I feels like if they'd ended it at Season2 (maaaaybe s3 if it had just been slightly different) it would have been an AMAZING show. I haven't read them but that's got to be where the books ended. The story changes a lot after that. S3 and S4 are still very good but they're slowly turning Waylan into Hollers Superman and Boyd Crowder into Hollers Lex Luthor. S1 and 2 were so great because it wasn't about that at all. Shit, Boyd was straight up interesting. Now he just kinda looks good in a suit.
They actually write the characters telling stupid office jokes that people really do tell at the office into the script. That's just so funny to me.
But fuck it, Dewey Crowe is awesome. Bring on the bold decision neck tattoos!
This show is the closest thing we have to a Deadwood spin-off...and I fucking love every minute of it. Last season was great, I expect this season to be also.
I hope we get more of Constable Bob the badass.

This is one of the few shows that I think has gotten better after the initial stories the creators came into the series with are over.
Yeah, I think Justified has really only gotten better. Especially the last season, which I thought was great, with the badass Constable Bob.
Yeah, the episode with the Gamecocks was fucking rofl. She just keeps shooting them both. And then she does it again.
I guess it's that they lost the handle on Boyd. The Waylan stuff is still fine, but in 1+2 you feel like there are really 2 protagonists in Boyd and Waylan. 3+4 Boyd just becomes more like a bad gangster than an Outlaw.
God damn, by the end of S2 I wanted Boyd to fucking WIN.
I agree with those saying it has gotten better every season. S4 was excellent and S1 was the weakest of the series IMO.
The books were really just one book and made up about 3-5 episodes at best. The pilot and a few that followed were in a book called Raylan. And the faithfulness of the adaptation is so good, reading the book brings nothing new to the table.
I'll have to rewatch some of this show. I beasted through it a few months ago and then I went back and read some of the posts about last season. I didn't even realize the whole show takes place in such a short amount of time. I feel like I missed a lot.
so wanted to see little boyd jr playing outside their dairy queen.....
Bump to remind everyone this is back tonight!
So Dave Foley is a Canadian Mob Boss. I love this season already.
Boyd sure seems to be killing a lot of people already. I wish they hadn't spoiled the pool shooting scene in the previews, that was pretty funny. I like the red haired Crowe sister. Hopefully we will see more of her.
Sister was Alicia Witt, /drool
Giggled when Duffy got called "eyebrows."
This show can do no wrong in my opinion. I don't watch the previews on purpose because yeah they often spoil all the funny shit.
oderint dum metuant
think this was talked about before, but think it is sorta offical now. the show is going to end next season.
stories have been out for a while talking about it, but someone on reddit pointed this out that made crack up.
Mothafuckin' Avon Barksdale.
damn, Boyd just keeps getting into deeper shit
btw, last week when all the guys were dead at the drug meeting, were those boyd-duffy people or canadians?
The Ava Tragedy is approaching Kurt Sutter levels.
the actor wantewd out of the show so they killed him off
He didn't belong in KY anyway. He had a perfectly good thing going in FL with his gator shit. I bet that's all he's done his entire life. No way would he pack up and head to KY with this dude that had no plan but "family".
think KY offered something sorta legit. they said a few times the gator stuff was tapped out and even Raylan knew they were illegally hunting.
interesting about the Haitian, seems he didn't like not knowing where they were going with the character and even though they planed for him to be around all season, they didn't have him under contract.
I think this is turning out to be maybe the best season so far. They are really subverting expectations by taking Raylan even further out of the "hero" role, by turning the relationship between Boyd and the Crowes on its head, a lot of good shit happening. Michael Rappaport plays the perfect hillbilly. When Boyd gave him 60 seconds with the gun in his face and he stopped to chug his beer, I fucking laughed my ass off. And this episode when he jumped on that skinhead, fucking hilarious.
I want them to resolve the Eva bullshit ASAP. Everything else is great, but then they throw in this shitty ass story line that seems to have been written by someone's retarded cousin.
Rappaport and the Crowes are awesome. I am loving this season.
Yeah, the Ava story needs to end. It feels like Kurt Sutter wrote that entire story arc. It's just a predictable downward spiral until death.
This is probably my least favorite season. The storylines are all over the place and I don't like how the writers are ignoring Raylan's fatherhood when his family was a huge part of the show at one point.
If the porn isn't high res you can't get horny, but you can hate a guy at 1000 paces without a scope. That's human nature.
I watched the first four or five episodes of this and loved it, then stopped. I haven't watched since, now I go back and try and I just can't get into it. Seems like something I would like but it just isn't clicking. Oh well.
It's a show that gets better with each season. I think the third season is when it really takes off. Boyd Crowder's role really grows from the first season and the show benefits greatly.
Yeah I really think the first season is the weakest, it just keeps improving every year. With that said, I still freaking loved the first season.
Danny Crowe's character is a load of shit. He's just here to cause problems. I know he's crazy, but shooting at Hot Rod's men made zero sense given that situation. How the fuck did he make it this far in life being this crazy? I've liked just about everything in this season except for the Orange is the New Ava story line and the repeated retarded decisions of Danny Crowe.
I figured they were killing the guys to get hired on a more permanent basis or something. Sudden shortage of man power and all that.
If you re-watch that scene you'll notice that Daryl signals Danny and then shifts his feet, getting ready to open fire.
That makes more sense. I didn't notice any indication that Darryl was in on it.
Yeah, it's a really short shot, like 3 seconds, and easy to miss. Boyd is talking to Johnny, and the camera cuts to Daryl who turns his head to look at Danny. Danny looks back at him and Daryl gives a very slight lift of his head, then turns back to face the other dudes. As he does this, you can see him kinda rock back and forth a bit, and you can even hear him setting his feet.
Ok, I lost the plot somewhere along the line. Why is Art so pissed at Raylen for the shootout on the airport tarmac? Maybe I don't remember, but I thought a bad guy got eliminated by some other bad guys.

I can't believe how quickly this show has gone in the shitter after 4 solid to great seasons.
Just want to see that blonde smoke and get fucked by Raylin.
still enjoying it, except for Ava's story as i got enough prison fun from SoA to last me a long ass time.
I have not been keeping up with what Yost has been saying but with the end coming they started tying up loose ends and i really don't expect a next season to have a big bad either.
Well, it's gone from being a show about Raylan to "As Harlan County Turns". The prison arc is stupid and boring. Dewey was great as a side character, not so much as a main. And, they've really drug (haha) out this "get the heroin" bit. Seems like Raylan's scenes are thrown in as an afterthought. Also, the fact that the local cops, feds, and DEA don't seem to exist in Georgia is a bit more apparent this season.
Doh! I'm so embarassed. Been playing TWD, got confused.
no biggie supertouch is confused by everything else.
Darryl beating up his sister and immediately signing a blood-pact with his nephew was pretty fuckin stupid. Are they implying that he killed her? Or are they implying that he is going to take the kid, while his mom is in no condition to stop him, to be his own little partner in crime? So stupid.
They really wasted Rappaport's character. It started out with so much promise.
Is it just me or is Boyd one of the least successful criminals ever. Pretty much every major enterprise we see him attempt fails badly.
Maybe, but it was anti-climatic. I would much rather have seen Raylan shoot him dead, then say something cool/insulting about his dumb 21 foot rule.
The dialogue has really gone downhill this season. And Raylin's character just feels completely different. I can't really explain it, he just seems like a moron now.
What is strange is that Raylan had no idea what he was talking about.
I still love the show but I feel like it went from 90% Raylin being awesome/10% stupid bad guys to 30% Raylin, 20% who gives a shit and 50% bad guys being stupid. I want to watch Raylin shoot stupid people and I want red neck lex to not get fucked in every episode. Byod isn't even fighting Raylin right now and he is just getting shit on.
I think you guys are going a bit far saying it has gone "in the shitter". This maybe isn't the best season but it's far from bad IMO.
I appreciate that, knowing next season is the end, they are shrinking the longterm cast down to the inevitable Boyd vs. Raylan showdown, while finally giving Boyd foot soldiers of a competence level equal to his stature in the crime scene (and capable of not getting taken down instantly by the US Marshals).
I just wish that setup for next season was done more elegantly, or at least entertaingly.
If I squint, I can see what the writers were going for with Raylan on the fatherhood angle, giving him surrogate children (Loretta and Kendal) and a surrogate father in Art he's disappointed; I'm just not entertained by any of it.
Boyd is less clear - the whole Paxton/funeral home arc just seems like time killer from a distance, and unless dealing with the Crowes pushes him into full on Monster for the final season, it too just seems like a time killer.
And I have no idea whatsoever what is going on with Ava - the setup was preposterously inelegant, the proceedings have been disjointed and disconnected to the rest of the show, and I literally cannot see what the endgame is. (I guess she becomes Prison Queen, is shanked by the cute prisoner, and dies, pushing Boyd into full Monster in his kingdom? That'd be disappointingly standard.)
I think they are just trying to do to much this season and they don't have time to do it. There are too many plotlines to give each one a fleshed out story.
Part of it is they had big plans for the alligator Haitian, but he decided to pull a Half Sack to quit mid-filming. I'm sure that fucked with the story quite a bit.
My episode cut off at the blood brothers bit between Darryl and Kendall. Did I miss something else? Judging from other commentary, I guess some shit happened to Art?
art and raylan talk about danny. raylan talks about blonde chick needs protection, art says he will take care of it himself.
btw. noticed this on comcast last week. 1st airing was listed 10pm to 11pm 60 mins, then the 2nd 11pm to 12:30am 90mins. other guides had it listed right as going off at 11:15pm.

I enjoyed this weeks episode. Boyd being clever finally by solving his issue and Duffy's. The Detroit guy was going to try and take over eventually. He was getting awfully pushy.
Glad to see Raylan not get the promotion. I would have liked to see it but it would be idiotic.
Me! Dewey Crowe! Pow, pow two in him!
Third person? This guy? Man, I don't understand you.
Was pretty good to see Ava screwing herself again. She sure seemed surprised Boyd wasn't spending his life trying to get her out after she dumped him.
Nothing on the finale? I liked it. I thought this season was weaker than seasons past, but the finale was top notch. Season 6 with a Raylan-Boyd showdown is exactly how this show should end.
How long was it? My DVR recorded 1 hour 13 minutes and it cut off just after Boyd sat down in the RV. Was there anything notable after that?
The finale was great. If Boyd is going to be the main bad guy next season then that bodes well.
did you see the end of the scene with Duffy and the woman?
if not, Boyd talks about how he is done and going lay low for a while. she says you were bad at heroin, but was great a robbing banks. Boyd flashes that trademark smile.
Next season will be hard to watch. I like Raylon and Boyd.
Not once in the whole season did I think the Crows were capable of fuck all. I got the sense that if Rayland and Boyd just left them alone, they'd all die eventually. The big show downs and threats felt hollow because the whole clan was a bunch of morons that didn't seem worthy of holding Rayland or Boyd's jock strap, much less having a "show down" with them. (The personification of the whole season was the one Crow stabbing himself by accident--that's how the whole first half of the season felt, lol.)
Boyd is a bad ass though, so hopefully next season is awesome, especially since they can cut loose and don't have to worry about painting themselves into a corner.

This season was a bit off kilter, simply because the writers had big plans for the Haitian guy that Danny Crowe killed off for no reason. Apparently the actor wanted out of the show. Wonder how the season would of went down with him in it, he seemed interesting.
Next season is gonna be badass though.
I thought it started off strong but then kind of meandered around until the end when it came back kind of. The Crowes as a whole were worthless. Darryl, though, was ruthless. They could have done something with that, but they jsut didn't. Disappointing season, still worth watching, but kind of a letdown.
Personally I thought Ava and Boyd were good together, for the show. Ava working against Boyd is sad times.
They fucked this season up two ways... well three if you consider the whole Ava arch, but who cares about that.
1. They wasted Jean Baptiste, the Haitian character.
2. Daryle Crow went after the social worker and shot Art. His motivations were questionable at best and they had already developed his character to a point that a move this rash was completely out of character. Again, a complete waste of the character and Michael Rapaport's talents.
The dialogue writing this season was fine, but their overall story arch was a fucking mess.
It basically felt like they knew what they wanted to do for next season, and instead of trying to make the journey plausible, they just threw together some contrived and heavy handed shit to get there. Lazy.
I think the Haitian guy backed out, which fucked the original plot up. They patched it all together afterwards, which is why a lot of it felt disjointed.
Pretty sure Anger Issues Crowe would have been punked by the Haitian who would have spun a good enough story to get Darryl to attack Art.
