It's not a reboot in the film industry but I guess we'll have to take it...
I've always been a Daredevil fan and think there are a lot of good stories to be told.

I'm hoping these marvel series are good, but based on all the other Netflix series, I don't have high hopes.
Orange is the New Black was entertaining enough during S1, but I couldn't get through more than 2 episodes of S2.
Marco Polo is not good... it's just not good.
And Hemlock Grove was one of the worst TV shows I ever forced myself to suffer through (and only because House of Cards had given me such high hopes of Netflix being the next HBO)
I've really enjoyed Marco Polo. If Daredevil is on par with that, I'll be thrilled.
Trailer is out, looks great
First reviews have started coming in, sounds positive:
I know it’s still early in the year, but I’m calling it now: The most beautifully choreographed fight scenes of 2015 will be on Netflix, courtesy of Marvel’s Daredevil. We’ve seen the first four episodes, and this show is like no other comic book adaption on the small screen yet. The beauty of Netflix is the freedom it allows—Daredevil gets as dark as the source material requires. It’s so dark, it’s almost a better Batman show than Gotham, and that show actually has Batman in it. If nothing else, Daredevil will rule the comic book TV landscape for years to come.
Lol at the end about the "iron suit or magic hammer."
Looks great, especially Kingpin.
I can't wait. I hope its fantastic.
Punisher series would be fantastic....don't think Thomas Jane is doing anything right now is he?
He's doing the Expanse series on SyFy, but who knows how long that will last for him.
If it's SyFy it's either 1 season or 7 seasons. There is no in-between.
Reviews of this are starting to pop out everywhere. It sounds to me like it won't disappoint at all.
Daredevil is the best (and bloodiest) show Marvel has made yet | The VergeBut each blow comes with the speed and precision of someone more than human. The fight is hard and intimate — bones crunch and blood splatters — in a way that takes a toll. It’s the kind of spectacle you wince at.
Tomorrow can't come soon enough.
Yeah just from that opening you can already tell this is gonna be a darker than the rest of the MCU.
I have to go to bed so I can get up for work in the morning, but I really, really want to stay up and just watch all the way through. Great first episode, great main character, and great tone/ambiance. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this. Like Column, I probably won't return to the thread until I'm done watching it, and that can't come soon enough.
I liked how they tied it in with the Avengers slightly, just enough to let us know it is in the same universe without dropping any names. I was a little disappointed that they didn't show us his "sonar" in the first episode though. They have to show us that, don't they? Or are they just going to leave it alone and let us just assume it is like all the other unexplainable super powers?
Anyway, thumbs high after the first episode, looks like Marvel has hit another one out of the park if the rest of the series is like this.
Definitely darker than most MCU offerings but I find it kind of strange that cursing seems to be forbidden in a show that has no problem depicting realistic violence.
Wow this is a lot better than Agents of Shield. It is incredibly dark and very atmospheric while still staying grounded in the MCU. Could be great things for this shared universe.
i'll be binging on this tonite and the weekend- in between building my son's science fair project, i got the waterwheel -wheel- done, just have to build the rest of the base, connect the base to the generator, then assemble the fake river (using a 3" pvc pipe sawn in half & an aquarium filter to simulate the riverflow. we are showing how much difference the gear ratio make in power generation-using an old printer motor for the generator and a computer case fan to show the power generated. then just using basic math for gear ratios- or in this case diameter of the motor "gear" vs the wooden disk and then saying, for a 3" disk you get x revolutions of the motor per revolution of the wheel, for a 4"disk you get this many, for a 2" disk you get this many.,..and then convert it up to something that would power an entire house using batteries to store the power)
For as well as this series is done here's hoping they will bring a good Punisher series to life and most importantly a really dark Moon Knight series.
When they referred to the "incident" I puzzled for half a second before going "Oh right... New York got fucked up in the Avengers" which is actually somewhat easy to forget given that they don't talk about that aspect much in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nice that they are using the massive reconstruction boom as the seed for a huge chunk of organized crime and corruption.

I just finished the first episode, thought it was really good. For a minute though I thought we'd see Jessicas tits but denied again.
Glad I have a 4 day weekend once I'm done with work this evening. Will be avoiding the thread until I finish, everything I've seen about the show so far looks really good.
To go along with the references about Avengers, in the 3rd episode or so there is a newspaper framed in a reporter's office that is the headline "Battle For NY," but can't make out much more. Little things like that being sprinkled around are cool. Only up through there so far but am keeping an eye out.

Oh and sorta fuck Tuco too.
Ok, posting my impressions after watching the whole series.
Want to preface this with I am going to be more harsh on this particular TV series versus say the network ones considering their budget was as high as Game of Thrones, and they can pretty much do whatever they want on the show without fear of censorship.
I also had very high expectations going into the series for the above reasons.
Did it meet those expectations? I would say no. I want to say I love this show, but I would be lying. There are definitely flashes of very exciting storytelling such as the "Sticks" and Final episode.
The rest is very mediocre. It is burdened by very average writing, and direction. There is a lot of very formula based TV direction in the show which is disappointing, I was expecting more creativity.
With the money they put behind it I expected some fantastic editing, sound design, smart dialogue, and artistic use of direction ( This is a marvel comic after all) It rarely show this in the 13 hours I watched.
For instance, I wish there was more scenes like the blind guy in the car with camera rotating around as Daredevil comes in and out of the scene.
That being said I still liked it. It just wasn't the show I wanted it to be. I was just expecting something more on the creative side, and the show is just extremely straight forward almost to the point of being dull at many points.
On the Daredevil suit, it looks great although I would have preferred they not covered the nose even tho that makes more sense in reality.
If I had to give one break out performance that would have to go to Vincent D’Onofrio, he 100% nailed Kingpin.
Pretty good start, impressed me much more than agents of shield. Going to take it slow a few episodes a day that way don't get burnt out.
No idea what Column is talking about. Then again he thinks Agent Carter was a great show. So yea. This show kicks ass, and one of the better shows I've ever watched. I would love to see a Punisher made by the same team.
You haven't even finished Daredevil according to your last post, you are like half way done...
Also comparing a network show that has half the budget, and a stupid amount of constraints to a show with one of the biggest budgets in TV history, and no constraints shows how dumb you are.
Daredevil should be exceptional, it should be far above any TV series in every part of it's creative direction given the capital they had to work with. It is not exceptional it is very mediocre.
Without spoiling the humanity they add to the Kingpin is crazy good.
Daredevil isn't the show we want. It is the show we deserve.
Assuming the budget is spread between the five series equally (although it would make sense to spend a little more on The Defenders miniseries), each episode will feature a budget of roughly $3.3 million. That doesn’t come close to touching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s ridiculous budget of $14 million for the pilot alone, but it is in keeping up with several other, high-quality shows.

aos costs 3- 4 million an episode, Daredevil clocks in at around 4-5 million an episode. Game of thrones is 60 million per season, and Daredevil was a whopping 55 million.
Daredevil is the show you want, I expect more. Game of Thrones is a beautiful shot show on every point of it's creative design from soundtrack to editing. Daredevil could easily be a network show.
Go to 9:30 in this video for the production cost
I'm rather impressed someone here was able to burn through the 13 hours of watching this the day it came out. How do you live man!?
B.Net: TJT#1179"Let go your earthly tether. Enter the void. Empty, and become wind."
I live Well. I did more then that for the last Marvel movie marathon, and I expect to do even more then that this year for the Age of Ultron marathon.
It's funny that people on this board that game away pretty much their whole lives, that take off work so they can play 24 hours on a newly launched game are perplexed that someone could take in a 13 hour series in one shot... A series I've been waiting for almost 2 years for.
I'll say one thing (three episodes in), that kid in the opening scene nailed the cry of despair.
So far this is definitely a series that's worth your time. Especially if you want something a little meatier than AoS.
I've never even considered taking time off of work for a video game or a tv series or anything like that. Didn't realize that was that common. Even here, especially as the board (people) has aged.
B.Net: TJT#1179"Let go your earthly tether. Enter the void. Empty, and become wind."
i've watched the first 3 episodes so far. REALLY like it..
First 3 episodes in, and solid show show so far.
I'll admit I had them playing in the backround while doing other stuff but is it really that weird? I hear of people doing marathons of LoTR, GoT, ect. not really that odd. And lets not talk about people that play games on release for x amount of hours
Up to episode8.. Still loving it
Is this a good drama if you're not really into comic books/movies?
I say yes. Any movies/shows you've enjoyed with having special powers involved? Show is pretty grounded and dark
I really, really wanted to like it, but I guess I'm in the same camp as Column on this one, much as it pains me to say that. Also, they lost me with too much preaching about the morality of what Murdock was doing, and the fight choreography is stylish but I think goes way too far into the absurd even for a comic book series about a blind vigilante.
To be fair though, I don't think it was a bad show, and if anything the reason I didn't enjoy as much as I hoped I would is because it stayed too close to the comics' DD. Punisher MAX is more my style. I'd kill for a Netflix show based on that.
Vorph#1334 - D3
Watched the first three episodes. Action scenes were pretty good. He gets his ass kicked a lot.
Dialogue is terrible. Cringeworthy really. And his lawyer best friend is a really bad actor.
I do agree with the partner sucking, worst part of the show for me.
Is this family friendly? Or, being Netflix, do they have gratuitous sex scenes?
If your kid is under 15 or likes to copy shit from tv and smash peoples heads in, or randomly beat the shit out of people then ya not family friendly. Lot of fighting, no full on nudity, and death.
A few swears too, finished the series, thought it was excellent, a few scenes never ever would be on network TV....
I would definitely watch another season.
I'm not going to lie, after 5 episodes it's mediocre in a lot of respects, it's pacing is odd and the writing is uneven. I thought Charlie Cox was great in Stardust but I just don't see him as Daredevil but I'm willing to let it go since I love DD, it's pretty much one of the few Marvel characters I enjoy and have read since the 70's as a kid. Plus it has Rosario Dawson...
Mediocre seems a bit too harsh, but it definitely falls a bit short of expectations. Still a fairly engaging show, and Vince really knocked it out of the park.
I just finished all 13 episodes, and I loved it. D'Onofrio was clearly the best part, I feel he nailed the part while still giving it a little nuance all his own that I never would have been able to "see" in the comics.
If the production cost figures of $55 million'ish are true, I honestly have no idea where it went, because most of that budget usually gets blown on special effects and CG, which there was very little of. I thought it was beautifully shot though, and I thought the writing was great, the actors were great, and the action/choreography was great. I guess I don't see the disappointment, unless you wanted them to duplicate very specific things from the comics. I thought it was fantastic in almost every way, and it made me wish the rest of the Netflix shows were out so I could blast through them too. To each their own of course, obviously not everyone felt the same way I did, but now you have another data point if you're trying to decide whether or not to watch it.
Hmm I seem to be alone in not really liking Fisk. I don't dislike the casting, as you can't really cast that character well at all. But coming from a background of only having seen Kingpin in stuff like the Spiderman cartoon from ~15 years ago, I have to say, I was disappointed. All throughout, it just seemed like Fisk did not have his shit together in the slightest. Complete and utter chaos, always having to put out fires, etc. And while I appreciate their desire to give him some (or portray the comic's) humanity, for me, it just detracted. I came in expecting the stoic badass crime boss, and I came away thinking ... bleh.
I guess the other portrayals I saw just did the character a disservice, or something, since I've never seen his comic appearances. But I really wanted something a lot more badass out of my Fisk, not this overly human flawed guy who was all-too-clearly way too emotionally involved in all the things.
Don't get me wrong, I love Vince as an actor, and think he did an amazing job acting out what they apparently wanted from him. It just wasn't at all what I was expecting, which left me a tad bummed. Overall fantastic season though, and very much looking forward to more.

Just about average in every way. It's worthy of a watch, though.
The $55mill figure is astounding for some rather artless cinematography and bland writing.
Hannibal is a steal at 500k per episode.
Felt a bit slow at times.
Couldn't get myself to care at all about Karen or Ben. Karen especialy made me roll my eyes more than a few times, dumb bitch.
And I'm with Seananigans concerning Fisk. Nice that they made him human and all, but it just really seemed he didn't have his shit together at all. He was barely in control of it all most of the time, and his whole romance subplot was cringe worthy.
Aside from that, very good action, wish there was more of it.
I think a few episodes showing him as the hard-ass completely in control crimeboss before they introduced Vanessa might have made him losing control seem a bit smoother.
I liked Fisk. We all learn from mistakes... He will be better next go round
I'm on 11, so almost done, but GoT calls...
Have to say, if this costs the same as a season of GoT, I would expect better. But it wasn't a bad show. I'd even say it was a good to really-good show, just not great and not groundbreaking.
Foggy sucks. I hope he dies by the end. Next season will be better without him.
Edit: Orders of magnitude better than POS AOS.

Could barely get past the first fight scene in the show. It was just too made-for-syndication generic ugh . After watching for a bit I realized that DD just won't work in modern day NYC since it hasn't been gritty in over 25 years. The show might as well be about a street performer in Times Square pretending to be DD for tourists for all I care.
Foggy wont die, I dont think he ever died in a versions of the comics really, I hope i'm wrong
Yeah I'm not sure what someone is wanting if they think the fighting in this show is bad. It's pretty top notch, overall.
Finished the season last night. Really liked it. Much better than AoS by far, and I am looking forward to the other Marvel stuff Netflix is producing.
Haven't finished the season, but really wish they had cut all foggy scenes by 3/4.
Thought it was pretty good overall. Some parts got a little boring, but I guess it can't be all action all the time. Would recommend. I did not notice this when I watched it:
I really enjoyed the show over all . I think the last few episodes fell a bit flat compared to the first half. Vincent as Fisk stole the show for me. I would have liked to see more of Rosario also.
I was wondering why he didn't have a cameo. Very sneaky.
Just finished it , not bad. Great fleshing out of the characters minus that chick from True Blood, well sure there was some side boob of her but nothing more then that =).
EVEN KINGPIN made mistakes in the comics, not many but he did make them
hell i LIKED Jame's character and wish they developed him more.Spoiler:
Marvel Heroes released a Daredevil costume based on his original appearance in the series and I had to buy it. :-p
So did I lol.
