Starring and written by the great Will Forte. It's a show comedians love, so the plebs probably won't get it. Hopefully it lasts a while because if it gets canceled I'll be super fucking bummed about it.
Trailer makes it look so-so, but some of the other clips are awesome.
I checked the first two pages! I THOUGHT IT WAS ENOUGH!
I liked it. But I liked it best when it was just Forte by himself. Him pushing things over for no reason makes me laugh really hard.
i was lied to vis a vis the title of the show
This show was good. This show did more for woman rights than Agent Carter did with the stupid man vs woman bullshit. I give it a B+
I enjoyed it, not sure how much Kristen schaal ill be able to handle but it was pretty good for a pilot

I thought the first half was mildly amusing. But I had my doubts that the show would have longevity with just Will Forte talking to Wilsons. Then Kristen Schaal showed up and things really picked up -- two years of no human contact then finally discovering another living person - only to find them completely annoying.
The proposal scene was damn hilarious.
I found this horribly unfunny and turned it off, shortly after the chick showed up. I guess you have to like 'cringe, haha that's so embarassing' humor.
I couldn't get past the pilot. Just way too boring. Kristen Schaal is the voice of Louise in Bob's Burgers. Amusingly she is the only actual female out of the voices for the main 5 characters.
Holy shit alone time was boring, fast forward if you want to save 18mins of your life.
You know i think you're supposed to hate the girl (as evident by them using the hottie from true detective), but she's more tolerable than the guy.
It's like a room full of retard men sat in a round table and said.
What do we hate about a women, that if we had to, would bang.
1. corrects our grammar
2. follows the rules
3. makes us do chores
4. makes us do things
5. thinks she right
I'm confused, am i supposed to hate her? cuz he's more annoying. I don't see how the both of them can carry this show.
I think Forte is a comedic genius and MacGruber will always be one of the most underrated comedies ever.
That said, the scene where he rams the hardware store after explaining that everything is a parking spot? I was dying. The bowling scenes as well. So far, I think this is pretty hilarious.
It was funny at moments, but definitely annoying at others. I realize her character is supposed to be insufferable, but when she was using improper grammar to correct him or with the parking spot scene.. I just wanted to slap the shit out of her.
The majority of her other quirks are understandable at least, while still being annoying. Wanting to follow some rules or have a semblance of civilization is fine, and that can still be a point of contention between them. However, giving someone shit for parking in a handicap spot when there is no reason for those to exist anymore is beyond asinine.
I can't stand her, but almost everything he does is funny, and probably something I would do.
End of episode 3:
Yea.. the end of the episode was something I kept thinking of as a 'wouldn't it suck if..'
all these post without the key & peele skit!!!!,this show has much potential

Im guessing forte doesnt die any time soon?
I hope more people show up and it leads to factions. The proper new government faction and the Phil's "I don't give a fuck" faction. Could be great them splitting up a city and resources, imagine fucking Phil with power over other people. It'd be awesome.
You know they're gonna go back to the annoying bitch was right, he did run the stop sign.
I jut wanna know why'd they choose to live there? Pick a place with better access to water and fertile soil and shit. Maybe close to a lake or sea so you can fish.
This show is surprisingly good.
I like January Jones as a non-bitch too.
This show has a great premise too bad it is on Network TV, the place where good comedic premises go to die. If this show was on FXX it would be 10 times better.
anyone still watching this shitty show? I could actually do w/o the main guy, he sucks.
I was big on the show for the first 3 eps. I watched 4 and it just came off as a "I'm going to rape you and murder my now wife" feel. So it was pretty fucking awkward for me. I downloaded the other 2 and waiting to watch those.
Were the first episodes good? I just caught the most recent 2-3 when the gf was watching it and they were horrible.
I think consensus is the first episode, which is just him fucking around, was awesome. Unfortunately that's not an entire show. Since then it's almost becoming standard sitcom type stuff. The only saving grace is if you like Forte and his Forte-isms, which I do. Most won't.
He is becoming more unlikable each episode though, which sucks. Everyone loved him in the first episode and felt relatable.
naw the first eps weren't good either, just a bunch of retard writers throwing all their ideas into a pot.
lets have him fuck up a nice house!
lets have him not care about RULES!
lets have him not just talk to one Wilson ball, but many balls! wow
it's like a bad reality tv show
the hot one
the fat one
what's the fat one doing today? "oh he's just off being a fatty fat"
the writers "could" have done something, like write actual characters, but instead they just crank a character trait to 11 and that's the character.
the character traits are so dumb, that it makes me think this is another old FOX show from the 90's herman's head, where there are 4 character traits inside a guys heat, and guess what?
If there's 2 more characters will you say this is just friends and Will Forte is obviously Joey?
I did read it. And yes they're fully written characters. They live in a world with 0 society. The only interactions that are going to show you their level development comes from interacting with the other characters. There are no outside forces besides their group, and basically, Phil and Carol. Everyone else is happy being with other people but Carol and Phil want to mold their society into their own desires.
At this point, I'm wondering if they are gonna just add a character every single episode.. With Todd, the title has become a lie and basically a gimmick to garner attention for the show's premiere.
I remember seeing the previews and thinking there was no way they could sustain it for a full show with just one guy, but at the same time why not name it something else?
I also agree that with the most recent episode, Phil has become a lot less likeable. I'm hoping the others show him how good he has it now by leaving him out of the loop for a few days, and he stops being so neurotic. Like, Carol pretends to leave him and moves in with Todd/Melissa for a few days, which makes him realize how shitty being alone is again. If it was just him being buddies with Todd instead of competing and showing all the stuff he did before the others showed up, that could be funny again.
Plus, given some time to think about it, both guys kinda need to fuck both women for genetic diversity. Gonna have inbred humans within a generation or so either way, but if a couple other people show up eventually it could dilute it enough to not cause major problems.
Well as a possible spoiler, one of the episodes is titled "Moving to Tampa". Considering January Jones is only listed for 8 episodes and that episode is the 8th episode since her appearance, it is possible her + Todd will move to Florida and just leave Phil + Carol for now.
I'd bet they're moving because why the fuck would you pick Arizona. Though Tampa doesn't exactly sound perfect either. Maybe that's kind of a running gag of the 2nd class cities they keep picking.
Ya, Florida with no AC would suck balls. I mean, I can understand wanting to live somewhere warm, but why not pick areas of Cali instead of a damned swamp? ;p
The main problem with this show is that it is just downright fucking depressing. Every single thing just barely misses working out for the main character, and instead ends up in almost the worst possible result. There is never, ever a "win" for him, and without that, why would anyone want to keep watching? Even shows where someone is generally terrible to other people (let's take House, or Dwight Schrute) allows them to win once in awhile, or at least make us root for them against an even worse antagonist. Phil is the worst person on the show in terms of how he treats others and the things he does, there is no one worse than him in pretty much every social measurement, and he continues to dig himself a deeper hole. Even if he eventually winds up finding happiness or achieving some sort of victory, it has to be more than once a season. People will have stopped watching by then.
I literally finish each episode of this show and ask myself why he doesn't just kill himself. Granted, I loved the first episode, but I realize they couldn't have sustained that. But what is the point of the show? Even if lanx is correct with his theory, it is not going to be worth watching long enough to get there.
You can't have a show that is so dark and depressing that people feel bad watching it. And that's exactly what episodes 2-5 have been. I'll probably keep watching for January Jones at least, but man, it is a struggle to even press play each week. You *have* to give the viewer some hope for the main character to get a win along the way, even if it is just a tease here and there. There is zero hope in this show.
That is part of the reason I don't think the "Phil is alone and everyone else is a figment of his imagination" theory will pan out, primarily because that would be depressing. Don't forget they decided to nix the dead bodies everywhere angle because of that very reason.
Find it a bit weird that he doesnt switch house's at all, I mean if a had a pool filled with shit outside, I wouldn't be living next door to it if I had a choice.
If Phil was played by Larry David would it be better?
LD always has some sort of logic backing his shit. Like he's an asshole because he does the logical thing against society's mores that he doesn't believe make sense. Phil is just being a greedy retard in the last few episodes. If this was anyone but Forte or Arnett I'd definitely hate him.
I am bothered that the show title is now a lie. I expect them to kill off todd with a heart attack or something. I wonder if he can still even get it up without his diabeetus medicine.
I don't know how long you can sustain that, but it really was the best
There's still some laughs, but they're getting fewer and further between as the show goes on.
Trying to think of something positive for Phil in this double episode, and coming up blank yet again. The *most* I can come up with is that he realized Todd is a nice guy and couldn't just leave him there to die. Other than that, just Phil being a fucking dumbass.
Unrelated, but I couldn't help but think how nasty milk straight from the cow actually is. Sure, if I hadn't had it in years I might think differently, but I'm still a little dubious that it is actually orgasm-inducing.
I really hope they do SOMETHING to utilize Phil as something other than just "the dick". I think they need to add another dick character so we can rally behind Phil and his dicking. Yeah I know what I typed.
People drank raw milk for millennia. In fact, some hipsters still do drink it, although they forget pasteurization was invented for a reason ;p
The show tries way too hard to make Phil a supreme shitbag. The show is a lot like the over the top "evil" responses in most RPGs. "Hail, traveler!".." FUCK YOU, I DRINK THE BLOOD OF CHILDREN!". It's pretty ridiculous and I'm really thinking this is leading to a Herman's Head moment.
For some reason, the subtle "maybe next time you'll Rock the Vote" had me dying.
Watching the previews for next week's Better Call Saul, I got a little confused and almost skipped past it because I saw Todd and thought it was a commercial for Last Man on Earth.
I gotta say, as shitty as phil is acting, I can't blame him one bit. Who among us wouldn't have wanted to fuck them both, but mainly the hot one? He needs to revisit the whole repopulation thing and get them to agree to swap before more people start showing up.
If he was less awful I'm pretty sure he'd have banged them both on the first day.
I was trying to figure out how It's Always Sunny manages to be so great with all 5 of the main cast members being douchebags of varying degrees and this fails with only one. Even the nice characters aren't likeable.
This show was so much better before it was just another comedy centered around an asshole. If it doesn't spice up in the next couple weeks I am out on watching it.
Just got renewed for Season 2. Hopefully Forte will shape it up to be a little more than "3 people and an asshole". I'd like to imagine a humorous version of Walking Dead sans zombies. Or throw zombies in. That would also be okay.
This show is just straight up bad. I cringe the whole time the show is on and they truly know how to run a bad joke into the ground over and over and over again.
This is the same recycled garbage that every current comedy show is. I remember when comedies were funny. Now it's all this same stupid ass jokes.
Binged the first 8 eps. I think it's pretty good. I give it 3/5.
10x better than the shit from Two and a Half Men or Big Bang Theory.
Sup, Monica. Don't forget to register at re rerolled
With a few exceptions (Billy Bob Thornton episode) BBT hasn't been very good in years. And they renewed that thing for another 2, god bless them.
Well, at least he finally divorced Carol (at her request), although the way they kind of left it off, I could 100% see Phil eventually going back to her.
Hopefully his arc of being a horndog douchebag liar is over. Now he can just be a horndog weirdo! I still want more people and factions to break out with Phil some how leading one faction.
I could see the two new girls disliking Carol, and (hopefully) this means Phil gets along with them in a partying kind of way, but without feeling so guilty this time. He's a neurotic asshole that lies to get out of his previous lie not working, but all because he's trying to hide how he really feels. If he gets an avenue to just be honest ('all I wanna do is get drunk like I did before you all showed up, but also have some sexy times!') maybe he'll stop being such a lying douchebag.
Finally a halfway funny episode, although I'm open to the suggestion that it was only *more* funny than the previous ones, and not really funny objectively. But having other people take some of the spotlight, like Todd being jealous of studly-Phil, helped make it less depressing and unfunny.
Phil on the billboard was episode 1 quality laffs. Hopefully Todd and Phil band together and Phil2 and the new chicks leave.
Wow, Carol was actually kinda hot in that dress.
I really like this show. Not sure why it receives so much hate here.
Most of the hate stemmed from the fact that 80% of the show was Phil being a dick 24/7. Now Todd is starting to turn to the insecure Phil...er, I mean Tandy...darkside since Perfect Man Phil is a threat to both of them ;P
I've enjoyed the last couple episodes, show definitely has tons of potential and factions looks pretty good
Tandy and Tod have to shank new Phil. The only reason Tod is with the hottest girl is b/c of "dibs" and Tandy is a horrible mess (but he could still get some play). Or hopefully we'll just see new Phil alpha male his way into the pack, that'd be cool, and at least interesting. It's a Fox show, so i doubt asians exist. (it'd be another blatant horrible stereotype anyway.
Melissa's time is at an end. I am guessing she dies or runs off with the new guy.
Since you admit every other show is recycled too, I suspect your standard for originality is a might high. Out of curiosity, what was the last one that wasn't recycled comedy?
Veep is pretty much the only comedy I watch now. I tried this for a while because I felt the first two episodes were great. It was a different setting with different issues and it had the opportunity to be an awesome show, it just didn't pan out for me.
I tried Silicon and felt like it was more of the same recycled stuff. Admittedly, unlike Last Man, I only watched one episode of Silicon Valley.
Seems like no matter what show is on these days everyone says its the same recycled jokes which isnt the case even with Silicon Valley

And you don't think veep is recycled? That's what I'm wondering about. I mean, if you dig deep enough, everything is recycled. I forget who is supposed to have said it, but "There is nothing new under the sun" is true. It's interesting that you draw the line for how far you're willing to look somewhere between veep and LMOE.
I'm really glad I'm easily amused, because I just can't imagine going through life like that. I'm curious what kind of books and movies the "recycled" people like, because a huge percentage of them are just a retelling of The Hero's Journey, so why even bother?
I think he's trying to say, or at least I hope he is, that it went from a show about a guy in a completely empty world to two people. Reasonable. Then as they add more and more people it becomes much more like a standard sitcom in a different setting. Right now it's 4 girls and 3 guys living in a community deal with intersocial issues. I'll admit it's opposite of where I hoped the show would go, but overall necessary. What they need is to get rid of milktoast people and add in community of people of Phil caliber selfishness. THAT would be great, I think.
Don't get me wrong, I like the show because I'm a biiig Forte fan. Like, way big. The only reason I watch this show is 100% him and his mannerisms. If some one else was starring in this show I can honestly say I would not be watching it.
I watch it despite how much I hate forte. He makes me twitch. I think the only recurring character of his that I've ever liked is the guy paired with sudekis doing the ESPN cuatro play by plays. But to be honest, it's sudekis who carries those skits, forte is just a good foil.
I'm not sure you thought it through if you really expected it to remain will forte only. Though, I do agree it would be funnier if everyone in the community was a bastard like phil.
Nebraska with Forte was really good and I loved the Macgruber skits
So Seinfeld was the same recycled stuff? Friends was insanely unoriginal, maybe one of the most unoriginal comedies ever
I'm pretty sure by now in order to make this horrible show palatable we have to look at it through the eyes of the 4 women, like we have these 3 guys to choose from, 2 oafs and 1 adonis.
I mean ok, fatty mcfat was a nice guy, but once the Adonis came into the picture, fuck him and Tandy.
We might have to just look at it as a phrase, would these 4 women fuck Tandy if he was the last man on earth? yes, would they if they were given more options? no?
How bad is it? fatty mcfat is a better alternative.
I just want to close out this season and finish the last episode, this is a putrid show.
Tandy is such an asshole he should have fucked all these women the first day from my experience
