I just started watching this show and I find it funny as hell but would this show be as popular if Penny wasn't flopping her tits(not that I mind) around every week?
They went for the girl next door look. And then, in case that was too subtle for you, the literally put her next door.
Show would not be as popular without Penny, but it's true that almost any other pair of floppy tits would do.
That said -- Penny: Would bang.
I don't know anyone as nerdy as these guys. I really would like to meet some.
Did you guys ever see the unaired Pilot for Big Bang theory? It had all the same people except Penny who was a different actress and who was clearly played as a hard ass down on her luck who sets out to live with the geeks to take advantage of them because she knows they are all "its a reel gurl!"
It was an interesting take but I don't think the show would have survived long that way with penny having little or no empathy with the intended audience.
Unaired pilot was up on the pirate bay at one time if anyone is interested.
The first two seasons of BBT were very focused on the core three, personally I think the show has gotten much better since they brought on Bernadette and Amy to play off their respective opposites. now all they need is a real resolution to the Raj issue.
I like the show better when it highlighted Penny's ass more. Agreed Bernadette and Amy were great additions. Just wonder how far they are going to take Aheldon/Amy.
Do you people who are entertained by this show enjoy it more than, say... Archer, 30 Rock or Parks and Rec? Or is it that you've already watched all the really funny stuff and still have free time?
They have really toned down the... sluttiness? of Penny in more recent seasons.
First few seasons she was constantly wearing tank tops, short shorts, or other low cut shirts. You hardly ever see her dressed like that anymore.
It's the second one. The show can be entertaining but it's basically just another version of Three's Company. I don't know that I've ever seen a full episode. But it's not offensively bad, either. It's a solidly mediocre sitcom -- which makes it far above average.
big bang is the only sitcom i watch now. Never found 30 rock/parks/community/modern family that funny.
For as much hate as this show got on FoH, I fucking love it.
Well that's it now I'm making a Two and half men thread. Y'all deserve it. You JUST LET COMMUNITY DIE.
Archer is on FX, and the first season is really funny. I like 30 Rock, but I think Tracy Morgan takes away from it.
Big Bang Theory is the only american comedy I watch. It is possibly my favourite sitcom of all time (hard to beat Only Fools and Horses though).
I thought the most recent episode, S06EP10, was brilliant.
Good god the shit I would do to Bernadette............
I like it, I watch it, I don't get the hate for it. There's better but there's a lot worse when it comes to sitcoms too. I mean...I'm still watching HIMYM out of habit and that turned into pure dog crap last season...I don't even know what kind of crap it's morphed into this season...maybe panda crap...
Yea, I dropped HIMYM. I don't laugh much watching it anymore.
Amy/Blossom may have some weird personal views (natural parenting) but she is awesome at the facial expressions, I swear I rewatched that part where she looks up after Sheldon offers to put vaporub on her chest like 5 times. Comedy gold.
Amy was the best addition to the show by far, her expressions and mannerisms are just comedy gold. The original pilot is very weird, I think in the first scene Sheldon is at a sperm bank making a donation to cover rent money. like wtf...
And yeah, this is the show I watch as an "appetizer" for the rest of the thursday night lineup. My favorite things in the show are all the cool nerdy guest stars, like most of the cast of TNG so far or Starbuck or Buzz Aldrin. Me and my friends growing up were pretty much like these guys, clueless about girls and endlessly debating Trek, D&D, Star Wars, etc trivia, having a twice-weekly comic book store visit, even having an Indian guy. They have definitely pulled back on the nerdy humor in the past few years and gone broader, especially relationship stuff, oh well.
I was really suprised at how popular this show was, but then I realized my mom, sister, inlaws, etc all watched it because they all had nerds like me growing up around them, so they enjoy it for nostalgia and stuff. I can see how people who hate laugh tracks hate it, and nowadays it has very few real nerd moments anymore, but the characters for the most part are likeable and its nice to see the interactions. The women are much better and interesting than the guys though, the guys have all kinda become 1-dimensional and boring.
It is weird to see some of you say that this is the only american comedy you watch. I would rate 30 Rock, Archer, Parks & Rec, Don't Trust the Bitch, Happy Endings, and a few other shows way above this. But then again I still watch shit like Office so what the fuck do I know. Community is a whole nother debate, and becomes a "art vs reaching the masses" kinda thing.

Link for anyone interested in watching it.
The best thing about this show is that they stick with the nerds as the focus. Even though the guys have all made monumental steps in thier social lives since the season 1 they are still just as nerdy. Is it any coincidence that the old non-nerdy female lead has gotten pushed to the back of the story for two newer and nerdier female leads?
Draegan's bitch ass sold us out to MMORPG.com
Exodus underway to ReReRolled.org - A Gaming Community
i think they are dancing around the problem they really can not progress Penny/Leonard story.
Blossom was very bangable... Amy needs to loose 30 lbs. That's what happens after you have a bunch of kids.
The other nerd girl just didn't work at all either. So glad they replaced her with Howard and Raj.
And yeah, I watch the show. And laugh. It isn't the best show ever, but I enjoy it.
God that pilot was fucking awful.
The pilot was interesting.
The nerd girl kinda of reminded me of the current Leslie Winkle character.
I think your friends like to peg each other. And they look lovingly in each others eyes while not being underwater at the time. All i'm sayin.
Penny right now does the least for this show, which is why I think she's been relegated. Bernadette and Howard will get their own spinoff if they want it (edit: Down the road, not any time soon.). They're way more talented than people give them credit for.
Good lord Penny was smoking tonight. Bernadette too!
Son of a bitch, im a huge fan of the color red and Burnadette gave me instant wood. haha
Both blondes were smoking hot.
God damn those two were hot tonight.
I approve of Sheldon leaving Santa to rot. That was very funny.

"While at college, I once passed out at a frat party. I woke up with more clothes on."
This show is fucking horrible. It's just a bunch of socially awkward faggots and a hot girl. This is what happens when you get rid of bullying you get shows like this.
It's def hit or miss. I didn't enjoy the show this week. Was boring. I don't watch for the chicks, I watch for the comedy.
Last nights wasn't very good, it's probably the only oen this season that I didn't like.
I got a kick out of him leaving Santa to die.
I kind of liked the whole D&D adventure part. Especially making Sheldon have to participate in all of it.
I picked up all the seasons on Blu-Ray I'm only a season and a half in so far but holy fuck this Christmas episode is by far the best so far.
This is the best scene:

there is a laugh track in the show, but its really the pauses (which the video above removes) that make it weird, and the pauses are there to anticipate the live audiences reactions which get mixed in with the laugh track for the live show (I don't think they ADR the cast, but mic them up?)
I agree the current gen of shows that don't use laugh tracks (30R, P&R, Happy Endings, etc) are way better, but there have been scientific studies that found people are more likely to laugh if they are in a bigger crowd and rarely laugh if alone, and that laugh tracks simulate those crowds for many people. I think the people who really, really hate laugh tracks are in that small minority that laugh whether or not other people are laughing, so you are a special snowflake and all that jazz.
I've never ever been bothered or noticed laugh tracks, I do remember an NPR show a few months ago that revealed the laugh tracks were almost all recorded in the 50s so most of the people you hear are... dead. creepy.
I like this show, it makes me laugh, especially

Yeah, Big Bang I know records in front of a live audience now and has for several seasons.
But if there's no laugh track, how do we know when to laugh :|
" I wonder if you are destined to be forgotten. Will your life fade in the shadow of greater beings?"
I still laughed. -shrugs-
The power of voodoo? Who do? You do! Do what? Remind me of the babe!
SLAP THAT BABY, MAKE HIM FREE.
Awesome episode tonight, love it when Sheldon keeps digging himself deeper and deeper into trouble.
shit i didn't even know it was on tonight, guess I'll be downloading it!
Latest episode wasn't bad, but not as good as last week's episode.
as comic geeks they are mild, several of my friends used to buy $200-300+ a month in books, when they would debate stuff they could pull out on what page such and such happened.
the comic shop really needed a gaming room or just some tables with some smelly guys playing cards/warhammer.
I find Leonard to be too much a little bitch in these later seasons. Penny should have fucked Raj the season finale episode where the two of them got drunk and she spent the night. That was actually one of my favorite episodes and I was kind of interested in seeing a romantic arc between them play out. But the show decided to take the easy way out and put Leonard and Penny back together. weaksauce........
I want them to pair up Raj but on the other hand I don't. It is funny when he gets drunk and makes an ass of himself hitting on women.
I'm surprised they haven't added a weeabo character to this show. I think it's the only nerdy type missing from the show.
well, I'm glad the show seems to be getting a little better as of late. Been getting kinda stale recently...
I'm surprised he didn't just record it on VHS.
My son saw Amy/Blossom in Beaches, he couldn't believe she was a child star because she wasn't cute.
Favorite part, when penny gave sheldon the napkin with Leonard Nimoys dna/autograph.
"Spread your legs. Invite them in"
The world needs more Fun with Flags scenes. Holy shit was that funny as hell last night!
I love the Fun with Flags stuff. The spread your legs part was gold, and only made better by her facial expression when she looked at the camera.
The show has increasingly been getting better, it's like they ditched some of their writers and got a couple new ones or something.

The things I would do to that woman...
Sheldon's "handshake" at the end was hilarious. So was his gift heh. I cringed when he busted that one out.

I liked last nights episode, it wasn't great though imo.
And yes, Penny is hot as hell, it's down right ridiculous.
Also I laughed hard as hell when he gave the HR lady a copy of Roots.
I generally don't watch this show but I saw it last night. Still isn't going to hit my "must see tv" list. However in what multiverse are HR ladies on the tenure board?
