wow, thats a pretty awesome idea for a movie. Just saw The Master recently, Joaquin was pretty good in that
I feel like though they tried so hard to get him to look like leonard from Big Bang Theory that they should have just cast him...
Damn Amy Adams...
Not everything on the internet is true - Abraham Lincoln
That would all fall apart for me when she got jealous of all the porn I masturbated to and tried to delete it all. Or shocked me when I used the mouse to open another tab.
"I can't let you do that Dave."
whoah Scarlet Johansson is the AI voice, now I really hope she gets downloaded into a sexbot at the end
...I need one...
So I first read the director as Spike Lee for some reason, and it had me convinced the trailer was going to be about Phoenix finding out the AI is actually a black women and freaking out and deleting her.
I guess Spike Jonze played too much Love Plus on his DS...
I was pleasantly surprised with how good this was. A must see if you like Spike Jonze or Charlie Kaufman.
As you'll see from the trailer, the story is: a man falls in love with his OS.

When does this see wide release? I've anticipated it for quite some time.
I think its Jan. 10 for wide, but I'm not certain. It's soon.
I just watched the first video. I must be a stalker or something. I was listening to "Samantha" and I'm like.. hey, that's ScarJo. Then sure enough, it was.
Just watched the screener of this tonight. Really, really liked it. I am NOT a fan of Joaquin Phoenix at all (except for when he was very vexed in Gladiator), but damn did he do a fantastic job. For basically having to act all by himself in 90% of the movie, you hardly even noticed it. Of the recent releases/screeners, I liked this better than American Hustle (sucked) and Wolf of Wall Street (liked it). I'd say I liked it about as much as Rush, but in a totally different way.
This movie is probably a lot more realistic than we realize. Everyone in the movie walked around in their own little world, using their mobile devices and mostly ignoring everyone around them. It already happens today, just imagine if they actually had AIs like these. Although I really, really have to believe that by the time we have an AI of this caliber, (minor spoilers I suppose)Spoiler:
They also clearly made huge advances in battery life in this future, fucker never recharged!
Now, since I don't want to further spoil the movie for anyone by talking any more about what happens (although I'm sure you can guess most of it), the real question is, who would the voice of your OS be? Scarlett's voice is not one I'd pick to be honest, but being able to picture her made it so it doesn't really matter. Kate Beckinsale would probably be my first choice, which works out well because she'd also be my first choice for sexbot. If for some reason I couldn't have her, and I could track down any voice, it would be this chick (from the 1980s, who knows what she sounds like now). For some reason this track has always stuck in my head as one of the sexiest voices I've ever heard. Which means she's probably a hog.
Yes, amidst my lifelong love of heavy metal, I listened to, and enjoyed, Ice-T. Cuz I'm an OG pimp, obviously.
Warning, this movie may very well hit you right in the feels.
Watched it tonight as well, best movie I've seen this year. It's really not even close. I need to watch it again, but it might be my favorite movie I've seen in the last 2 or 3 years.
It almost gave me the same feeling as 500 Days of Summer, but
cyber sex was great.
Saw it last night. Definitely better than American Hustle, but I still think Dallas Buyers Club was this year's best. I'm watching Wolf of Wall Street tonight.
I was particularly impressed at the believable future SJ created. I am also not a fan of Joaquin Phoenix, but he was fantastic.
This movie was good. The world and especially the dialogue was very good. Everything seemed believable and the cyber sex stuff made me uncomfortable but not to the point where I thought it was over the top or outrageous which is what I think the point was. Good flick.
This movie involves me in the atmosphere, the emotions involved, the music that Samantha plays. I drowned in the movie with headphones on especially. There's a weird feel to the movie with technology going on that far.I gotta say already with the phones that we have now, and people dwelling in their phones. Imagine if we actually have those OS-es. People don't need real relationships or social relationships. It can be crazy! But awesome movie! Must watch for those looking for emotional/romantic movies.Spoiler:

Just finished watching and really really enjoyed it as well. It was very engaging and emotional without being pretentious or emo or whatever. In the hands of someone other than Spike Jones it could have been very very bad. Like Vvoid I am not a fan of Joaquin but thought he was fantastic in carrying the movie along with Scarlett relying purely on voice to convey feeling, expression, and everything else.
Kristen Wiig part was funny as shit.
Pussy bitch Draegan sold us out to MMORPG.com
Exodus underway to Rererolled - A Gaming Community
Oh and sorta fuck Tuco too.
I didn't even realize Kristen Wiig was in this...was she the "choke me with a dead cat" cybersex phone call?
Are you guys insane? It's about a MAN that falls in love with HIS PHONE. This movie was bad and you should feel bad.
Movie was absolutely amazing. I cringed a lot initially, but the pay off was very much worth it. Being a bit of a geek I was initially thinking to myself that if they had AI that capable, they would experience a singularity. When a computer becomes self aware it would progressively improve itself until it is beyond the horizon of our understanding. Anyways, I wasn't disappointed = )
Catherine Zeta Jones
Gonna watch this today, will post thoughts. Looks pretty interesting though.
Moral of the story?
Movie was pretty decent, I thought I was going to enjoy it more than I did. I'd give it a solid 7.5/10.
On a side note, this movie depressed the fuck out of me.

Man, I loved it. I was in tears off and on through the whole thing. Definitely not for everyone, but as an empathetic guy, I connected and was along for the ride the whole time. 10/10 for me.
I'm ok with ScoJo being the voice of my OS.
Just saw this the other day, to echo what others have said - it was a really good movie. Possibly my favorite of 2013. The emotion that goes on between Samantha and Theodore really does transcend their physical limitations at times. Seeing them struggle with what is in essence a long distance relationship, the ups and downs that follow, felt very real. Excellent film people should go see.
Echoing what others have said, if you like other Spike Jonze movies, you will like this one. I'm a fairly empathetic person, and I think that immensely contributed to my ability to enjoy the movie. If you're an ice queen, you'll probably find this boring and pretentious.
Can confirm. Movie is boring and pretentious.
Yeah, but I'd be happy if the voice of Scarlett Johansson seemed to actually give a shit about what I was doing on a constant basis.
