I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought about retirement homes for our generation being the best thing ever. I imagine retirement homes in the next 20 years having to build sweet computer labs for our badass LAN parties. Retirement home guilds. No more poopsocking - we be straight up shitting in diapers.
What are your dreams (edit: ideas) for gamer retirement homes?

It's guaranteed to happen, folks.
This isn't some crazy far out idea.
While it's not at all out there, I think tablet proliferation is more likely than wiring up a retirement community with t1 cables. Depending on where you go, and how much you want to pay, there are places already wired up.
Quake night will be fucking hilarious.
It will totally happen considering today situation BUT seeing how much it has evolved in the last 20 years I can't even imagine how it will be in 30-40+ years... Brain wired to watever controling device ? Getting fed by robots etc...
Not everything on the internet is true - Abraham Lincoln
Even over a decade later I still crave UT.
Better hope for the matrix plugin because arthritis is going to be a bitch.
my eye sight is fucked now, will have to be text to speech muds
everything OP said + weed
I'll be happy as long as the nurses don't steal my fruit and slap the shit out of me when I ask why my download speed is so slow.
Im in. Raid party in WoW 10.0, all old fogies!
"God damn it Adebisi why wasn't he slowed!"
"What?" Oh...fucking Alzheimers man."
Haha Why you even started worrying about a Retirement Home, is beyond me! But your idea has my non-existent medicare!
Just set a computer in front of me and keep the jello cups flowing and I'm in!
The messed up thing about all this is that I was thinking of this just the other day! I walk into retirements homes and I see tons of bored old people so it hit me... "Man, I hope when I'm old and have to be in a home I hope I'm enrolled with old gamers"
No Teeth on the table Grumpus!
And Kaljin if I see you usin that fancy shmancy mouse again I am gonna report you for cheaten!
Great, a bunch of 80 year olds still griping that EQ was the pinnacle of online gaming.
I would finally have a place where I can sit around and talk about the "Golden Years" of Everquest and how kids these days have it easy. Maybe together, we could chat about what the best experiences were and all the old drama.
If only such a place would exist now I might be able to relive all those wonderful times, ignoring all the other mundane and annoying crap that I so conveniently forgot.
That and board games.

old people gaming homes where you can shit your pants while playing all day and other people take care of you shall be the ultimate pinnacle of human evolution.
By the time I'm ready for a retirement home, my reflexes will be suited for farmville. That's assuming we aren't capable of tapping into someone's brain by then.
Any artists want to collaborate on a "children's" book about the retirement homes of the future?
Me? My biggest regrets from high school and college is that I didn't sack up and put the time in to be top server-wide. If I find myself in a retirement home? sheeeiiit. I'd love to join an retirement home specifically for gamers.
I seem to have misplaced my Oculus Rift bifocals.
Nurse, I need another can of Rockstar.
Can someone tell Phil to turn on his Vent hearing aid.
Countdown! 26 months til Emma Watson turns 65!!
I look forward to dementia fueled solo White Mage runs in Final Fantasy.
It'd finally be legit to wear a diaper so your gaming session wouldn't be interrupted.
Gamers aren't going to make it to retirement age or much longer.
Better stock up on the insulin and defibrillators.
Feels really come on strong during her speech at the end.

Off topic, but I've been watching Sword Art Online recently.
Fuck a bunch of Oculus Rift; That shit is one step away from the nerve gear they wear in that show. Although, you know we rerolled folks would poopsock the fuck outta that shit.
The home library would have an amazing graphic novel selection. Manga out the ass for your againg weeaboo.
Sunday nights are American Dad and Bobs Burger night.
And all the pictures of fat girls and men with fake breasts that you can handle.
Playing a Bard is going to be a bitch when Im old. You assholes get the mana song and thats it. Twisting is for young people!
This topic is actually pretty thought provoking. Anyone breach 60 on these forums yet? A lot of us likely represent the 'first' of the internet generations, people used to online culture, entertainment, interaction etc. So at this point we're well on our way to being at or over the hill.
I can only assume that 30 years from now, we won't suddenly revert to playing checkers, bingo, and bridge, and watching matlock. Unless there's something about being old that triggers those changes. At the same time, I just can't see myself being good at games still, especially the dodge circles and other shit bs that is running rampant these days.
We have a shrinking generation gap thanks to the internet and being able to instantly obtain information and news about everything in the world. Even if I don't like what my kids are listening to or watching in the future, I'm sure I'll know what it is.
Getting older just means we slowly turn into republicans.
You tend to continue doing what you enjoyed. We suddenly aren't going to watch Matlock we will still be bitching about Everquest and WoW and how the younger generation's likes / dislikes are fucking retarded.
One thing I do notice is that our generation is different in one key way to the current crop of old farts. Most that I'm in contact with do not have any hobbies what so ever. Work, or some form of work related activity is all they know and when they stop they don't know what to do with themselves.
Where as many in our generation could kill plenty of time dicking around with tech, games, tv and other forms of hobbies without much trouble.
Kind of interesting considering we will all be at the end of the curve at some point. All things equal I think we will do better in old age (assuming you don't screw the pooch financially which most are doing) than the current crop.
viagra+hentai MMO+nurse sponge baths. yes please.
You're sitting on a gold mine here. You can even name the retirement community Rerolled and it would be appropriate. Entering your new stage of life for daily raids, fondling nurses, and popping pills. Send me a brochure, please.
Bisi, will there be Canadian Club? If so I am in.
You know it diadem. Canadian Club drinking with Boardwalk Empire marathon.
There will be many marathon drinking and series watching nights at ReRolled Manor: Home for Elderly Gamers.
Poop socks, actual socks for your old man poop.
Hmmm hover chairs, and chubby, sassy, black ladies giving me sponge baths.../sigh only 20 more years of hell before heaven.
Or brown poop looking comedy socks we all wear for a laugh. Our kids will not get the joke and assume we've gone insane.
As long as there is an FPS and soft taco night, I will be there; And I will even bring my own mouse and keyboard from home unlike you dirty casuals. Anyways, people are going to need smoking jackets or robes with the name of their clan or group embroidered on the back so the leet gamers can be easily distinguished from the plebes.
Even though we are all going to have trouble taking a piss standing up and there would hardly be a full set of real teeth found among the lot, people still want to feel superior to one another. It's like prison, except with out all of the surprise! buttseks and the guards are going to look freakin hot, I can't wait.
I will probably be in a retirement home before another good MMORPG is released. I hope these gaming retirement homes are ready by then.
Ked hit on something interesting. Watching my grandfather retire has been depressing. He finds zero joy in anything that isn't work. Now he's just doing work for folks as a freelance electrician. Won't travel. Any hobby is worthless by his account.
Now my grandmother was an Atari and NES addict so she's fine. Most plays shit like dr Mario and Tetris. Her issues are being able to see the tv. From the fucked up family thread: she once sat and watched me play ALTTP on SNES and made the family watch the ending after I beat it for the first time. She is a pretty awesome grandmother
As long as our pesky families aren't allowed to visit during raids, I'm all in.
That is why EQ in a browser will be great. Slow combat, long travel and a lot of downtime.
Why wait until retirement when disability and food stamps exist?
- get a bunch of people on disability and food stamps
- rent 5 bedroom house and business class internet
Then just give extra DKP to whoever cleans or cooks.
Prices sound high in MD. I'm looking for a 5-bedroom around Orlando and can easily find nice ones with a pool for $250k-$300k range. Mortgage is like $1250 - $1500 a month. Five dudes on disability could pay that no problem.
I make a thread in a gaming forum suggesting a type of sandbox mmo game I would like to see made, and it gets rickshawed. But a thread in a gaming forum about retirement homes is OK? Interesting....
Either that or North East, MD (actually a city name) which would be a ton cheaper as well and gorgeous in a different way being on a Chesapeake peninsula vs an Atlantic one.
Job market is supposed to suck there though - but I can afford it even without working until I'd find something.
The location should be near the best (insert hobby)Con events
Good topic. My first love is board games, specifically 18xx, and that's a much older crowd than this board and needs at least four people for a solid game so the Elder Gods/Great Old Ones of 18xx gaming already have plans afoot for just this sort of thing. I'm just trying to convince them to buy it in Wyoming or Colorado or some other state that will survive the oncoming collapse of civilization.
It's all good if western civilization falls apart as long as I can still get in some 1824/1856/1870 and the occasional MTG game (pre-Ice Age/Homelands).
Oshama care is going to gurantee that most of us are long dead before retirement time
This is the best thread in the entire forum right now.
Adebisi, consider me an investor.
Also, I want a full blown drive simulator roll cage instead of a bed.
NURSE, MY TRANSMISSION IS OUT AGAIN! FUCK!
edit; I'm gonna teach these nurses how to drive stick, you follow? Yea, that's right bitch, start downshifting.
i still havent seen my concerns regarding marijuana provisions being addressed
I've been thinking about this ever since I worked part time at an old folks home 10 years ago or so, glad to see I'm not alone! In stead of Elvis screeching from the gramaphone we'll have Metallica and the Prodigy blasting from the stereo, with the odd Tupac in for good measure.
There'll be reruns of our favourite shows on marathon runs such as Breaking Bad, GoT and shit like that. The more boobs the better!
Boardgames and card games galore. Can't wait to see old folks flip their shit over Magic.
Then there'll be the computer games. Oh my... Everything from Quake to TF2 (or TF5000 by then?). Teabagging will still exist, if only in frustration of not being able to bend over in real life any more due to arthritis. We'll still all be dreaming of the good old EQ/WoW vanilla days and saying everything since is shit and wondering when HL3 will be released.
Ventrillo will be awesome:
"Phill just died!"
"Do we have a druid who can combat res him?"
"No, I mean died died!"
"God damn it, I have grand children aggro. I told the little fuckers not to visit me during raid time!"
[5 seconds later]
"Ralph! Your boots finally dropped!
"Woo...hnnggggggg...hoo! And yay for the pace maker!"
