SEC - Bama
PAC - Oregon
B1G - OSU
12 - Texas
ACC - FSU
On the 1 year anniversary of the CFB 2013-2014 thread, and the end of the NCAA Basketball season today, it's time to kick things off for the new season.
Mizzou would like to kick things off by suspending their star player and Heisman hopeful WR, Dorial Green-Beckham today. Rumor around Columbia is that he got into an altercation in the wee hours of the morning involving a female. Not known if anyone was hit or not, but someone called the cops(not the girl) and witnesses are being questioned.
This is his second offseason suspension, last year it was for getting arrested smoking weed in a car. If he actually gets charged with anything, his college career is officially over and he's just training all year for the NFL draft next season(where he was projected to be the #1 WR and a top 10 pick, that's going to be tough to do if he doesn't play this year)
so............. S E C !!!!
SEC - Bama
PAC - Oregon
B1G - OSU
12 - Texas
ACC - FSU
I'm most interested in seeing what Kifin does to the Bama offense. If it is a totally new and un-Saban like approach, or he is reigned in and conservative. Could be a pretty big shift in thinking down there.
Secondly interested in Malzahn's second season. Both from a developmental standpoint of our offense and personal, but more so the leagues response now that we're overall quite a few years in to this system and more than a few programs with this implemented.
Other than that since the championship game I've honestly ignored most of the off season and just been looking forward to a fresh start this fall. I'll start paying attention in a couple of months and get a little emotionally involved, but really I just still can't.
Y'all have Marshall back right? I wanted to pick auburn but y'all won so many games on pure amazing bullshit. The west will be down, Bama, LSU, Ole Miss, and Aggie with new Qbs. Really the SEC is going to be a mess this year with so many new Qbs. I think only Mizzu and Auburn bring theirs back.
And living in Little Rock I can't wait to see how Arkansas does. If they lose two of their first three games (at Auburn, Nichols State, at Texas Tech) it going to be awesome watching the news / listening to radio.
Auburn QB of the future candidate:
Mizzou dismissed WR Dorial Green Beckham from the team
Dorial Green-Beckham has been dismissed from the football program, Missouri announces : schadjoe
Actually, he'll probably either go down to FCS to play out his final year before going pro, or just sit out and train for the combine next year. What a dumbass. If nothing else he's cost himself millions in the draft next year. He's basically taking the Randy Moss route to the NFL, which is fitting since all the scouts said he was the most talented WR coming out of high school since Randy Moss
- got arrested for smoking weed with 2 other teammates in a parked car in the football stadium parking lot(dumb)
- was in a car with 2 "friends" and they got pulled over and the car contained quite a bit of weed, enough for an intent to distribute charge, not just possession. DGB and one other guy ratted out the 3rd guy that it was his and they didn't know about it. DGB didn't get charged with anything(yet), but that case hasn't even gone to court yet
- was investigated for reportedly getting into a fight with his girlfiend, he found out she was at another girls apartment, he went there, basically kicked the door in and then shoved the friend down when she tried to interfere, and drug his girlfriend out by the neck. The apartment owner was convinced to not press charges by the girlfriend the next day.
So all in all, in 2 years he only got charged with 1 misdemeanor(the first offense I listed) but enough was enough, Coach Pinkel had to set an example for the rest of the team and future recruits.

Not sure I agree with Oregon @ #3. Have the gut feeling we are going to have a bad year.
Good, they can shut the fuck up about UT now.
Yes, because Texas fans are predicting we will be a title contender.
That is a very Phil Jackson approach by Coach Strong.
The SEC continues to boldly defy the college football status quo.
SEC staying with 8-game conference schedule for 2016 and beyond - CBSSports.com
The league on Sunday decided to maintain an eight-game football schedule for the foreseeable future, CBSSports.com has learned. The league announced the schedule commitment at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
All 14 teams are required to play at least one opponent from the four other power conferences, which most SEC schools already do, while keeping a 6-1-1 format inside the league (six divisional games, one permanent crossover, one rotating crossover).
Defying the status quo to make your schedule easier? Really blazing a new trail there.
Texas would have to improve its schedule to play in the SEC. Go schedule some of the big boys and get back with me.
And no, BYU does not count.
You are right, scheduling an OOC game against a preseason top 10 team is really slacking.
First search on preseason ranking is a bleacher report and while bleacher report sucks, according to this list we have 3 Top 10 teams on our schedule and 5 top 25 teams in all.

I actually didn't realize it was that difficult. This year is gonna SUCK. I pray to the QB Gods to have mercy upon Texas.

LOL @ stealing soda in a ketchup cup at Burger King
You'd think the average quarterback at a major university would have a fairly easy time of it getting crabs.
Missouri and Texas A&M have definitely proven that they fit in well with the SEC
Shit, big ups to Publix. One of the highlights of a 3 month period I spent in Jacksonville. That's about how much fun that town was. :\
Interesting Picture on Money Made and Spent on Sports 2012-2013.
I don't understand the money spent on game day. Is Texas buying mountains of cocaine on game day? And if so, where are they serving it, because I like to party.
That must be the line item Texas uses for player salaries.
What the fuck does Texas do on game day that causes it to spend more than 3x the next closest school?
EDIT: Holy shit. The amount they spend on one game day is more than the entire annual coaching cost.
It is total spent on all the game days combined.
Buying out all of those empty seats is killing them...
I have no clue what expenses that money encompasses, but it seems odd. Is Texas flying people in via private helicopters from the parking lot and dropping them off at the 50 yard line rather than using traditional gates & turnstiles or something?
Think that money we paid Cam pushed us over Tennessee, damn.
Also shocked at the crime graph, really would have expected Auburn to be a little higher than that.
he needs to be kicked off the team.
First rape then theft.
When Texas played UCLA in LA few years ago they had a live country band playing... stuff like that could explain the costs. Never seen another team have anything close to what Texas brought out with them.
Auburn sends group of players to San Diego to learn leadership from Navy SEALs | AL.com
Too bad it is only Seal Team 5 We sent 6 players so someone will be left without an instructor.
He only gets assraped by the SEC. Tressel did OK against most lesser conferences. He's 1-3 against the SEC in bowl games(only win being against Arkansas)
So? Saban lost to Utah in a BCS game.
I wasn't cherry-picking a 1 game result
40% of his bowl games were against the SEC, where he had a .250 win %, 2 losses being for the national championship(one to Florida and one to LSU)
Would you rather lose to Florida, LSU in the championship or lose to Utah?
Texas landed a stud 4 star QB over 'Bama and Tennessee today.
Isn't there probably 2 or 3 5-star QBs in the state of Texas in any given year? Why are they slumming it with a 4-star?
Uh oh, Texas not staying with an in-state kid isn't good.
Case Keenum and the 10 NFL Starting QBs From Texas High Schools
Perhaps the most bizarre trait that all 10 of these signal-callers share is none of them attended the University of Texas, and only a handful of them even had the opportunity to play for the Longhorns
Would have loved to get Gentry, solid get for the Longhorns - glad he went to them instead of the Vols.
Don't worry, y'all are only going to land 15 future first round draft picks in the 2015 class.
Somewhere Donald Sterling is admiring that beautiful black body and wants to offer him a contract.

I particularly enjoy the "Conference realignment is back in the news --> Really, who's reporting it? --> Some West Virginia Bloggers --> LULZ!"
lol that is awesome
I got an email today reminding me scalping in Louisiana is illegal lol. Looking at our schedule I can't imagine any game other than the Alabama game being worth 1/10th the printed value to begin with.
I've got my lube already for the kickoff classic vs Alabama. Not many college sophomore RBs that are 6-3 240 and can run and move like Derrick Henry, that kid is a freak of nature.
Construction is coming along nicely at Kyle Field.
Couple of fun articles the last week:
College football's top 10 scoreboards - NCF Nation Blog - ESPN
I've seen MS State, Arkansas, and Texas. Texas's looks exactly like the Auburn one but I can't really tell scale from that picture. Ours may just be one video screen in the middle and not the side-by-side version.

Meanwhile discipline issues coming back up for Auburn. 92 in a 65 and you spill your milkshake all over you? Not a good look, bro. Gus needs to lay down the hammer and set an example. Chizik let crap like this go on and it got out of control. Maybe he was just mourning the death of Lutzenkirchen.
Yeah I couldn't even come up with a glib comment about it. Was going to go for a jab at Notre Dame but it is so passé.
Season can't get here fast enough
Well I thought the first 36 seconds were unnecessary, but the rest was awesome!

But yea, that SEC video was very good indeed.

God damn, Charlie Strong isn't messing around. 7 players kicked off the team in 24 hours! That has to be some kind of record.
Most of them are starters or heavy rotation players too. Cutting that fat in preparation for bulking phase!
It is a shame that the culture of abuse towards women at Texas has led to a woman being gang raped by members of the Texas football team. The only thing more criminal than what these men did is the fact that the members of the Texas administration who established the environment to begin with won't be brought to justice themselves.
At least Auburn has a steady stream of recruits
2014 SEC Conference Title Odds | SECRant.com
Odds to win the SEC Championship:
South Carolina 5/1
Ole Miss 14/1
Texas A&M 25/1
Mississippi State 40/1
I generally don't bother with playing the disrespect card, but come on, Mizzou with the same odds as Mississippi St? When was the last time Miss St was in the SEC title game? Was it last year? No? I'm not saying Mizzou should be a favorite or anything, but I think their odds should probably be more in the A&M range, maybe 20/1 to 25/1. Maybe higher than A&Ms odds just because of the whole "weaker division" thing. I'd wager good money that Missouri finishes with an equal or better record than Mississippi St in 10 of the next 10 years.
Is Tennessee really worse than both of the Mississippis at this point? Trying to think of a once nationally relevant program that fell so far...uh, Washington maybe?
I'm new to this abuse thing and I can attest that the 7 Stages of Grief do not occur in CFB. It is just denial 24/7. Kinda like WhatsA always coming back for more of Mark "We will totally live up to the hype this year!" Richt.
The local sports stations are already getting in the "FSU isn't even that good" shit so that if the pokes play them remotely close, the Boomer radio fucksticks can say "well see, we told ya Florida State wasn't that great!"
That said, I expect a loss by at least 21 - I reckon I'm going to go just for the spectacle of the thing. OSU doesn't ever get many high profile non conference games....
Hey OU, you ready for Charlie Fucking Strong to make Stoops his perpetual bitch? I KNOW I AM.
