You made smell rhyme with kneel.
He needs to lift more, he's small compared to how he was in Pain & Gain!
at one point there were 3 big budget Hercules movies supposed to come out this year, guess one got pulled.
Legend of Hercules bombed pretty badly earlier this year, so hope this one does better, but that trailer really didn't do much for me.
Did he really just steal the Spartacus line at the end of that????....
Fucking wrestlers, only one of them is worth anything in movies, and that would be this man.
This looks as authentic as Tom Cruise playing Malcolm X
This makes me happy.
I've always wanted to see The Rock go greek.
I don't know if he'll ever be able to top playing the Tooth Fairy on the scale of "offensively absurd" to "entertainingly ridiculous" though.
If it's at least as good as The Scorpion King I'll be happy.
I don't know why, but I like the Rock, which is especially strange since I never saw him wrestle. I'd be willing to watch this on Netflix or something.
I'm gay for The Rock, so I'll definitely see this...but on video. It really doesn't look all that great, but I'm hopeful it is at least halfway decent.
Won't be better than this!
i was excited for this but that trailer looked lame
that movie would have been much better if the jewy guy wasnt in it and they used a camera that wasnt a piece of shit even for the time this was made. that thing either has a light leak or they used the cheapest developer in the state of new york. jesus, i have a 1960s era super 8 camera i filmed with and had developed at my local supermarket photo dept and the results look better than that.
This movie looks like it has potential. They actually showed stuff from the story of "The 12 Labors of Heracles" (the nemean lion, cerberus, the hydra), but that trailer was awful.
Hopefully it will be the opposite of the Awesome Trailer -> Shitty Movie syndrome?
Nah, it's gonna be awful.
I have been a Rock fanboi since Faster. I will definitely give this a shot.
Love the Rock.
You can not make me care about Hercules anymore after all the shitty SyFy, etc made for TV versions of the character in the last 20 years.
Am I the only person in the world who saw this movie? It wasn't bad, surprisingly, and not what I expected at all. The trailers made it look like the typical story of Hercules (12 labors), but it had nothing to do with that. In fact, there was no mythology in it and they played on the fact that all the gods and monsters stuff was bullshit.
That makes it sound like it's just a movie with some guy named Hercules rather than something based on the tales of Hercules. Whatever.
"Well, that was it. But I won't stop. I won't give up. Because when I look at what is happening in the world, I know that now, more than ever, ...we need to be all that we can be. Now, more than ever, ...we need the Jedi."
I saw him promoting it on Conan and he mentions the scene where he accepts that he's a demi-god. And they showed a clip of him throwing a horse. And the trailer shows him fighting a giant boar and giant lion. I suspect there's a little bit of fantasy/mythology in this here flick.
i was wondering if anyone was going to talk about seeing this. i am sort of curious if its any good. was a big fan of steve reeves as hercules and wanted to see how the rock measures up.
so all the videos and clips of him being "hercules" is done in the first few minutes. Some guy is telling another guy how awesome he is, and it is showing him fight monsters etc ..after that nothing but mercenary stuff.
I saw it and was surprised at the direction they took it as well. It wasn't a bad movie, it just wasn't all that great either. It would make a decent rental to watch at home in a few months, but unless the 3D was awesome (I skip 3D nowadays) there is really no reason to go out of your way to see it in theaters. I'd give it maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10, and I'm a huge fan of The Rock.
IMO a really bad movie on par with the Clash of the Titan movies. Shitty script, shitty acting and nothing but cliches. The direction they took was unexpected, but didn't really matter since it had shitty writing anyway. If you watched the trailer you've literally seen all the best scenes of the movie.
This feedback is reading like I should go back and watch the cheesy 90's Sorbocules instead of watching this movie.
Was a good movie. Out of everything out right now, it's probably second only to Guardians. Don't think of it as discrediting the legends, think of it as a possible truth behind the legends. This was based on some marvel comics, and it's my understanding that's the direction the comics chose to take.
FWIW though, I really enjoyed sorbo's hercules, and I was a little disappointed this wasn't more like that. But it was still good.
its discrediting legends that are clearly meant to be magical.
I have not seen this yet, but I will say at the theatre we went to see Guardians at the second time, people coming out of this one did not look too happy. That is usually not a good sign.

I hate how trailers nowadays spoil everything about the movie, so I found it less "bait and switch" and more of a refreshing experience to not know what was coming next. Pretty big plot spoiler below, to demonstrate my point:
Anyway, it was a fun movie and I don't regret paying to see it. I'm a big fan of The Rock and he didn't disappoint. All the added side characters were great, too, and I especially loved seeing Al Swearingen again.
bluray rips are out, pretty decent movie and definitely worth a watch. feel bad it bombed so hard at the box office, but i guess the other shittier hercules movie coming out earlier and the kinda crappy clash of the titan movies/300-sequel left everyone not really wanting to go see another greek myth movie at the theaters.
some pretty badass action scenes, i can see why the rock was so proud of the movie. the only problem is as people have said i sorta went in expecting a mythological sort of movie ala every hercules movie ever made, and you instead get a realistic greek myth movie which is... hard to reconcile.
I didn't think it was too bad; a different take on the mythology. Only disappointing part was that Kratos wasn't in it.
I enjoyed it, but it would have been better if he and his team were really normal people. he was doing some demigod feats in some of the fights, like kicking a horse cart, which was confusing if he was supposed to be just a strong guy.
could also done without the overly complex weapons too.
The movie is a lot better and more clever than expected, but it's far from great. It somehow manages to make Johnson ridiculous thanks to a lame costume and a dumb haircut, there are too many people in his crew to make them more than cardboard cutouts and the production value is underwhelming.
Yup they showed the movie I wanted to watch in the first 5 minutes and then pulled a switcharoo.
