Would love to join a group of folks for this. Years since I played so need to read up.
Trying to register on that forum and seems I'm misunderstanding the security question:
UO An Corp Register
Third number from the left isn't 4 ?
edit : doh it's asking for the third group of 4 numbers from the left.

Added IRC information to the first post. Drop by IRC. There is a number of us that idle in IRC throughout the day.
I dont know how I feel about a custom server...
UOForever was great til they started adding shit and tweaking this and nerfing that... ugh
Rhuma, the code is IPY's code. Basically everything IPY was without Az
They've already lost an admin. That was quick.
Corrado - The admin that left was with the project for 2 days. He wasn't part of the IPY staff and wanted to change things from how they were. Instead of derail the project he decided to step down. Seems like a good move IMO. They've already replaced him and added another coder as well.
Short beta being announced for it tomorrow : UO An Corp View topic - ETA?
Many years since I played this. Anyone have any advice for making a bit of cash when the game launches ? Just want to make enough to buy a little house with a forge to base myself from while mining.
so is this going to turn into another razer target closest ebolt spam clusterfuck?
No, they have a few mods to the game mechanics like targetable magic reflect and distance affecting spell damage so... youll want to target farthest no matter what it will be fun just don't donate i dont see the shard lasting very long
If you're a fan of the era, the PvP is finally spot on. Without Az in the picture all the retarded shit has been done away with. No target closest, target sharing, etc. Low circle disrupts are in so PvP is interesting and requires skill unlike IPY2. It should be a good time.
Provo mage is a good bet for a farming char. Furthermore you could always go a basic dexer and farm early spawns with meele weps for gold and skill scrolls. LJ/fletching and selling bows to vendors is a safer bet as well.
I'll probably just start a tank mage which will be my main char and run around killing shit with my katana and magery, eventually summons will let me hit harder spawns. Getting magic resist/magery skill scrolls is worth a lot of gold that you otherwise you wouldn't need to spend on regs to macro so get into a dungeon asap.
What do I need to download in order to play here?
Like, I see all this 3rd party programs and I played on ipy2.0 but I was probably doing it wrong. What are you guys using and your preferences etc?
Just download the client and use either razor or UO Steam. I like UO Steam because it's actually updated and has a nicer interface. It also allows for some more advanced macros, but the server negotiates features so none of the lame stuff like target sharing, get enemy, target closest is allowed on either program which is good. You can download UOAM as well if you want a map, but the uo steam map is actually pretty good. Not much else you need other than the above items.
Launch tomorrow 4pm Central
So what should I roll as my first character? And are you guys playing together?
The lag is unbearable right now. Hopefully they can fix it soon.
I'm just macro'ing three accounts. Will try and actually play later tonight.
Fyi- relaunched last night.. lag isn't as bad... supposedly no wipe coming..
Cot Dayumn African, get that patio placed? Tell me your secrets?

Lag is fixed, server is smooth and hasnt crashed all day, and there are tons of people playing.
Now to be competitive in pvp you need every action hotkey'd or hotkeyed to a macro that optimizes your every move, damn i feel like a noob watching youtube videos on how to set everything up
How the fuck do you make money in this game.
That's what I want to know
Well it's certainly not killing skeletons and orcs in the forest.
Covetous lvl 3, lich ruins west of yew or the few west of trinsic.
Unless someone has a boat deceit isnt available right now.
If you get a silver weapon you'll be rolling in gold.
Whats the population like?
It's definitely alive and still really interesting because nobody has a 7x so there's people doing shit that normally is empty on other shards.
Been over 1000 clients online quite a bit today. They upped it back up to 3x accounts per IP but still very nice.
Im still waiting to unleash my provomage on destard hopefully dragons/drakes at least drop some decent money.
If you arent barding you're stuck with blade spirit spam, which has been do-able since day 1... alot of elite pvpers have been doing it early and
scared/griefed my 2 man team away from the best spots... i just learned how bad i sucked after seeing all of the macro's that are required to compete at pvp.
Bard is a good start. You can go like 50 provoking 50 healing 50 str 20 dex 10 int. Bard two easy monsters together like skeletons or crappy forest trash outside of West Brit, then you can hit them with your hatchet until you get enough gold to buy a katana, kryss, or q-staff. Once you get your weapon skills up to about 50ish, move on to despise which is the dungeon directly North of the GY through the mountain pass and keep hunting/skilling up on the orcs/harpy/ogres and what not in there. If you're absolutely stuck without gold you can try going 50 fletching 50 lj and craft some bows to sell to the vendor. Can have 3 accounts so you can do all of these while doing stats on another char, do arms lore for str anatomy for dex and eval for int.

Thanks Strifen I'll give that s hot. I think selling goods to vendors has been nerfed to the point of being useless unfortunately.
edit : Thanks Funk for post below.
Alsothere are a few decent newbish guides on the AC forum : UO An Corp View forum - Player Submitted Guides

Yeah selling shit to the vendor sucks here unfortunately.
50 Provo/50 healing is fine. Pick a weapon skill and maybe put 1 point into that to get the newbie weapon and then hit the newbie dungeon straight away--it's a black portal near West Britain Bank. Work up your fighting and provo there until they kick you out and then I would either hit the graveyard south of Moonglow or the Vesper Graveyard and slaughter some skeletons and zombies. They drop skill scrolls all the time so while it is not much gold, it will help you out a lot. Then just get into Covetous or Shame as soon as you can. 300% skill boost in dungeons so it is beneficial to get in there fast and work on your char there. People are still generally helpful in dungeons atm, so they might seem crowded but people will heal you and you can just whack on their mobs that they are fighting for skillups. Have only seen a couple of reds and it has been very nice in the dungeons so far.
Make a thug thief and steal shit from people farming gold. Let me try to remember my old build, I don't quite remember exactly what it was but it was something along the lines of...
Always start all characters with 50 Resist 50 Healing, every time.
90 Swords/Fencing/Macing (do macing now, make a carpenter mule to make Qstaves, clubs, and bows, change it to fencing later when DP becomes available)
90 Healing (minimum to res)
80 Archery (just to chase down runners that attack you after you've flagged, you could replace it with wrestling though)
70 Magery or whatever it is for minimum invis
30 Snooping, just spam it, it'll open, make a last object macro.
You can reduce magery to 31.4 or whatever and use recall scrolls later to make room for some hiding
spam mini heals, and stock up on wands. Target someone's weapon, make an ALT+T macro to open a target ring, steal that shit when they disarm to cast, steal people's black pearl -> mandrake root, steal their bandages etc while you joust them down after they attack you.
Another awesome character to make is a stealth herder, hiding, stealth and herding, slow motion invis train people in dungeons. Also put a bunch of purple pots in a box, put the box on the ground next to someone, destroy the box with an axe, throw another purple pot at the giant stack and it causes a chain reaction daisy chain explosion that one shots anybody.

Anyone else think respawn rates are way too fast? I was in Despise and couldn't get past the entrance because everything was respawning 10-20 secs after I kill it.
Its a little quick, yea.
Provo'ing in there and I'm basically stuck getting respawned on.
Lol about the stealing of black pearl, and mandrake. I remember I raged so hard years and years ago when I got jumped in a dungeon, and they stole my mandrake and BP, without me even knowing it, so I tried to recall and couldn't. Oh man.
It was that day, after the rage had subsided that I was forever jealous of thiefs and PvPers due to the sheer wealth they were able to accumulate.
Server is getting attacked. Constant disconnects, difficult to log in etc.
Server is getting DDOS'd. Thread about it here.
Also seems the quick respawn rate was just Despise, and maybe Covetous and will be corrected. Thread about it here.
*edit* Just to comment on the theif topic. Was some of the most fun I had playing the game back in the day. Me and a buddy use to tag team at the Britain bank, one would steal an item off someone, the other would loot the corpse when they called guards and got killed. This was also right around when they made archery really OP, and made for some serious theif/archery gankers. I use to lead a guild that would terrorize Minoc and the surrounding area. Fun times.

Provocation is the 2nd most powerful build in uo for pve, only behind a tamer, combining those 2 builds is basically god mode.
Even a melee can do them but youll need to be pretty well off with some magic resist and healing since they do poison and cast energy bolt.
Also i want to offer my services to anyone or any guilds from the forum, I'm exclusively playing a Smith and would love some help, if you have a house with a forge, all the better or we can work towards that goal if it suits you.
Free repairs, at cost weapons, armor and who knows what else in the future this shard has to offer gm Smiths.
My in game name is tywin, not the tywin lannister i see running around you can find me usually at the britain forge, post here or pm me, if you have a vent or teamspeak, just let me know in some way
Im also open to making a forum guild if its in any interest.
Im playing solo pve atm, trying to farm gold for a little house + a boat somewhere.
Can join forces if you want
Also playing solo, trying to skill up and get money. I'd be willing to help get a forum guild going if enough people are interested.
Count me in for a rerolled guild
I'm up for a guild. On EU time though.
Anyone recommend any online wikis or best resources ? Are these the best maps ? : UO Stratics *New* | Maps and Locations Struggling to find labelled maps for cities without having to look for a key to the signs.

UO Stratics. Holy shit. Blast from the past!!
Also, who still remembers your ICQ number? Old school guild chat!
Do not listen to Big Flex. No one is this day and age is going to let you steal their regs in a serious PVP fight. Anyone who is decent knows to at minimum stack recall regs/heal regs in multiple little piles, hidden under tons of shit in your backpack. alternatively, one would carry a locked box......
also, good luck stealing my what, 12 stone halberd? impossible. if you did happen to disarm me, i would just run in circles until full mana and give you 5 spam ebolts with a poison somewhere in between if i needed....
Big flex = big joke. terrible trash template. just do serious mage tank template if you want to play the game seriously.
(I played a thief back on OSI pre 99.....i completely dominated people routinely....but that was when people were idiots.....also during a time when there were 3rd party programs to keep snooped packs open regardless of distance and never close on you. You could also "delete" on your screen anything in backpacks that was covering up their reg bag....or the times when you could just set a 3rd party program to auto steal specific regs)
Does a weapons durability effect the amount of damage it inflicts? I tried to find an answer but could never find anything definitive. It certainly feels like the weapon I'm using, after a while, starts to do significantly less damage.
Im on tonight, farmin in despise if anyone is bored
Make sure to do the settings for Map->UO Client data files location and set it to your UO folder.
I'm pretty sure it does. After a long few trips into a dungeon I'm barely doing shit for damage so I usually go and buy a new Short Spear and I'm back to mowing through Earth Elementals.Originally Posted by Ryanz

Anyone know why cooking isn't working ? Picking up (eg raw ribs) and clicking on ovens or forges not working it seems. Maybe I'm forgetting something else you need to do ?
Been following build Funk and Strifen suggested. Looking like this at the moment :
Should I change anything up ? Thinking maybe Hiding or Magery (or even Taming on this toon) for ease of life might help ? Not sure how valuable Tactics is for fighting or Anatomy is for Healing/Fighting.
Also should I stick with Katanas or switch to |Viking Sword or maybe Halberd ?
Last edited by Flight; 02-28-2014 at 01:03 PM.
Looks good. You could only go up to 70 Resist spells for 30 or so magery. You can invest in a bunch of recall scrolls to put in your bank and use them to recall around with that much magery. 30 Magery will give you a 15% chance of casting recall, so you will burn through a lot of regs doing it, but you can do it with the spell too. I think I've seen people do 80/80 in Anatomy/Healing to get Magery too, not sure which would be better--I'd probably do the resist? Definitely don't do Taming on that toon, wouldn't be helpful plus you need other skills to support a Tamer. Hiding is extremely useful, especially for a new player, but I wouldn't mess with this template and just eat your deaths when they come. You're primarily trying to make cash with this guy so you can have other characters for other playstyles.
Cooking, I don't think you really need to eat on this server--I don't think being full affects skill gains. But I think you need a campfire from Kindling to cook meat. I'm sure other fire sources work, but probably not forges.
Stick to the Katana, especially for now. You'll be missing a lot so the quicker attack speed will help you hit more often plus you'll skill up more. At GM skills you can switch to a Halberd if you want, or stick to Katana + Shield.
Thanks Funk, appreciate the help. You've gone out of your way to help here - do you want a permanent Wildstar beta key as a thanks ?
There's a special event this Sunday 02/02 at 2PM EST. Do folk want to party up for it ?
Treasures of Atlantia: March 2nd 2pm PST!
Yea I'll join up. Was trying to figure out how I could do that solo but I work better with other people as a provomage.
Just saw you on the deathcam Friday PK's in Destard?
So love UO but hated IPY ever since they shut down the first iteration. How does this compare?
Yea I was in Destard earlier. Man I died a lot today so I bet you saw me on there.
20k saved up, almost enough for a house, then a boat!
Yea. Pretty solid fun in there if you can handle it. I'm right on the edge of it being almost too much for me, so a simple screw up = me dead.
My magic resist is in the 30's. I can't even handle an orc mage, let alone a drake.
Lol. Welp. Im spamming the death cam tonight boys.
If you wanna meet up Ryanz or something, we can find something to do,
Yea, once this lag settles I might try and venture out of town, and we can group up. I figured tonight and tomorrow might be crazy for lag, and PK's coming out. I saw the Orc guild from IPY on this server, and they are all still blue for now, but I'm sure that will change tonight.
Im in the UOAC irc ryanz if you wannt jump in. They did a restart and fixed the lag
Can you make a fletcher and just endlessly make bows and same for a tailor making fancy shirts like you used to be able to ? Or will vendors only buy X amount of items an hour ?
They nerfed the vendor buying of crafted goods. They want you to adventure for your gold and not sit in town and craft for NPCs.
Also, you are only allowed to sell 5k worth of gold to NPCs PER IP per day. So all 3 of your accounts can only sell 5k worth of gold per day.
I just placed a nice little house on Justice island. I got me a boat now too. Spent all my gold today though, so I hope this event tomorrow is cool. If you guys want to party up and see what kind of damage we can do we can use my boat / house to base out of.
Friday and anyone else want to meet up at Jhelom Town Crier at 5-10 minutes before the event starts today ? Suspect it will be like the regular town crier events where a portal opens up next to them.
My character is mandrak. Could do with some comms - any suggestions ?
Im in new jhelom now, you can PM me in UOAC irc if you need to track me down
The Faceless Order channel: pw is legacy
A public EQ/P99/Custom server TS i use occasionally. Im Friday in there atm.
Took my boat out to event. Get murdered. Murderer takes my boat key and attempts to steal my boat.
Random player boat pulls up with cannons. Starts firing on my ship (Im dead at this point and just a spectator). 5 players from that boat board my vessel and kill the murderer.
Meanwhile their boat is still firing on mine. They sink my boat, with all of their guildies on it.
Everyone dies. I lose my boat. Everyone loses.
lol. Anarchy. This fuckin event....
Is there any town rerolled folks are going to join for some militia/town warfare action once more people start to pvp?
First character nearly 7x GM. Finished Magery last night now just need to finish up meditation and resist. Then to do it all over again
welp I'm gonna set it up right now, any tips or help?
I see some say go mining at first, others say provo dexxer.. others say provo mage.. ultimately i want a pvp mage and an animal tamer :P but going mining first is tempting.
Last edited by lost; 03-11-2014 at 02:57 PM.
Are tamed animals bonded on this server? Losing a fully trained dragon to PVP always made me think twice about going with taming back in the day.
yeah i saw a post saying animals bond after 7 days. im running around mining, tryin to afford a pack llama lmao
Expensive fruit cakes made with cooking are needed to revive powerful monsters like dragons. You do get 'free' taming skill in dungeons though under a certain set of conditions, so it's not too much of a chore.
From the wiki, which is nice but needs a lot of work.
Also, provo-anything is going to be really useful starting out, but gear decay is kinda nutty, so mage is probably better. You can do the mining thing to get a small nest egg going, but with the gains in dungeons you can get your skills up so fast that you'll be hunting shit that drops good amounts of gold very quickly. Ingots will obviously become more valuable as time goes on though (at least for a while). If your goal is just to afk macro all your skills, then you can make enough to sustain yourself pretty quickly with mining.
Last edited by Kid Sized Coffin; 03-11-2014 at 08:54 PM.
Yeah, do I usually just sell the ingots on the forums? I got like 100 ingots but need to sell em for a pack llama. I wouldnt mind some dungeon runs, I jsut want to get some macroed skills first before I go around there. I was thinking mage animal tamer for pvp but who knows. Thanks for the info, thats kind of cool you get get animal skill for fighting.
