If riding a T-Rex is end game content i'm in.
The Stomping Land's dinosaur survival MMO is coming to Steam this month - Massively
Jurassic Park the MMO? Anyone know anything? played it?
The concept sounds cool as fuck.
If riding a T-Rex is end game content i'm in.
wait. you don't play as the dinosaurs?
The whole MMORPG scene is starting to feel like the Final Fantasy franchise. We had a great run at the start, but now un-creative people are just milking the shit out of it.
If Dunmar and I can battle and cannibalize other tribes of player cavemen, I'll play.
close enough.Besides the usual features that we find in every survival MMO, The Stomping Land will also bring PvP content. Players that travel together will be able to form a tribe, share their resources and build a tribe campsite. Each tribe will have its own totem that can be upgraded. By upgrading the totem, players will be able to tame bigger and more difficult dinosaurs. This process will bring a lot of PvP as other tribes will try to raid your campsite and steal your resources and totem heads for their own benefit.

Sounds like it would be fun to play every once in a blue moon.
24 player servers does not make this a MMO.
Yeah it is basically a boring DayZ with dinosaurs, although very few dinosaurs from what I've seen. Pretty bare bones right now. Definitely was not what I was expecting from the articles I'd read.
nm, mick beat me to it.
Page 4 Necro.
Stomping Lands got removed from Steam today because the developers took everyone's $25 and split.
The Stomping Land on Steam
Score another one for the "Indie Game" scene.
Good news I didn't invest any money in this turd. Bad news I may never ride a Tyrannosaurus Rex into a pvp battle =(
I'm sure there's something in the fine print that says "You're only guaranteed what you see now" for early access games.
While I don't think Steam should be accountable for cases like this, perhaps they could have a better vetting process where a game has to be close to completion before being allowed to be an early access title. Something where they have to put up a feature list of the expected final product, and must have say 70% of it implemented. But then that puts a lot of stress on Steam to test and verify such feature sets for games before they are put up.Originally Posted by Steam
I think the benefits of the current system outweigh the negative in the end. You should always do your research before you buy something.
It's basically the Amazon school of though for books, applied to games. The idea that editors/distributors aren't needed, and foist off their most useful job (vetting professional productions/manuscripts; investing in potential new ventures/authors) onto the customers. Well, it turns out that the customers aren't very good at figuring out if a potential game pitch reflects a game that goes to completion. Customers in general lack the experience of evaluating game and teams, lack the information about the team's apparent ability to produce, etc. So they fail at picking games, except that Valve doesn't fully care since they didn't lose any money on it. The only risk they run is if people get really pissed at too many failed Greenlight Early Access and drop Steam as a platform. Which, given their Amazon-level grip on the digital distribution is increasingly difficult to do.
Except that, with Amazon, at least you know there's a book to download on your kindle. With Greenlight/Early Access, you're paying for the outline of a book on the promise of delivery of the book. There's a reason book editors allow only pitches of books from established authors that haven proven they deliver actual books with a minimum quality.

Your justification in life is merely self serving. Imagine if society was 100% people like you, fuck living in that place.
