The "Shit I just bought" thread.

So I "needed" a new mechanical keyboard.

Snagged a Ducky tenkeyless. Cherry Blues, Red backlighting.

Also some Oakley Inmates. Cause I wanted to look like Denzel.

Why do you have a giant mousepad for your keyboard?
an understated ensemble that puts the "b" in subtle

I'm not gay, but do you want a boyfriend? I'm married with kids. Hope that's not a problem either. They'll be joining us.

I don't think we'd all fit on the brochure.

Pretty sure that mouse is a decepticon.

And I bought an Nexus 10 the end of last week, waiting for it to restock and ship to me. Every email I get is a cruel joke as they are not about my tablet shipping.

I buy a ton of stuff, but my best recent purchase is the Asus N66U wireless router. Best damn router you can buy.

    And I bought this:

You could stick Gandalf, Frodo, and Bilbo on top of each of the three antennas.

Got my GF the Roku 2 XS and she loves its. She didnt want to spend $50 a month for cable and just watches Everything on Hulu plus, streams her movies she downloads from her computer and loves the Pandora app. Only thing thats a bummer is if you go through USB/SD it will only play x264 and MP4 but thats all the GF downloads anyways. $89 at best by is a pretty damn good deal and if you dont care about the USB/SD its only $49

Just picked up these and couldn't be happier. They are nice and light, the fabric breaths well, and that extra padding along the top doesn't leave marks in my balding head.

My brother and I just "bought" an Oru Kayak on their Kickstarter. We bought two from the first production run that ships in May. Pretty stoked, as I can't really tote a normal kayak on my car and don't really have room to store at my house.

So that Kayak...wouldn't it take on a ton of water along the "seams" that stretch from either tip to the middle? That looks like every time a wave or water came across the top of the kayak it would take in a good amount of it without the top of the kayak having waterproof seals.

Not sure about this thing, but kayaks are one of the most badassed forms of transportation, ever.

    From the page.

The single seam is sealed with a watertight rubber gasket.
Nothing shows just how that works, but that's their claim.

I'd be more worried about durability.

It also fits a standard size spray skirt, as far as keeping water out of it. They have had several demos out on the west coast where people got to take them out for a "spin" and it's all been very positive. They discuss durability as well on the Kickstarter page. These are meant for coastal/calm water kayaking and not white-water or rock gardening. I'll be sure to post a review once we have them in hand.

Those of us in the kayakening game call that a "pussyraft". But whatever floats your boat man.

    It is seriously cool though=)

They have had sectionals for a while (3 piece) the folding deal is new to me. Right outta high school I worked for a few companies building high performance olympic level kayaks, later I made wave skis and 1-man and 6-man outriggers canoes. The competition level equipment here is insane, lotta hi-tech builds and materials (epoxy / carbon / kevlar vacuum bagged laminations). Racing is a big deal here, biggest of the season is inter-island 38 mile open ocean across a seriously nasty channel with seas up to 12 feet. Winning is about ocean knowledge and seamanship, you have to catch and ride the swells or youll run out of endurance 1/3 of the way across.

1-man wave-ski (ocean kayak) south coast of oahu - tail end of the inter-island race.

    1-man outrigger

    4-man surfing canoe at Makaha

    6-man inter-island race

Anyway, I just got a 15" late 2011 MBP. It's sad that I don't get too excited about my computers anymore. I don't play games so much pretty any computer these days will perform well for me:

Nike+ Watch - Tracks how far I run, my times, calories burned. It's pretty awesome so far, if you go like three days without running it starts being like "Are you going to run today?" which I find hilarious. It also gives you a nice digital fireworks display whenever you beat a personal record.

I've been considering one of these for my house, but I am super over the top OCD with keeping it clean and in good condition. This is the type that anchors itself against a door moulding, yes? Does it leave any marks?

Yes it will, as the foam padding starts to wear out it will leave black smudges on your door frame. This is easily avoided by placing thick socks over the ends where it touches the wall. I've never seen any marks left by the top of the bar.

Yeah, I have a similar bar that also leaves big black smudges where the padding touches the frame.

    Nice.

What does the R mean? I nearly bought some Westone 4's a couple of years ago but went with Earsonic SM3 v2's in the end.

    Was a coin toss really.

Oh yeah, might as well add this to this thread. I really like this pic I took of The Walking Dead Collector's Edition that I picked up on this past Tuesday.

Finished off ordering stuff for my GF's Xmas stocking, a bunch of Lancôme stuff. She doesn't buy fancy stuff like this for herself (now I know why), but she loves it.

From January till June, I will be recycling pictures of the two and a half saltine crackers that I bought for myself.

Finally got around to buying a new bag. Other one lasted 4 years - hope this one lasts as long. Good balance of weight/give. Bought some new bag gloves as well, but they aren't worth posting.

Think it was $80 or something? Got it at a local sporting goods store. They had MMA bags as well (70lbs), but they didn't feel solid enough for me (they were much cheaper). This one is 80lb's and feels just about right. Need to find a good speed bag, but will probably need to order online.

Recently got a SOG Tactical Tomahawk. From the clymb http://sogknives.com/store/F01T-N.html should be at my house by the 20th, so along with the new shotgun I should be ready in case Lumie was right.

Why are there different bags for MMA at all? If anything I'd have thought they'd be sturdier for taking kicks.

I think its just marketing really. The "MMA" bags had UFC plastered all over them. The "boxing" bags were plain jane looking. This bag was 80lbs, but they make them up to 120(?) lbs I think. Thing felt like it didn't give any give... like fucking Van Damme kicking the tree in kickboxer.

The R is just for the removable cable. I had the Shure SE530's and have now busted two cables on them so I wanted to make sure I could replace the most easily destroyed part of the IEM.

EVGA 660 (non-ti) for myself. Santa left a Dell shaped present under my tree, so I thought I'd grab something to replace my GTX 460.

A few weeks back I bought a beater Taco to turn into an offroad toy. It gets dirty.

So I got this power steamer for my brother for Christmas, and got one for myself. Holy fucking shit is it awesome. SO MUCH STEAM.

    My brother:

    Me:

    Engine bay:

I can't believe how much ass the thing kicks for $100. Everyone who gives even half a fuck about their car should get one of these.

What exactly does a steam cleaner do to a car, other than maybe clean the upholstery if you have cloth rather than leather seats? Curious why you are apparently using it on the engine.

I live in New England, and this is a 12 year old truck. As far as the engine, It gets the salt, old oil, various fluids and road goop off of it. Mostly because it looks better, but it's also a lot easier to find/diagnose leaks and such if the engine bay is clean. It's also a lot nicer in general to work on a clean motor.

As for the interior, I have Car OCD and I'm a neat freak, so even though this is just my winter car I want it clean (at least on the inside, heh, it's actually covered in mud on the outside right now). It's not just for the upholstery, it gets dust/dirt out everywhere. I did my vents, headliner, dash, carpets, shifter, steering wheel, etc, etc - basically every surface in the truck. The previous owner was a smoker, and the thing smells like a new truck inside now. The fabric's a little wet here, but check out the door panel, keeping in mind that the previous owner was an absolute fucking filthy slob who apparently listed "smoking marlboro reds, 20 at a time, with the windows up and never washing my hands, ever" as his hobby. The thing looks brand new.

It also does an awesome job of getting squashed bugs off the front end, and helps a ton with cleaning your wheels (brake dust), calipers, etc. It's just a fuckin' great way to clean your car all around, and it's only $100.

Will probably have to look into getting one of those, as we also have pretty cold weather here and working on a filthy engine is just annoying.

Got a $25 dollar Amazon card and wasn't sure what to buy with it. Settled in some Fit Flight shafts and flights for my darts. Supposed to be way more durable, and I shouldn't have to deal with them popping loose.

I got "MyPillow" for Christmas, because I've had some trouble sleeping on and off over the last few months. Only used it a couple nights so far but it's been better than a regular pillow for sure. Is resistant to absorbing warmth, which is nice because I don't wake up in the middle of the night and feel the need to flip it over or grab a new pillow. The ads also say it promotes more REM sleep, but that could very well be BS. Will do a full review after a month or so if I find it effective.

Universal Remote model URC-WR7. Decided to finally go for a universal remote after having to regularly juggle 4-5 remotes for the cable box, surround sound, TV, Blu-Ray, Etc. This remote works wonderfully, and does exactly what I was hoping it could do. I set up macros for the top buttons to do automated commands so I don't have to hear anymore bitching from the fiancé, parents when they visit, or any other guests. Not to mention it makes things a breeze for myself. Aux button up top switches the TV to input for 360, switches the surround sound to the 360 input, turns on the 360, and allows the remote to control the 360. DvD button is programmed to do the same for Blu Ray, and Sat / Cable is for cable works likewise for Cable. There's also punch through commands for things like volume, if you only want the volume buttons working for surround sound. For 25 bucks, I'm VERY pleased with this purchase.

I bought the Zagg PROfolio Plus for my new iPad. It's pretty awesome, I like the dedicated row for function keys and backlite keyboard is pretty boss, you can change it between something like 7 colors.

I have the same remote and love it, but stopped using it because it can't open my DVR list and my Cox DVR remote can do the stuff that I mostly care about, like volume punch-through. The macros are pretty nice, though.

Bought a bunch of Icebreaker merino wool insulating layers for skiing. Shit is unbelievable, seriously. I have huge problems with sweat management, and this stuff does an amazing job of wicking away moisture while keeping you warm. On top of that, it doesn't smell. Compared to my older synthetic layers, it's night and day. A synthetic shirt will fucking stink after a single day's use, while I recently wore the same merino wool shirt for 5 straight days of skiing and while it didn't exactly smell fresh, it didn't stink either. My long-johns were synthetic, and despite most of my perspiration being on my upper body, they absolutely fucking stank.

Shit is like magic. Doesn't have to be Icebreaker, necessarily, which I agree is fairly overpriced. But if you're big in to any sort of sports where perspiration is an issue, throw all your synthetic shit away and go with merino.

Only reason I bought a bunch of Icebreaker is that www.liveoutthere.com had a 50% off sale a couple weeks back. Awesome website to sign up to if you do much outdoor activities, by the way.

I made a beef roast in it tonight, did a pretty nice job, I like the built in probe it comes with and you can program it to kick into "warm" once your meat reaches it's desired temp so that's pretty nice.

Bought one so I didn't have to hear the Macfags in my house keep threatening to buy me an iPad. Been going all nostalgia reading old school comics on it. Really digging it, never had a tab till now.

Busy people have to pay extra to expedite their wank so they can focus on their next task. Only so many hours in a day.

Just got a pair of these:

    with a fiio e7 + e9 DAC / AMP

Going from a pair of Razer Megalodon's is quiet the jump in quality. They are light as air as well and ridiculously comfortable.

Considering my Razer Megalodon's broke in 4 months, I can't imagine anything not being an upgrade from them.
