Have you tried....a library?
...the general history of language
....napoleon (rise and fall)
My idea for this thread is to ask for book recommendations for topics that are either hard to find or their are so many books about the topic that it becomes hard to find the best book on the subject.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.
http://www.amazon.com/Empires-Word-L...human+language -- I haven't read either.
http://www.amazon.com/Napoleon-Vince...leon+bonaparte -- I read this over a decade ago. Very well done.
I have a unique book that my ex-husband gave me one Christmas, which I have found to be a wonderful resource in not only studying the origin, growth patterns, and mutations of language, but in creating my own dialects, cants, and societal patterns within my own fantasy novels. It is called The Vulgar Tongue, by Francis Grose. I highly recommend looking into it
