Season 2 starts tonight mates really looking forward to it!
it was really good til the last episode
I read somewhere that they got bigger budget this year for season 2, since it was a hit so maybe we get more action.
I never understood why Ragnar kept going on-and-on about wanting a son when he already had one? He cheated on his beautiful bad-ass wife with that whore princess, so I am less than happy with the fellow.

Tonight's episode was.........okay.
Was ok imo, love the setting and the plot.Spoiler:
Pretty much need to have more than one son. People die... A lot.
I want a Viking woman.
I really don't understand the logic behind Ragnar's decisionSpoiler:
He should have mediated the situation. Isn't that what he is good at? Compromising? That's the kind of leader I thought he was going to be. Instead of some pushover who is too busy getting drunk and fucking his mistresses.
Tonight's episode was pretty good. Lots of action. Ragnar is gonna be pissed when he gets home.
Loving it, kick ass Vikings, i'm biased since i live in Norway, but still. Love the show, looking forward to more.
What language is it that the vikings speak ? Sure shit aint norwegian, swedish or danish, although some words sound like it. Maybe it's made up for the show, but that seems silly.

they are speaking icelandic which is closer to faroese and ancient icelandic which is about as close as you get to old norse
Vikings S1 was nice, Vikings S2 felt like dark ages Dallas where your cheated spouse could go on a righteous path just because so much people cared about feminism back then. It's not on a Agents of Shield bad writing, but with min effort it could have been way better.
A friend and I watched the first 4 episodes of S1 at the weekend and were hooked, I don't know if it is because we were baked but I watched the remainder of s1 and then s2 and it has felt slightly disappointing - still good but not as great as I originally thought. Maybe it's because s1 was him dealing with a number of different antagonists over 9 episodes and this didn't allow each enemy to be really fleshed out and explored.
Yeah, kinda lost me at the end of season 1. I don't see Ragnar as a hero but as a cheating asshole now instead.
S2 will become much better if they follow the lore of Ragnar at all. The story/poetry/history isn't all glitz and glam either, there's some boring shit going on in there also. Nonetheless, the dudes life as a whole was legendary. No fucks were given 98% of the time, he just followed his heart.
I didn't buy the crucifixion thing. No way a bunch of Christians were going to let an enemy have the honor of dying like Jesus. If they were really mad at him, they would've drawn and quartered him or something, like they did Braveheart.
The Vikings had a torture where they would pull your lungs out of slits they cut in your back. Still intact, the lungs would rise and fall until they dried out and you'd suffocate. They called it the Bloody Angel or something like that. Lungs == wings.
What was the question?
Remind me, did that head priest who told him he was going to be crucified live? Cause if so, that explains it, he was just making his prophecy come true.
Is the princess like a foot taller than Ragnar? Do they have to have him stand on a box or her stand in a hole so that he appears to be taller that her?
This season gets better with each episode. I cannot stand the stupid princess though.
For real. Lagertha is so fucking hot and awesome, Ragnar needs to drop that slanty-eyebrowed giraffe and go after Lagertha.
I like the battle in this last episode, much more historically accurate, imo. It's like a big shoving match and they use spears because spears give you reach. Now if they would wear helmets, your head is one of your most vulnerable spots.
A lot of historians on reddit say it's not historically accurate but I think the show is a big step forward compared to other Viking shows.
Yeah Lagertha is a sex kitten that I would love to tame.
Does Lagertha now get to come home that he is dead?
I really wish that they had devoted an episode to Lagertha in her new land, she has supposedly been there now for 5+ years and yet we know nothing about how that community views her or indeed anything about anyone there besides her husband. How did she organize a war band without her lords approval, who was the man with the sword and what does he think of Lagertha? This is my #1 complaint about this show; that the writers never establish a foundation for the story and instead focus myopically on a few personalities that are able to do what they do because apparently everyone else thinks that they are awesome. Ancillary characters are ignored to the point of absurdity; Ragnar's murdered followers in season one, the messenger who met with Rollo and Borg and then died in the battle, and the man whose support apparently meant so much to Rollo when he was boarding ship to meet with Borg this episode... who are these people? Why does anyone else care what they think? How the hell should I know?
Don't get me wrong I do like the show, a lot, but it's frustrating when things could be so dramatically improved with a bit more effort. Also, Lagertha totally should have had her breasts exposed while standing with the bloody knife upraised and back lit by a large fire... she would have looked like a goddess.

Vikings didn't get renewed until after the 4th episode had aired, which means the other 6 are probably already finished, or close to done. It's kind of hard to do a series like this when you don't know if you'll be getting renewed, so they go for ratings, which means hitting the big stories and following the main characters as much as they can, and since they only have 10 episodes per season a lot of stuff loses out.
Tonight's episode was damn good. If they continue to follow the chronicles of Saxo, Lagertha will become the new Jarl.
I loved the little conversation with the Wessex king; that some Christians there believed that Rome was a race of giants; lol.
More raping and killing, less Real Housewives of Jutland. Betray, ally, betray, ally, etc, etc is really wearing thin.
Also think English King dude is buttering up Priest Boy for buttsex.

And then twists of twists, King guy and Borg ally against Ragnar!
Can someone tell me what the fuck the point of having Rollo's wife/gf fucking the guys son? I understood her power move when she fucked the King but why bother now that you're staying with Rollo and you told him so.
She may be setting it up so that Rollo (eventually?) takes out all of Ragnar's allies. She wants him to be jarl, ''I rise as he does,'' etc. etc. etc. Either that or it was thrown in there for general shock factor? The crucifixion scene would fall under the same category I'd guess, because I really don't think English Christians were crucifying people for apostasy.
King Eckbert is awesome, as far as I'm concerned he's the protagonist in the show now.
Ragnar Lothbrok is a folklore character, in the same sense that John Henry and Johnny Appleseed are. They all existed and became known for their deeds, but somewhere along the line the story got exaggerated and fictionalized, so the true accounts of these people are lost. The series has followed the historic events of what is known about Ragnar pretty faithfully. If they had an order for 3-4 seasons the show would be a lot less disjointed, though.
Wtf just happened? The whole King Horik saves Jarl Borg plot got thrown out the window? Didn't they advertise this as the most shocking episode ever? I was expecting some kind of twist, was it Lagerthe suddenly being a Jarl for no reason? There seems to be some huge plot elements missing here...
Lagerthe suddenly being a Jarl for no reason? Her husband the old Jarl had men beat her to death as well as him again, then he tried to force her beaten to death to show her tits at the keep with lots of guests over so she stabbed him in the eye then 1her men or guest men beheaded the jarl, so that is how she got jarl now.
This is why the King Horik plan went to hell as well due to ragnar just got re enforced with 100 more soldiers due to her, so his plan would end up with him dead etc.

I saw that, but that made even less sense to me. Why would his men suddenly stand up for the outsider wife and proclaim her Jarl over any men in the hierarchy. Vikings aren't exactly known for their women's rights, so I can't see them saving her for the sake of that.
The second part makes sense though, I would have appreciated Horik at least being like "Fuck, there goes my evil plan...". Instead it was more like "Oh sorry Borg, Ragnar decided to execute you on a Tuesday, Tuesday's are bad for escape plans."
I appreciate the fact that they actually killed him versus the cliche he escaped storyline. Does anyone think Beorn fed him some laced bread to help him get through the pain or did he just handle it solo like a champ?
I guess the shocking twist is that the preview from the last episode didn't actually spoil anything after all . I'm glad that the Borg storyline is finally over and am look forward to Horrik's resolution as well... it's a pity that the both of them didn't just die in the opening battle of the season.
Speaking of plot holes...what's with Floki's sudden hostility towards Ragnar?
Ragnar, if you force yourself on me I will bare a monster!
Well I'm not waiting three days!
If Ragnar set Floki up as their master shipwright, with compensation to match the title, Floki would probably look past the whole "christian sympathizer" stuff.
Its hard to believe there are only 3 episodes left of the season.
I am going to be sad soon when this over for the season.
Been opening they move it to 12 episode season for next year with a 2 hour finale.
Tonight's episode rocked. And it made me wish Vikings wasn't on basic cable.
Every time Lagertha is on screen and not showing her tits I wish Vikings wasn't on basic cable.
You know this show also airs in the UK where it's uncut. Yes that includes plenty of tits, ass, and bush. Don't think Lagertha shows anything though.
I don't know if anyone noticed at end of the episode when King Horik and Lagertha are pissed ragnar did not ask them about going to talk to the king.
Near the very end after the kings son and party emsary of westex leaves they get attacked by King Horiks son unless ragnar knew about this , this was done by King Horik to further undermine ragnar cause he is jealous of ragnar that he has more fame, and could be king 1 day etc.
Also in doing so now, ragnar being to talk to the king is fucked maybe even the son gets killed and it ensures King Horric has his war option to pillage, rape and take all gold and treasure as planned.
Floki is going to die next episode because he's being a giant faggot siding with Horic over Ragnar.
Murdering the Wessex emissaries makes the talks void. The Wessex King will come for blood and King Horic will have the fight he was looking for. The cunning and scheming of those guys isn't particularly elaborate.
Ragnar's a pretty smart guy. In fact I think they mention something along those lines in this last episode. My belief is that Floki and Lagertha are both acting the part and are fully in Ragnar's corner.
There are some possible nods the past two episodes that have me inclined to believe that Floki is playing a part for Ragnar; that scene at the party in Ragnar's hall where he is observing everyone through a screen as Ziggy talks to Floki's woman and then to Horic. Also this past episode it seemed like Ragnar was observing Floki's progress to the king's tent after his tiff with Horic about sending the messenger to Wessex. Rolo also knows that Ziggy has been sleeping with the King and probably wants him dead, thus Ragnar probably also knows something about what she has been up to.

Guess I must have missed that. Now I'm hoping for an epic scene where Horic gets demolished and Ragnar smirks about it.
King Horic must die, I cant stand that backstabbing bastard, he almost got all 3 war parties killed today with his arrogance and not wanting to listen to ragnar.
He is ploting to kill ragnar and his children, cant stand his ass, sooner he dies the better.
this show is trying to do the political intrigue that other shows do well and it's just failing. Less talking more fighting please.
I hated what Ragnar became at the start of season 2 but the past few episodes have made me love his character again.
Which is the opposite of how I feel about Floki now.
I know this isn't Rome but I cringed so hard at that battle. So now vikings are going full open field melee infantry against against a well established force ? How about that raiding and plundering guerilla style ? Also lmao @ Horic going full melee charge on far sight cavalry when they're surrounded by trees. Characters have become shit too, emo Floki has basically become irrelevant as Horic's wingman and raging Rollo stands in front of horses on stampede mode. And Ragnar, smirking like a ghetto slut while sucking the King's cock like Thor's lollipop. Actors aren't awful, but it really look like they hired some nice writers to make s1 and then fire them and hire cheap mexican ones for s2.
I take issue with this 1st he has to and 2nd he been very openly sarcastic in all of Horics decisions. So he does not like him and wants to be king himself but he is not Horic and has honor and not backstabber so its going to take Horic to move against him 1st for ragnar to kill him and finally get king.

Season finale tonight.
I expecting someone to try to betray and some how get caught his kids wont die, then im expecting ragnar and horic thrown down with ragnar showing him why its not just his fame that eclipses the old king but his fighting especially when you fuck with his family, let alone children.
Really looking forward to it tonight.

30 mins till the Finale.
Wholly shit what a fucking buildup the last 15 mins blew me away.
What a fucking ending.
Ragnar gave him like 30 head butts as well too.
I knew Floki was ragnars best friend .that ragnar told him to gain the kings trust, ragnar always outsmarts those that doubt him.
Floki had to send his wife and new baby away to be safe.
2015 for Season 3 is already to long.

This affirmed my wish that Horrick had died in the first battle of the season along with that Jarl. It's watchable and still fun to an extent but I do hope that they ditch the predictable and rather unimaginative village intrigue and focus more on raids and battles next season, battles that make sense unlike the last one in Wessex as was mentioned above. I wouldn't mind the drama aspect of the show if it were just written a bit better; the characters are fine but nothing is done with them beyond moody stares, short arguments and then blood... over and over. Side characters might as well not exist, the presentation of the power/political/economic situation in the region is murky at best and that does not lend itself well to political intrigue.
I do not understand why Horrick took the risk of telling Floki when and where he was going to make his move if he didn't want Floki to do anything to help him... why take that risk? He could have told him false information and seen for himself where things stand or he could have taken him along at the last minute to perform a more direct demonstration of his new allegiance. As it was things just didn't make very much sense unless Horrick was an antsy adolescent girl with a secret to tell, it's not very intriguing at any rate.
That aside I feel kind of bad for the guys that Ragnar left out of the loop, it sucks to be bait. Also Siggy leaving Rolo the axe was interesting; you can't stand? Well lets see how much you want to live... hes the terminator, nothing keeps him down.

bad writing is bad writing.
again this show needs less talking and more fighting.
Pretty much agree with all this, also what was the point of giving rolo the mushrooms? just so we could see him get up later and know immediately that the other guy wasn;t dead either? I think this show goes out of the way to spoil things, between the previews and the really bad foreshadowing/give aways.
Also yeah, sucks to be the first like 10 villagers who all got axed because ragnar wanted a true bait...why didn't they ambush him on the way in or at least clear the streets more? makes no sense he would let a bunch of villagers die for no reason AND just leave his brother unprotected. Like what if they sent 4 people after rolo, was he supposed to fight them all off with that leg?
Bad plot is bad.
I am not defending there script but ragnar could not leave everyone hidden or he would have gave message to Horic that something was up,futhermore they only knew Horic was coming sometime that day so he had to leave some on watch to make things look normal.
I have been surprised at how harsh the reviews have been the official reviews most them are pretty glowing about ragnar acting style that sometimes he can get expressions across without even speaking like the emotion of the headbutts of how angry he was that horic wanted to wipe them all out.
find it strange that the pulpit rock is shown in the end clip since it is a tourist attraction and nothing else.
This show needs more England. Eckbert has become the most interesting character on the show, and the vikings are boring and predictable.
*Edit* And holy shit I just realized that King Horick was the dad on Grounded for Life.

'Vikings' Finale Scoop: Creator Reveals All, Including Next Stop On Ragnar's World Tour
here is part at the end the shows creator and lead writer is talking about season 3.
Looking ahead to Season 3, is King Ecbert going to be back?
Oh yeah, Ecbert is too great a character not to bring back, as is Princess Kwenthrith of Mercia [Amy Bailey].
She’s quite a handful.
She is quite a handful, yeah. They’re too good not to bring back. There’s an ongoing situation in England where, of course, Ecbert has huge ambitions to be the king of kings, the ruler of all England. He’s trying to use the Vikings to be part of that -- they're part of his ambitions. That will be a big part of Season 3, even before the Vikings go on and attack Paris.
The attack on Paris is a very, very famous event in history. Paris was this extraordinary city that the Romans had built, and [at that time, it was] on an island in the middle of the Seine. It had walls around it and towers and everything. And the Vikings attacked it with a hundred ships.
It was an extraordinary event. The siege of Paris lasted a long time and led to many, many unexpected things. I’ve warned everyone in production -- "Hey, guys, I’m afraid in Season 3 we attack Paris with a hundred ships. So I hope you’re ready."
It seems as though you're opening up the scope of the show more and more each season. Was that always the intent?
Yes. I’ve said that the show is not going to end until we discover America
