So after seeing my roommate play this all day I have to say it looks just as good as Forza 5
Why is every race a rolling start in last place? fuck you game.
So after seeing my roommate play this all day I have to say it looks just as good as Forza 5
It looks great, and has the best driving feel of any GT game yet. But career mode is ruining it for me. Overly restrictive PP requirements plus starting in dead last with rolling starts on 2-3 lap races is annoying.
What ever happened to starting from the grid? or qualifying, like GT1 had.
Its very obviously lacking AA, lots of jaggies. Can't wait for GT on PS4.
No Exige, no buy.
Well ok, the Gamestop-exclusive 25th Anniversary Edition faggotry is the real reason I didn't buy it but still... 1200 cars, including 3 more Lotuses added since GT5, and there's still no Exige? Wtffffffffffffff...
At least the only Micro-transactions in GT6 on release are totally optional currency, not cars you might actually want.
Oh stfu the microtransactions in both are basically the same fucking thing.
They sounded pretty onerous to me. $50 for 7 million credits, when the most expensive cars are 20 million? Isn't that pretty much the same thing that Forza 5 got ripped apart for all over the interwebs?
I believe the economy in the game is unchanged so you aren't putting any more time into the game than you would otherwise. The microtransactions are there to soak those with disposable income who must have everything now now now.
Is there a reason you're spazzing out or is this normal for you?
Touchy subject. I apologize and love you.
It would be nice if we could keep the MT talk out of either this thread or a Forza thread, if it's the FUD-based bullshit that was prevalent previously and would also be nice to differentiate between true microtransactions (buying tokens in FM or credits in GT) and DLC along the lines of car packs for FM.
Having put a few hours into Forza so far and finishing about 60 races to far and hitting level 30, I have a car for pretty much every series outside of old F1, Indy and hyper cars but still have over 4 million credits. I can quite literally play the entire career in the game without spending a cent on microtransactions or DLC (since the DLC cars aren't any better than anything in the 200 games on disc, just allow you to race things you may like from a personal point of view) and I'll be able to do the same thing in GT6 but I won't have to pay for any DLC cars they release most likely.
GT6 is definitely less graphically impressive than FM5 and there are still a lot of non-premium cars in the 1200+ where the quality is even worse, it seems that Bathurst is mapped a little more accurately than in FM5 and I think the sim handling is just a little better on FM5 due to the physics running a little faster (I think it's physics engine is running 60fps vs GT6 at 30fps). Both will have a shitload of time put into them though for me and I'll have to do so before I could feel comfortable saying one is significantly better in some aspect or the other (out side of graphics, and I feel at this stage I prefer the more consistant AI of GT6 than the drivatars in FM5 and their cheating), I wouldn't say either one should sell a system if you already have the other system but if you love driving either one will bring you enjoyment and having both will just be gravy....though switching between the two may affect your improvement on either as you have to readjust between the differences in the handling and physics of them
Also GT is notorious for counting different versions of the same car. Like they have the s2000, the mugen s2000, the spoon sports s2000, etc.
I bought this on Friday (anniversary edition) but haven't opened it yet. I've realized that I have a fairly large backlog of games and trying to do 100% in all of them takes WAY too much time. So now I'm going through my old games that I've previously never played, just to give them a once through and see if I like them.
I'm currently playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 on my Wii U (I loved Galaxy 1). When I beat that, I have either The Last of Us or Ni No Kuni to play next. I guess time will tell plus how much time I actually have. What's taking me away from GTA (despite that I haven't hit 100%) is that I can't play this while my daughter is around. But maybe if she sees Mario doing his thing, she wouldn't be thrown off and would actually want to try it. Dare to dream I guess. I'll let you know how it makes out.
Also, question about the Wii U to the standard Wii.. Do the two systems play their games 100% identical? Because it seems that the original Wii complete with omponent video is agsolutely hither video quality than my TV is seeing through the Wiii U's HDMI cable running the game through an emulated game & UI. *shrugs*.. just my thoughts.
I reckon you'd probably have a better chance of getting an answer to that if you posted it in the Wii U thread. :P
I didn't even know this came out until seeing this thread.
Opinions yet on whether this worth it if I already have GT5? Reviews are kind of mixed as it almost seems like a $60 fix for the UI.
I don't get the distinction. If you're not a fan of RMT that should be all-inclusive. RMT shouldn't get a pass because it's on the PSN instead of in-game. Technically the XB1 RMT is on the Xbox Store as well, if you hit the RMT button you get taken to the store to complete the purchase.
The main point is that in Forza and GT both you can use real money to buy in-game cars, but you're not required to in order to progress. It's hard for me to swallow someone being okay with one and furious with the other. I know you love Sony but that seems a little extreme even for you.
I never said that I'm okay with one over the other. I said they're both stupid, but one is massively more offensive and they are not the same thing. I don't know why it's so hard for you to get that shit.
And that's not even getting into the fact that GT6's economy isn't broken and didn't attempt to balance itself around the microtransactions at all while Forza 5 was built around all of that bullshit and pops it right in your face.
One game isn't balanced around Microtransactions and their addition to the game is basically totally invisible and non-invasive. The other game is broken-as-fuck balance wise due to trying to fish for Whales with the microtransactions and pops up prompts with "BUY THIS CAR FOR REAL MONEY" right in the game. You are a truly dumb person if you cannot understand the differences there.
The Forza rewards program existed in previous games like Horizon. The other shit was limited time sales/gifts. Woop ti do. It doesn't change the fact that you can get every car in Forza 5 from playing Forza 5.
I mean look at this guy:
NeoGAF - View Single Post - Forza 5: The monetization is even worse than you think.
He has 4.3 million credits in under 8 hours of playtime not to mention tons of cars.

It's like this. These descriptions aren't 100% accurate, but they give the basic idea.
A player of GT6 is browsing the PlayStation Store looking for the new DLC on GT6 and happen to see that you can buy credits for in-game currency.
A player just comes in first in a Forza 5 race and it says "The payout wasn't as high as you were expecting? No problem, click here!"
That's the difference. You don't HAVE to use either, but one is much more invasive where as the other just happens to also have the option.
That's not semantics in the slightest. Having MTs thrown in your face while playing a game is completely different from having something only listed on PSN as a DLC, that you never see unless you go looking for it.
So in essence, no matter what people say, if its against PS you will disagree, if its for Xbox you will find a way to refute.
And dipshits like you would have said the exact same shit about me when I was called an Xbro fanboy with the X360. I do not have a fanboy loyalty to any one particular service or company, I just back whoever is better. It's pretty fucking obvious who is better right now.
I picked it up last night and was also a bit worried that it was just GT5.5. I haven't played it enough yet but from the 4-5 hours I have I really like it. The progression is much more streamlined and makes more sense. You get 1-3 stars for finishing a race and the stars let you unlock higher tier races and license tests. The driving is much better than 5 as well. Graphics are very good and so are the night time and weather effects. I don't race in cockpit mode so the non premium cars that don't have a graphical cockpit don't bother me.
Couple things I dislike so far are the engine sounds are kind of weak but this is going to be updated in a patch. The pay outs for winning a race are kind of small but I'm sure this will get better. The 1200 car list is bloated with too many duplicate cars. I don't need 10 versions of a Dodge Viper.
I need a good wheel now.
Did the Anniversary edition happen to come with in game credits also, or was it just 25 cars?
I highlighted that for the idiocy of the comment, but I was still wondering none the less.
Gaige acting like semantics shouldn't matter in games, yet he thinks they should matter when he tries to differentiate himself from being a pedophile. Awesome.
This is the aus version of GameStop
The Gran Turismo 6 Anniversary Edition Contains:
Gran Turismo 6 game
Special Polyphony designed 15th Anniversary Steelbook
And the following digital content
1 million in-game credits
20 cars with special 15th Anniversary custom livery and performance enhancement
Custom paint chips, custom race suit, custom race helmet and custom avatars
Ahh, got ya. the US version is 25 cars and 0 credits.
We got the custom chips, suit, helmet & avatars though.
Gamestop was only supposed to get the 15th Anniversary cars, Amazon gets the $1M.
You can always go get as many credits as you want though:
Pretty funny considering that's about $150 worth of credits for anyone stupid enough to use their microtransactions.
Also, that is one goddamn ugly car.
Anyway, this debate is AIDS. No one's so dumb they can't tell the distinction here. If you like Forza, that's cool, I'm sure it's a great game.
I decided to play this early, JUST to get a million credits and do that hax. I don't realistically have time to play all day long, so it's going to take me a while to raise 1 million credits. PS - I beat all of the novice cup with 3 stars. How do I "unlock" the NB or IB races? They're still not letting me play.
I've been a while outside of GT though. I think I left the game after 3.
I have 3 stars & gold trophies on every Novice class race. It wasn't hard, but for some reason the B-Class stuff isn't opened yet.
Hmm... I'm mainly trugging along just so I'll be able to make $1 million credits and exploit the 20 million hack. I don't really have time to grind out the game and get various cars, and I'm never going to play this online so I'm only hurting myself.
Oh well, I'll figure it out later.
The first merc is free. No need to grind a million credits.
I have to say this game is 1000% more fun when you can buy any car you want. A lot of races have 1 car that is always way better than anything else. It's nice to be the one bringing a gun to a knife fight.
The rolling starts and always starting last is just to try and mask the shitty AI. Hopefully GT7 is better in this department.
Loving the game though. Got 30% off a G27 wheel and free shipping. Can't wait to try it.
Is that G27 2 1/2 turns lock to lock? Or is it one of those the wheel turns a little bit each direction and that's it?
I've decided to unplug my PS3 from my router until I've managed to earn 1 million credits in this game. That way I can sploit my way to owning every vehicle (even if I have to do this trick a few times in the process). That way it won't possibly get patched while I'm slowly earning points.
Hopefully this works out for me.
There's no need to do that because it can't be patched. The whole exploit is getting a special car for free from the latest patch (in which the game knows not to let you sell it) and then you delete the patch and go back down to ver 1.0 where the game has no idea what that car is, so you are able to sell it for 20M credits. Run it once, tell it not to patch, sell the car, then quit and patch back up to the latest version. The only thing you have to do afterwards that isn't shown in the video I linked is re-download the pre-order bonus cars, because they get deleted along with the patch data.
If you want 400M credits, what you do is get the bonus car, do the exploit for 20M, patch back up to the latest, buy 20 of the same car for 1M each, and then do the exploit again except this time you sell 20 of them for 20M each. There's pretty much no way PD can stop it, since you have access to the 1.0 version of the game on the blu-ray.

But what if they patch to 2.0 or something where they remove the car all together?
My account currently has around 50k credits, so it's going to take me a long time to hit a million just to buy the first one.
You get the first one for free. It's a gift car that came with the 1.01 patch.

You don't need to buy the first one. The game gives you a free ticket claim for the car.
Hmm... I'll have to look at that when I get home tonight. So far I didn't realize that it was a freebie.
Good looking out earlier. I sold my 1 free Mercedes and bought 20 more after deleting the file.
Now I'm going through and buying EVERY car from the dealerships and shit. Thanks for the heads up. I'll now be able to play for fun and not give a shit about saving money.
Oh to cheat at something you don't really care "that" much about.
I sat infront of the PS3 for a good 5-6 hours last night. I purchased all of NA and most of JAP. Holy fuck are there a lot of cars. Honda seems the worst. I'll finish buying cars tomorrow. Still have like 6-7 more 20 million Mercedes to sell though. Fuckers go quick, especially for the $20 mil cars. Gran Turismo has 3 or 4 F1's that are 20 mil. Ford has 2 race cars that are 20 mil.
If this keeps up, I'm probably going to have to re-load 6.1 and buy a few more of those cash sploits in order to get every available car under my belt. Then again, I'm selecting colors for each car I've purchased, so it's taking a while.
Yeah I stopped worrying bout colours after about 5 manufacturers. I'm repatching to 1.01 now to grab 20 more and go back again. Figure I'll need to do it once more after this to get everything and then I'll just use race wins for modding things I really like
Yeah, I'm not worried about modding anything. Should have more than enough money from racing. But god damn is buying cars time intensive. It's like 30 seconds per choice due to the delivering mechanism.
Oh well, I "should" be finished with it tonight if I get much time to sit there.
