Anyone else still play this?
Shit. My wife is a pedo?
At least she doesn't play Elin.
If they ever went F2P, I might check it out again. Outside of the great combat system and gorgeous visuals, the game really needed a lot more meat/variety at the higher levels.
Yeah, I'm starting to get bored, even though finding new and creative ways to solo BAMs is a fun twist to MMOs.
i bought a years worth of sub with chronoscrolls (gave up on enchanting and gear, just farmed gold and bought scrolls haha) but haven't logged in 2+ months. Are there any new content updates, or has it turned into a total cash shop moneygrab?
Me and the wife still play, running a guild with all the vanarch political drama keeps things interesting to say the least. Having fun with MC runs now that we have static groups capable of killing the queen. Although have yet to do it on hardmode but thats coming soon. Honestly for all of its flaws I really can't picture myself playing any other mmo at this point that isn't fps style "action combat" going back to tab target just seems very very very old school to me now and I just can't do it.

5 bucks on Amazon lightning deal atm for the next couple hours.....
Draegan sold us out to MMORPG.com
Exodus underway to ReReRolled.org - A Gaming Community
Man - went to sign up and download this thing. But then I landed on this page and completely lost all respect for the team managing this game.
Are you for real? I don't want Kanye in any fucking game I play.
EQ Beta B Tester.
tera is 5 dollars again on amazon to download
Looks like K-Tera is going FTP. They announced a new big content patch with some 10/20 man raids. Could be interesting. Wonder what they will do with the chronoscroll system.
Details on official forum:
interesting. might come back if they do the raid/siege thing right.
I'll definately come back to this game if it goes free to play and not pay to win. I really enjoyed the combat in this game.
Going to be a long ass time before NA Tera get that content update, and I doubt EME will go F2P before they release it, maybe by late summer.
I would definitely come back if it went ftp, was a blast while I played.

My one gripe with Tera was that the spell effects were lousy.
wish they'd do the same for Tera that NCsoft did to Aion/L2/... GW2.
I'd play Tera then. I would play it hard.
Looks like Frogster (Euro publisher of Tera) will be going F2p as well in January.
TERA is officially going free-to-play this February. The exact date has yet to be released, but En Masse Entertainment has collected all of the other pertinent details in a lengthy F2P FAQ that you can find on the official website.
The new game service will feature three tiers: Founder, Elite, and Standard. Standard is TERA's free offering, while Elite is the usual $14.99 per month subscription option. Founder status is acquired by purchasing and redeeming a copy of the game and is good for life. Some of the free-to-play limitations include character slots (two per server with the option to purchase more), bank slots (72 with the option to purchase more), and various brokerage fees and taxes. There are no race, class, or content limitations, although Elite players do get dungeon cooldown bonuses.
A full list of account tier differences may be found in the official FAQ. You can also check out the F2P announcement trailer after the cut.
Good to hear.

See, that is how you do F2P. I might have to take a look again, although I never got max level on my slayer ;p
i still have 6 months left bought via chronoscrolls, I wonder if they would give me cash for it hahaha
founder status sounds cool, you get 8 char slots max bag space and other shit. be a nice game to login and fuck around i guess, pick up a cheap box copy before they disappear for the perks?
game was definitely fun to play and had a lot of stuff that should be in all MMOs, its just that you were pretty much done with the game once you hit level cap, everything at cap was super grindy and RNG like all asianMMos

Pretty cool, will definitely give the game a try when it goes F2P. Anyone have some information on class breakdown in terms of population? What is the most popular, most useful, least popular, etc?
an understated ensemble that puts the "b" in subtle
This is where I weep a bit. I have a year and a half left on membership because they charged me twice by mistake.
Oh well, I have 8 chars, so I suppose I would have been out of pocket anyway.
I imagine we'll see more of the plan laid out the closer it gets to releasing, but at first glance, that F2P model doesn't seem too terrible. It actually looks like they've created a system that is more about rewarding those that subscribe rather than placing crushing restrictions on those that don't. If that is the case, I'll definitely have to give it a look, because I did enjoy what I saw in beta.
Folks If you read the offical FTP FAQ from Knoxxer he says in FEB 2013 when they offically launch FTP TERA their will be Brand New Servers as well as the old Current 3.
So brand New Unnamed Servers for FTP he did not say what type and how many yet Folks to be clear.
All Content atm is Open to Old players even not subbed Pre Feb 2013 launch peps.

If you have a subscription still active at the time of the F2P conversion, you will be set in the Elite tier, with all those perks, until your sub runs out. When it does, you'll be placed in the Founders tier (note: you'll have access to 8 character slots while in Elite tier during your existing sub).
If you have chronoscrolls, you can sell those to npc vendors for 2k gold per.
Might be able to convince my wife to play again for free (she'll be Founder status, as we both bought the game), so, this is great. I wonder if you get to pick which 2 characters to play if you have more than 2, or if it randomly picks 2 (like SWTOR).
Q: Will there be new servers when TERA changes to free?
A: Yes we plan on opening up new servers, actual numbers, types and names will be coming later.
Lancers are your standard mitigation tank, while warriors are evasion tanks in dungeons (they are also DPS). Ranged dps you have archers and mages.
I played a slayer. Great DPS and decent survivability/mobility. Think Gutsu from Berserk and thats a slayer in a nutshell.
mystic is useful for greater dps
priest is good for maximum healing.
So, priest for early runs, mystic when you outgear shit?
What's better between archers and mages?
an understated ensemble that puts the "b" in subtle
Are berserkers still garbage?
Last edited by Fuse; 01-10-2013 at 04:55 AM.
Priests are healing machines, both single and multi target, but that's about all they're good for.
Last edited by Vorph; 01-10-2013 at 03:23 PM.
Something must've changed since I quit, because back then nobody wanted a priest because all they could do was heal. Mystics were plenty more than adequate for the healing necessary and their utility meant that fights were much shorter.
It's a shame TERA didn't have a good game to go with their combat engine, because that part of it was really fun whether you were soloing or doing dungeons. It was just so utterly generic, and there was nothing to do at the top end.
Mystics have a rough time in the higher level dungeons if people are stupid, and most people are stupid. I've done plenty of dungeon runs with only a mystic, though, and if your party is smart enough not to Stand In the Fire all the time, it's fine.
My wife played a priest. My main is a lancer. We duoed pretty much everything up until early to mid 40s, If I remember right, and after that, we had to dungeon queue. We never waited longer than a few minutes when queueing as a tank+healer combo, but at some point (I want to say mid 30s) duoing became an incredible chore until the lancer's DPS was buffed a bit. Priests do almost no DPS.
doing kelsaik's nest with a mystic was hell haha.
"priest are annoying because they prolong the runs and do no damage"
"everything is so damn difficult with a mystic and bad groups can't even complete runs with one"
This is the worst. Which is preferred.
an understated ensemble that puts the "b" in subtle
I really like doing dungeons on my mystic, but I'm still in the 40s. I've had numerous people friend me because "it's nice to see someone who knows how to play a mystic."
Basically, with the 3rd lock on target for the targeted heal and shitting out health/mana balls nonstop, I've yet to really have a tough time. Like I said though - I haven't seen end game content.
I just stay out of combat and use the self mana regen often, keeping my movement speed up and staying alive.
If anyone fires this back up on the PVP server, send me a friend request - Boggle is my in game name.
I'd really like a leveling partner in the mid 40s.
mystic is preferred but only if you are good. dps buff difference between priest and mystic is incredible.
If you're a bad mystic, everyone WILL die. If you're a bad priest, you can still muddle through, but everything takes longer to kill (which doesn't really matter until you're in high end instances anyway).
They are both hell to level up, by the way. If you don't have a permanent duoing partner for collecting bear asses then I would strongly advise against making a healer. I enjoyed playing my mystic in groups but gave up on it by the mid-20's due to it taking about an order of magnitude longer to do anything by myself compared to my slayer.
get a zerk to level with you. They kill shit in dozens...
I could use a duo partner now for my 47 mystic.
I also have a 20 sorc and a 14 zerker.
They reactivated my account. Have a 60 Lancer. Never did see the last couple dungeons. What server do peeps play on.
Mystic isn't hard to play. It's boring as fuck though and for whatever reason a lot of people really suck at it. Priest is a lot more fun to play. You just don't have many tools as a Mystic so the play is sort of one-dimensional.
I am now playing this. so whats currently more of a pain to find for groups? heals or tank? I'm deciding between priest or lancer.
Would you say this is worth a look when f2p hits?
You'll definitely get a few hours of fun out of it. The game is incredibly simple though. Its just a ton of kill and collect quests until max level. Dungeon play is kinda fun though.
For earlier subscribers:
And some free game time til January 16.Founder Benefits:
Founder's title: new "Founder" title, marking your status as one of TERA's first
Founder's rights: eight character slots, four bank tabs, and more item simultaneously on the brokerage
Terminus mount: a founder-exclusive mount to commemorate your victory in the Argon War
Free En Masse Points: deposits $5 (standard) and $10 (collector's edition) worth of EMPs to your e-wallet
Wow, the FTP model looks quite forgiving. I'm fairly impressed. They should really keep chronoscrolls around though so you can get the elite membership for in game gold.
I guess Im just blind, but I dont see the specifics regarding Free 2 Play restrictions on their website or the company website. Anyone have a link to them? I see the Rising thread, with the limited information on Founders.
Great FTP. Not bad bad at all. Paying gets you shorter/more cooldowns on dungeons. Save you some gold on broker.
Buying the game for 20 bucks gets you a nice bonus also. Bank slots being the big one.
KTERA's f2p patch turned BAMs into something only slightly harder than a normal mob that are easily soloable by anyone. Sounds like a colossal fuck-up to me, since BAMs were the only thing that made leveling even slightly interesting/fun to do. What the hell are they thinking?
I was thinking about playing the game again too, but between some of the changes that are coming and the fact that 'account armor' apparently hasn't been sending any emails at all for the last few days I'm reminded of just how incompetent the management is.
Last edited by Vorph; 01-13-2013 at 06:50 PM.
Apparently their email system just breaks and nothing happens until someone gets around to resetting it. I just got a whole bunch of messages that were sitting in the queue for 2-16 hours.
Of course, I'm not home now, so I'm sure it will be doing the same thing again when I try to log in tonight.
Is there now some lategame in it? -_ Did like the levelin, but when you hit cap...
Restart the download if that happens. I had to restart mine once, but in the end it only took about 2 hours.
Still haven't actually tried playing it though. My characters are stuck on the pvp cesspool that you can't transfer off of, and I really don't feel like starting all over again.
They are Re activeing all accounts for another 7 days as of today due to tech issues.
We're Adding Game Time to Your Account!
We’ve seen a great response to TERA: Rising, our transition to making TERA free for everyone. In addition to that great news, we also reactivated all past subscribers for seven days, giving you a chance to come back and experience TERA again.
Unfortunately, we’ve had a few technical difficulties during this reactivation period. These made it difficult for some players to get into game. The good news is that those issues have now been addressed and everyone can once again access TERA.
We’d like to make it right, though. So for all our players—past, present, and future—we’re adding seven days of game time to your account to compensate for the time lost. You don’t have to do anything to activate this additional time—we’ll add it right to your account.
Our community is and has always been our top priority. Please enjoy the extra time, and thanks for being part of the life of a game we love.

WTS 51 lancer on PVP server.
Anyone else on the Tempest server thats kind of new? I've grouped a little bit, and enjoy the game a hell of a lot better when I do.
Yea, I don't really like the warrior class anymore after playing a Zerker and Slayer. Sure it is a fast class, with some fun skills, but its damage seems weak, while Zerk/Slayer are just wtfpwn lvls of damage. It is fun to watch a well played warrior though, great class if you can get into its playstyle.
Warriors are fun, but they were more fun before they could block like a lancer/zerker. That change cheapened them, I think.
That's the problem I had with my warrior back in the summer. You had to play perfectly just to dps/tank like a face-rolling slayer/lancer. Doesn't sound like things have changed, based on scanning the forums this week.
I guess I'm going to make a lancer on Tempest. After checking into what's up with the retarded lack of an option to xfer off of the pvp server, which they claimed they were going to work on back in fucking July, I guess there's pretty much zero hope of that coming with the F2P patch.
Hopefully they'll allow transfers off the PvP server, given that they shouldn't be cockblocking people from playing with their friends. I've never understood MMO companies making that dick move. If the ruleset doesn't allow you to gain an advantage by moving from one server to another, who cares? Let your customers have what they want.
This is a Korean game.
They don't give two fucks about any of us. We'll take what they give us and we'll fucking like it.
Owwww man, 2 character slots vs 8 and 72 bank slots vs 288?
Other than that, seems playable.
I canceled back in June or so, but I still really like this game. A lot of fun to just hop in and screw around.
TERA F2P starts February 5
En Masse has set a date for TERA's free-to-play conversion, and that date is February 5th. The company will also add new content to the fantasy title including a three-on-three PvP battleground and the Crucible of Flame dungeon.
TERA's F2P offerings include three player tiers (standard, founder, and elite), all of which feature full access to the game's content. Founders receive additional character slots, bank tabs, and a special mount, while elite players get dungeon bonuses, additional quests, daily items, mounts, and store discounts.
FYI, their are supposed to be Brand New No transfer Servers for FTP launch as well. Lets see if they say ahead what the names be and rulesets.

Brand new fresh start Servers, No transfers INfo will be posted today, as well as offical forums just got PM back to confirm.
My PM to Knoxxer and his answer all just now.

RE: My Brand New Server Thred Important Request for players plz.
The new servers won't have transfers to them. We will have more of the server info coming today but that is a good idea on the forums I will get those up once we announce them today
You don't have to roll on the new servers if you're F2P, do you? You can still choose the older ones, right?
(please, tell me this isn't a trap)
I hope the new server(s) and FTP model breath some fresh life into the game. Been looking for a new distraction now that my second Rift foray is nearing end. I already have 2 uppermid level toons on Tempest Reach, but guaranteeing dungeon and BAM mates while leveling does sound appealing.
Between this FTP model and VG's new FTP I'm set. I loved both of those games, but don't play enough to warrant the subscription price. This is perfect.
this is what it must be like to be a girl, every MMO is begging you to play them. Soon I expect generous offers of food and drink to try them out for a night.
Get ready for the new world! TERA: Rising , the next evolution of the award-winning action MMORPG, will be available for free throughout North America on February 5.
Thousands of players, old and new, are clamoring to be among the first to experience the all-new content, including a competitive dungeon, a player-versus-player arena, and two new high-level factions.
After a maintenance period scheduled from 12:01 a.m. PST February 4 to 7 a.m. February 5, you can log in and experience TERA in all its epic scope: all the dungeons, all the BAMs, and all the action you’ve come to expect from this groundbreaking MMO.
On February 5, players can choose from five servers:
•Mount Tyrannas (PvP)
•Lake of Tears (PvP)—new!
•Tempest Reach (PvE)
•Ascension Valley (PvE)—new!
•Celestial Hills (PvE roleplay)
Lake of Tears and Ascension Valley will be on their own matching system for dungeons and battlegrounds. Character transfers (free for a limited time) will be available among Mount Tyrannas, Tempest Reach, and Celestial Hills. Characters can transfer once every 30 days.
To handle the influx of new TERA gamers, we’re establishing some chat channel restrictions. Area chat is available for characters level 5 and up, trade and LFG chats are level 12 and up, and global chat is level 20 and up. We’re limiting chat rates as well to handle all the traffic.
Finally, TERA’s community suggested that we give TERA’s founders—those who’ve already played the game—priority queueing if there’s a wait to get into the game. We agree! If you’re a founder, head toward the front of the line (just step over the velvet rope
Priority queuing for Founders will piss off people that are trying it out with F2P first if the queues are too big. Meh. We'll see how bad the queues are, I guess.
