.
But due to black hole/time shenanigans, she was in cryo much longer, and her ship didn't arrive until he was 25-35.
So, while she is chronologically older then him, shes only 16 or so in maturity.
She also grew up on Krypton, and has only been on Earthy for generally a couple years. (depends on when in history you are talking of course)
She was very alien compared to Clark, and really kindof alot like how Starfire is depicted in Teen titans go. A bit of a childlike wonder, and having no clue on Earth culture.
classic Kara, would spend ALOT of time in the future. Going on trips with the Legion of Superheroes in the 3o and 31st centuries. Making out with Brianiac 5.
Kara Zor-El dies fighting the Anti-Monitor in Crisis on Infinite Earths. this was in 1985.
Matrix Supergirl. in an Alt Earth a non evil Alexander Luthor creates a shapeshifting artificial lifeform. Original, he has the Matrix imitate Lana Lang. Physically, and mentally. She took the form of Supergirl to fight the Zod, Faora, and Quex-Ui of that world, when they escaped the Phantom zone. Failed. Lex sent Matrix to mainstream universe to recruit help. She got Superman, but the world died. Superman took Matrix back with him.
Matrix Supergirl was the Supergirl of Earth for a while. She has shapeshifting, telekinesis, flight, etc.
Linda Danvers-Earth born angel Supergirl. Cultists try to sacrifice Linda to a Demon. Matrix saves her. Bonds herself to Linda to save her life. Linda becomes Supergirl. There is also some religious connotations here.. Shes "the Earth Angel of fire"
Standard flying brick powers of Supergirl. has a crush on superman. "technically" not his cousin, although if he knows this or not is not really noted... They get married in one alt future.
New 52 Kara is back. Then she went Red. Then she worked in a coffee shop.
(Theres the whole new Kandor thing too.. so she was back before this. but I forget the circumstance of that. which is part of the anger issues KArloff was talking about.)
so this show is sortof blending Kara and Linda. Characterization seems almost entirely Linda. Small time very human farmgirl in the big city. While Kara is usually more Starfire as noted. "whats a fork?"
Powergirl is ANOTHER alt Earth Supergirl. Earth-Two.
Starts the same, but when her rocket went off course, she aged. So when SHE landed, and Superman was now 35, she was 23.
Her Superman was a bit lower powered. The Justice Society, instead of the Justice League. The 1940's characters.
Earth-Two was destroyed in Crisis on Infinite Earths. She was effectively the only survivor. Weird "atlantean" retcon that we don't talk about. Retconned back to, Earth-Two refugee.
That's a lot of Supergirl reading there.... I only read the PAD series,'which I thought was excellent. Prior to infinite crisis I always remember her being a bit boring. I remember she co-headlined Legion of Superheros for a bit was that during one year later or after? I lose track after brightest day pretty much.
Why is it every time I see the phrase 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' my brain fogs over and my eyes go cross?
I can pretty much guarantee that Supergirl will not be in the same universe as Arrow/Flash. From the trailer, it seems pretty clear that Superman exists in that show, and has existed for a while (hence the "old" Jimmy). I'm pretty sure we would have heard if Superman existed in the Arrow/Flash universe.
Supergirl does indeed exist in the same universe.
She didn't grow up on a farm. She grew up on a Kryptonian colony. She arrived here as a teenager, our culture is completely alien to her.
pretty sure if greg berlanti is in charge of the show and the network is owned by time warner then there can be crossovers
Well if they reside in the same Universe they certainly do not live on the same earth. In DC now there are 52 earths each with there own history.
There is no way Super-Man would be out in the world, and not one person in central city ( especially Cisco), or Starling city reference him ever even in a joking way.
Also the series producer's say that Super-Man may be on the show eventually as a guest character.
When she arrived yes, but the tv series doesn't pick up at that point. This is years later when she past even college. By that time she would have situated herself into our culture. She didn't grow up on a farm. She grew up on a Kryptonian colony. She arrived here as a teenager, our culture is completely alien to her.

Pilot leaked online, you can find it in the usual places.
It's very girly but you can't really expect anything else. CGI is pretty good, probably the best of the current TV super shows.
She's actually very very cute, knees well rounded.
As long as you go in understanding that it's a show that's mainly aimed at teenage girls then you won't be upset.
I found this rather enjoyable. To me it has the same appeal as izombie, in that it's aimed at a female audience but there is some things on the show that appeal to me.
That fucking trailer did the pilot NO justice.
CBS may have itself a real winner with this one.
Holy Fuck, that was fucking amazing. They absolutely should not change a thing in that pilot when it airs.
How much can this show be costing CBS because it was non stop special effects. They had more action in this then the whole Bradon Routh film.
I can't believe they brought the comic to life this well. The girl playing her is perfect.
If you follow the comics they just let loose a shit load of lore from it.
Vartox in the first episode, god damn
I must had watched a different one, because the Pilot I saw was a bit of a mess.
The CGI looked really shitty in places which normally I don't worry too much about except they filled half the episode with it.
The pilot felt so rushed, squeezing way too much into it and jumping from one thing to the next. Would have been way better as a two part opening, but even then there's just too much.
The overall premise seems decent enough and don't see too much wrong with the casting. Not even Flockhart. Hopefully it smooths out once the show actually starts.
I'd have to dis-agree with that. It's 100% aimed at the comic book/ super hero movie crowd there is no doubt. I can only see the new breed of nerdy girls really getting into it.To me it has the same appeal as izombie, in that it's aimed at a female audience but there is some things on the show that appeal to me.
The tweens that are into twilight I bet will pass. It doesn't have the tropes like the angsty male character, and the girl constantly trying to win his affection at the cost of her own self esteem.
It's definitely more on the Buffy side of the nerd spectrum. So it will pull in those woman.
On another note,
I can't believe they already referenced Invasion in the first episode. I wonder how much they are going to do with that story line. Love to see Superman's clone eventually in this.
Watched it liked it. Showing it to the kids and wife tonight
For fucks sake, in the JLU cartoon she stayed a thousand years in the future so that she could be her own person.
I enjoyed the pilot. Cant see what they have in store in the fall.
I hope they don't change anything to please those people tho because then it will become very bad.
It's proven right now, follow the comics and you will be a success. Cater to Agraza's of the world and you will 100% fail.
Also I read they have access to the whole Super Family cast. Zod will probly be coming soon, and a young braniac 5.
They have a lot to work with in this tv series.
If I do watch this show it's because of the very nice ass she possesses.
Well Supergirl comics were written by males in a era were DC was famous for cheesecake. Tits and Ass
She Hulk was also super popular for Marvel.
You are trying to equate something to comics that hasn't even come into existence until the last 10 years. Comics has always been very male centric, only recently have they started trying to bring in a female audience.
I think it's more of a problem of you equating anything with a female lead as 100% having to be girly. Female leads can be fine, and still be strong for both males, and females.
Stuff like Danger Girl, Buffy, Wonder Woman etc..
Dude I'm sure it doesn't make you gay to like girly stuff, in this day and age who cares anyway even if you are?
I don't even know who this is, probably because I have a penis.
Yup, it's for girls dude.
If you think that the idea of targeting female audiences is somehow something that's only appeared in the last 10 years then I don't know what to do with that.
The only things starring women that are targeting male audiences are coming from the porn industry.
That just sounds like a confidence issue on your part.
Like I said in comics the early characters were specifically targeting male audiences with tits and ass.
Your view on entertainment is skewed because you are afraid that people will call you names or something. Isn't Tom Raider one of the more famous UK leads in a fantasy world to begin with? What does that say about the place you live if you think like that.
You could take the same standpoint on cartoons, as you do Female leads. Are you a child because you watch DC animated shows? because cartoons in america are still considered for children.
Grow a pair man, and like what you want. A male who can beat the shit out of anyone doesn't give a shit.
