Confed Cup starts tomorrow, predicting a Spain victory which isn't really going out on a limb.
It's time for a new thread now that everything that we'll talk about is related to the upcoming season.
ManC sign Fernandinho today for a stupid amount of money IMO. The Netherlands U21 team looks amazing, could have signed half that team for that money.
Confed Cup starts tomorrow, predicting a Spain victory which isn't really going out on a limb.
Spain should roll through it. I was tempted to pick Mexico as a sleeper, but they've looked so poor the last 2 months its hard to see them winning any games. Rumor today/yesterday is Barca going in for Torres with 17m bid. Think that would actually benefit both parties, and would give Chelski some cash to throw at Cavani.
LOL, this is classic:
George Caulkin @CaulkinTheTimes 26m
Lke old times. Kinnear calls Derek Llambias David, speaks about "Arab invasion" of PL, says he wasn't accepted before because not a Geordie.

3rd worst manager in Forest history, lucky for him RacistRon and TwatPlatt keep him out of the top spots. Absolutely clueless back then and can't see him having learned anything new by now.
The fact he hasn't even met the manager yet tells you all you need to know about how that club is being run.
Couple good games on today - Uruguay/Spain, Mexico/Italia. Will be interested in seeing how Spain plays after getting bounced in the last Confed Cup. Think Brazil wins it - they looked sharp yesterday.
Lots of good teams in the Confed Cup. A Brazil vs Spain match would be epic.
Great FK from Suarez, but not a good showing for Uruguay. Absolutely raped. Sick of the over-acting bullshit by the Spain players though - they're better than that. Soldado after one game has become a guy I simply fucking hate. What an annoying whiner. Spain bringing on Mata, Cazorla & Martinez in second half just shows how deep they are. Would all 3 be starters for Engerland (and most teams to be fair).
Considering how Uruguay has been playing in their WC qualifying this wasn't much of a surprise. Tahiti about to get embarrassed.
Udinese turn down Vydra bid
Since that's your first post I'm not sure who your referencing as the bidder nor that Vydra is even good enough for anyone to care.
In more important news, Kinnear's talkSport interview yesterday is fucking classic. Did he pronounce one single players name correctly? Yohan kebab lol!!!!!
Fixture List - Somewhat surprised that LFC doesn't have a tougher first 6 games in case Suarez stays and has to finish his ban here. Only the Aug. 30th game vs. ManU looks tough, LFC should have a much better start than last year.
Carroll sale to WHU confirmed, thank god for Fat Sam.
United's first 5 fixtures are nightmareish:
17 – Swansea (A)
24 – Chelsea (H)
31 – Liverpool (A)
14 – Crystal Palace (H)
21 – Manchester City (A)
Good luck Moyes'y. Gonna be dropped points here and there and sitting 3rd in the table to the teams with easier starts for a while until things even out, probably get a ton of media flak in the process.
I love silly season.
It's from Thiago's match ball, and it says "see you in Manchester" - supposedly written by De Gea.
Arse gets a really manageable opening to the season - Hope they take advantage of it and don't fuck around until January like usual. Lots of transfer speculation - Isco to Man City would absolutely devastate me. Best young player in the world for me. Thiago and Illaramendi are up there as well - that entire young Spanish side is fucking ace - and play much more fun football than the senior squad. Arsenal seem to be closing in on Higuain, which would suit me just fine. He'll walk into first team.
Isco to ManC is basically a done deal, sorry to burst your bubble but there is no way he's going to choose Arsenal over ManC. LFC could definitely use Illaramendi to either partner or replace Lucas but that's almost as big of a pipe dream as Isco is for us.
Anyway, pretty poor Brazil/Mexico game. Can't see either even getting close to Spain though at least Brazil will have a chance to play them seeing as how Mexico is done assuming an Italy win starting in about an hour.
This Japan/Italy match is ridiculous. Japan coming on and putting in a really tidy shift after getting pasted on the weekend. Honda is a free xfer this summer - a club like Pool/Spurs would do well to pick him up, but that would probably make too much sense.
PSG appears on the brink of total egg on their face embarrassment - First AVB turns them down (good on him), then Capello is supposedly going to be hired as a 1-year stop gap manager until they can make a move for a bigger name - and Capello comes out today and flat denies any link. The problem for a club like that (as City is finding out), is there are only so many world class managers around - and none seem terribly eager to jump into a Chelski like situation.
Yep, Japan/Italy was a much better game. I don't think Honda is a free until January but he is pretty good. No idea why nobody has talked about a move, maybe he really likes Moscow?
Ya not sure - and you might be right on January, but he'd ease into a top 6 BPL side with no problem I'd think. I'd like him at Arsenal, but we wouldn't move for him as he'd "stunt" Chambo's growth. He was the best player on the pitch tonight imo. Can't believe Japan lost that - they were camped in Italy's box for the last 20 minutes of the game. Confed Cup is fun, but its only wetting the appetite for the main event next summer. Started to look into tickets/hotels in Rio for the opening stuff - but fucking everything nice is booked up already. My own fault for not locking down earlier.
If reports are true then ManC has to be kicking themselves for losing out on Isco at the last minute. Every report basically states Zidane stepped in and convinced him he needed to come to Madrid with the deal basically done now.
I like that LFC is signing Mignolet so we're not scrambling when Reina leaves but it could make for a strange year if he doesn't leave this summer.
Tevez to Juve, guessing that means Higuain is going to the Gunners.
Will be interesting to see what Reina ends up doing - think on his day he is a better GK than Mignolet, but that won't be the case for too much longer and I'm not sure he's down for that kind of competition. Tevez is a good fit at Juve, think he'll do well in Italy.
Biggest xfer saga still seems to be Cavani - only a few clubs can afford him, and none have made any really serious effort to sign him. Thiago to Manc still seems doable - Isco to RM is all I could ask for - would have hated him in the BPL.
Arsenal have done a fair job so far of unloading a lot of dead weight (though I won't be totally satisfied until Bendtner/Chamakh are totally off the books) - but haven't done anything of note yet. Signed Sanogo it would seem, but he's just another decent prospect. Anything less than 2-3 big money moves (for Arsenal that means >$18m) will be met with a ton of dissent. Make or break summer for Arsenal/Wenger, who could genuinely be managing PSG this time next year if things don't go well.
Not long now until summer tours/pre-season tournaments/friendlies get going again....
I don't think Higuain will do that well, he's more a poacher than anything else. When you watch him play for RM he just sits off the CB's shoulder and that's it, no link up or hold up play. I would have been more worried if it had been Benzema who's definitely more mobile and involved in the play, there was a reason he was the starter this whole last year.
Not going to debate it, as there are Arsenal fans who feel the same - but I completely disagree. Most goals in Spain the past 6 years save Ronaldo/Messi - the best players on the planet, and he's not even first choice. Playing with Ronaldo and still scoring is okay with me. He may come in and flop, but he's still young/hungry and he's never been the focal point of an attack. That might hinder him as much as help him though, time will tell. He's also been excellent for Argentina, playing with the GOAT. Moot until he signs anyways, but I'd have taken him over Rooney at the start of the summer (a stance a lot of Arsenal fans disagree with). if he comes in at the estimated price of $22m pounds, the price is right as well.
That said, if he's the only "big" player to come in - we still have problems. Arteta is solid, but we need a Fellaini/Bender etc. Hard to see Arsenal spending $40+ on 2 players alone.
Italy should be up by 2 goals at least.... will probably come back to bite them in the ass now. Torres just missed a great chance. Really hoping for a Spain/Brazil final.
Can't decide which team I want to lose more...
England take note, this is how you take penalties
LOL at Bonucci, wow. Even in defeat you gotta love Pirlo, balls of steal.
Fucking great - love PK's. Bonucci.... fuck man. That was really fun, final/3rd place games should both be really fun.
Not sure how I'll be able to cheer Barca with that prick Neymar playing. The ref is sure letting Brazil tackle without fear of a card. Good game though.
This game on right now is pretty good. Spain looks shell shocked.

One of the best 45 min team shifts I've seen in a while - Brazil tactically is tearing Spain apart.... That Luiz block was the play of the half, and Neymar continuing his fantastic form this tournament. What a player. Xavi/Iniesta are invisible. Atmosphere in that stadium looks awesome - kicking myself for waiting to book hotels/tickets for next summer.
Iniesta's not invisible. He's the only one not a walking turnover. The game reminds me of Barca @Milan this year. Other than the one chance for Pedro, Spain have no idea how to get behind the defense. They look old and slow and (apparently) no David Villa to bail them out with a goal. Brazil is looking legit as fuck though. Another year of growth and they could be a real force the next few tournaments.
edit - and a 3rd in 2 minutes. rofl.
Mourinho is doing an evil head shake with that softie let in by Casillas.
First Bayern rapes Barca, now Brazil is absolutely destroying Spain. End of an era? Not sure - think Spain still have to be favorites next summer, but the fact that they literally have no plan b - no other way to play - will be tough for them next summer. Italy should have won earlier this week anyways, but simply weren't talented/clinical enough. Would love to see a Germany/Brazil. Brazils physical play has totally disrupted Spain, and nobody in a Spain kit will feel like they've played to their level tonight.
Well done Brazil. Neymar is player of the tournament for me.
Don't forget a few weeks ago that it was Brazil 2-2 England so therefore England > Spain.
Scolari deserves some credit as well for his plan tonight - great tournament and warmup for next summer. Can't wait.
Don't think Spain needs to blow it up yet, but they do need some speed up front. It's pretty telling that Sergio Ramos and occasionally Pique were the only ones making runs for Spain. If Alba can't get forward then it was 2-3 Spaniards vs 5+ Brazilians all game. Xavi definitely needs to go though. He can't get forward with any pace anymore. No double pivot and Busquets got run over. I think Javi Martinez probably should be the new rock and partner Sergio/Alonso.
Super pumped for next year. Need to go hibernate. So far away.
They need to change things up, Xavi no longer has much of an impact in the big games anymore, plus teams are starting to figure out how to beat Spain. So, imo they need to put azpilicueta on instead of Arbeloa (who I've NEVER rated for a top team), get rid of the midfield completely instead of Iniesta by putting Fabregas and Martinez in with him, then upfront have Navas, Negredo and Mata.
Yeah, this is like Spain's 5th loss in the last 7 years or something like that? I'm pretty sure these same comments were being made during the WC2010 group games and last years Euro's until they crushed Italy in the final. Xavi is definitely getting long in the tooth where he may end up being a sub and Arbeloa is pretty mediocre, that said I would put money now on Spain getting to the final in Brazil. They created enough chances yesterday for the game to be a lot closer, and I don't think Brazil would get a ref so lenient 2 games in a row.
Yeah ESPN's match stats list 26 fouls by Brazil and 0 yellow cards. That's insane.
Most of the times that werent fouls, just a radom player breathing heavily next to a wimpy flopper.
There actually weren't many flops yesterday. I was fairly surprised by it.

Yeah, Dyvim is just retarded. Oscar, Paulinho and Luis Agusto all could have seen multiple yellows yesterday with Oscar being the worst in that in theory he could have been sent off in the first 20 minutes.
Most of Spain/Barca's core have been playing non-stop for club and country for like 5 years now, those dudes have to be mad tired or at least burnt out - they sure do look it lately.
The twitters is saying that Thiago to United is a done deal.
Anelka is back!
Signed a 1 year deal at the mighty West Brom. He should grow a beard and pretend he is the second coming of Cyrille Regis tbh. Damn he was awesome!
Didn't even realize I was posting in the old thread.
Re: Suarez - the more I think about this "bid" the more annoyed/perplexed I am. 30m doesn't scratch the surface of his value, so if you're really interested in the player - the bid is an absolute joke.
If, as theorized on twitter & elsewhere Arsenal are bidding simply to "force Perez/RM's hand" - its even more of joke. As someone whose interested in Suarez, Perez knows Suarez' valuation as well as anyone - and a 30m bid for the guy isn't going to do anything but make the man chuckle. There are from what I can tell 5 really good strikers available right now (or psuedo available - in order of most valuable to least).
1: Cavani - PSG all but done, 55m
2: Lewandowski - Probably staying/Bayern next season anyways
3: Suarez - Probably leaving, cost of at/near 50m
4: Rooney - Not sure - but will cost around 30?
5: Higuain - Probably Arsenal, around 25m
There is only one guy on that list Arsenal can afford - and EVERYONE KNOWS IT. Just fucking pay Real Madrid the extra 2-3m and be done with it. Dickering around with players you can't afford seems absolutely childish to me. After those 5 guys, there just aren't many appealing options available really. Wish the fucking season would roll around and start again - summer is the worst.
I've tried to stay away from saying much as most transfers won't mean shit in the end but I would guess at this point Suarez will be an LFC player this year. Madrid wouldn't pay 52m for Cavani and LFC is going to want close to 50m for Suarez, so why would RM then pay what they would have for Cavani instead for Suarez? The Arsenal bid is definitely a joke, instead of it forcing Madrid's hand I see it more as being able to tell the fans you at least tried but nobody would sell as Sanogo ends up being their main signing. Dortmund already confirmed Lewandowski will go to Bayern next summer.
In real news, great bit of business by A. Madrid in picking up David Villa for only 2m euro's to start with. Amazing deal even for a striker on the wrong side of 30.
Barca paid 40m for Villa, sold him for 4m. Arsenal was willing to shell out 12m on him 6 months ago. Well done.
Unreal deal for Atletico - man have they had some fucking brilliant strikers. Forlan, Torres, Villa, Aguero, Falcao.... You know its the silly season when Dwight Gayle cost twice as much as David Villa in the xfer market.
Would love to see Liverpool stick it to Arsenal for trying to play games by dealing Suarez to Madrid for Higuin + 30m.
Gives us a ready made replacement for the next couple of years along with cash to invest in youth and denying a rival a obvious upgrade. Benteke probably a good option, especially since he's handed in a request.
Would have also liked to see Villa or Gomez given the prices they went for even if they are past their prime and won't have any resale.

Dortmund done some excellent business reinvesting the money from Gotze in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Now if they can just get two more class signings, a defensive mid and perhaps another attacking mid, they'll challenge Bayern next season imo.
I thought you were joking at first but then I saw this on the BBC Sport rumour page - GARETH BARRY has opened talks with Arsenal over a possible £4m move to the Emirates.Originally Posted by Ashin

Gonzalo Higuain switch to Arsenal in doubt after Real Madrid claim the Gunners have not even made a bid for the striker
Gonzalo Higuain's move to Arsenal has been thrown into doubt after Real Madrid president Florentino Perez claimed the Gunners were yet to make a bid for the striker.
Perez also claims Real Madrid do not want to sell the Argentina international...
...during an interview with Univision, Perez insisted: "We don't want Higuain to leave. What's more no-one from Arsenal has come to us and made us any offers at all for him. There are no offers on the table."
Barry.... imagine that is the only incoming player this summer. Don't know why I get so invested in this bullshit - working a multi-million dollar oil deal, and I find myself ducking out to refresh twitter every hour on the hour. Fuck me......
Still think Arsenal should have made a bid for Gomez, they could easily pay more than the 17M of Florence and hes a good striker for the next say 2-3 years so they would have time to go for another by then.
Not sure why this is surprising, Wenger blames ManC and Chelski for ruining his well laid plans with their big money and not his own shortcomings. He's not going to change and Kroenke is just fine collecting the money in the background along with all the other Arsenal directors. It's a bit like the Cubs, why spend money when you're going to sell out every game anyway?
Gareth Barry? That is fucking pitiful. One of the most overrated players I can remember
Thiago looking likely to end up at Bayern. Seems like nobody really fancies a move to England at the moment, as I was reading his move to Manc was all but assured.
It would be surprising for The Arsenal to not sign any established players this summer because this is the only summer I can recall in recent memory where the club (Gazidis in particular) have made a point to explain exactly how much cash they have to spend on transfers. It makes absolutely zero sense to expose that, "fake bid" for players to appease the fans, and then do nothing. Zero. If they don't spend $20m on a player this summer (at least 1), the cacophony of noise at The Emirates next season will be deafening - and AW will be in Paris a summer from now. I still think Higuain is going to happen, and I'm perfectly happy with that. Still need another MF, and Julio Cesar will make it a positive summer. Suarez to RM for Higgy +cash won't happen - No CL.
Mkhitaryan looked fantastic for BVB today. BPL missing out on some real quality so far this summer.
Wilfred Bony to Swansea for £12m, might not be a bad deal that. Looks as if he scores pretty consistently with a good record in Holland, could do quite well in the EPL with the style and players Swansea have available
I think the Bony deal is a great deal. Laudrup is a really impressive guy with a good nose in the xfer market.
Read that Real were still sniffing around Bale - I just don't see them paying the kind of cash that Spuds are asking, and Bale doesn't strike me as a guy to force his way out. Tottenham were really clever to hire AVB, if for no other reason than his relationships with his players. Spuds still need a decent striker - Benteke would be a great signing - Still short of fighting for the league, but top 4 would be a realistic possibility (depending on other clubs' comings and goings this summer). The question is, if Spurs somehow keep Bale and somehow finish in the top 4 - would Bale bolt next summer? He's young, but every year he spends in London is a year he doesn't spend in Madrid - developing, getting attention (in a way he never would at Spurs), and playing with the very best players in the world. Will be interesting, as he seems to have his heart set on Madrid (if he in fact moves).
I'm not that impressed with Benteke to be honest.
How many one season wonders have we seen? He looks like a decent striker but more in the mould of being a slightly better Emile Heskey. He need to consistently score goals over 2-3 seasons to justify a £25M price tag. I personally won't pay anything more than £10M for him at present time and won't be too bothered if he doesn't come. We certainly need another striker but I am sure you will be able to find better deals elsewhere.
Heck, Gomez - £17M, Villa - £5M, Higuain - (reportedly £25M) and Benteke - £25M? Okay, he is young but you pay for being proven goalscorer and Benteke after 1 decent season is not that yet. Adebayor scored tons of goals 2 years ago and look at him last year.
If there is anything you can count on with Spurs it's that Levy undervalues everybody else's players and overvalues his own, there is no way he'll pay anywhere near 25m for Benteke so the argument is pretty moot. They'll find someone on the cheap and hope it works out, same thing they have done every year prior.
Agreed that he's not on that top tier yet - maybe never will be... but losing out on Villa (who everyone seemed to think was a "lock"), and with the market the way it is currently I think it'll be tough to grab a decent striker for $20m. Also surprised no English clubs tried to land Gomez - interesting to see that Real Madrid/Ibra might be something... if that happens, what happens to Suarez? Pool fans are ripping the guy apart on twitter/message boards - and frankly, they have a right to. While I would love the guy at Arsenal, he has handled the situation really poorly. Not sure he'll like what he finds (reception wise) if he stays at Pool next season, and if Madrid bring in Ibra (a long with the talent they have coming up) I don't see where he would play anyways. Thought all along he would be a great fit at Bayern, but they are so deep right now its almost unbelievable. Even Thiago doesn't make a ton of sense with the players they have and have purchased this summer. Thiago is good enough to force his way in, but at whose expense? Hoping that means Gustavo is on the way out - too good a player to sit on bench.
Agree with that, can't see Tottenham getting a striker in this window unless Adebayor or Defoe goes, even then though, there's no obvious upgrades they can make for less than £15m. Gomez would have ripped the league apart against the smaller teams. Surprised Chelsea didn't bring him in to mentor Lukaku for a season or two. Disagree with Ibra/Madrid, just can't see that happening especially as Ibra is the wrong side of 30, would command at least £20m, AND probably be on £10m a season. Can actually see Guardiola trying out Goetze as a false #9 with Thiago in the hole, and Kroos/Schweinsteiger behind.
We will see Götze play a false 9 often. He did in his youth teams alot and also did in the national team once or twice (despite Löw being a dumbfuck).
Guardiola reportedly wanted Neymar at first but ended up with Götze as 2nd option, which makes sense with Dante, Rafinha and Luiz Gustavo allready having 3 Brazil and non european players possibly on the field.
There's no way Suarez will go to Arsenal as you'd have to pry the amount of money it would take for LFC to say yes to that out of Wenger/Kroenke's cold, dead hands. I think in the end he's not going to have anywhere to go, Madrid knows they can't afford any slip ups to stay with Barca and having Suarez sit for the first 6 games after spending 45m plus on him is just retarded.
I actually think the LFC heirachy would be fine with Suarez leaving at this point as would most fans, just not to any EPL team. Bayern isn't going for him nor is Madrid most likely, that basically leaves no team that could actually afford him sans Anzi which would be hilarious.
Also the issues regarding Xavi and how he slows play/is ineffective lately... blame Tito 100%. He kept playing Xavi when the league was won and kept Thiago on the bench. Xavi still has plenty of gas in the tank, but he cannot play 50 game seasons. Since 07/08 he has been at 54, 54, 52, 50, 51, and 48 games. In addition during this time he played at the 2008 Euro, the 2009 Confed Cup, the 2010 World Cup, the 2012 Euro, the 2013 Confed Cup, and tons of qualification/friendly games. This is a player who reached his peak around 27-28 and up until now has played around 350 or so games in that span. He needs to have Tito save him for crucial games and keep his total to around 25-30 games max. Cesc and hopefully Thiago should take the rest of the games. In addition during this spring he kept being forced back into the team due to having to play RM, AC Milan, and Bayern yet never allowed to fully heal from injuries. The coaching staff is basically running him into the ground needlessly.

Interesting also how their two squads right now, need major regeneration.
Well Madrid just signed Illarramendi for a frankly ridiculous sum of money. He might be worth that some day, but not now. He was more expensive than both Thiago & Isco. Crazy. He was fantastic this summer though. Passenger, just man up and realize Barca made a mistake signing Cesc and give him back to us. Please. Gomez wouldn't really fit with what Arsenal need atm. He's a fine forward, but better used in a different system.
The problem with Barca and Cesc is with him being forced into the team and unnatural positions. They keep trying to play him in odd locations/formations just to make him fit into the starting 11 and justify his transfer. They need to forget about his false 9/striker partnership with Messi/forward positions and just put him in the middle already. It seems that for every game he gets in the middle (when Xavi isn't playing and Barca play a random weak team), he gets 5-10 games in idiotic forward positions. With the forward 3 being semi-solidified with Neymar/Messi/Sanchez-Pedro-Tello, hopefully they forget about Cesc being upfront and focus on rotating down Xavi's games and contribution, and turning Cesc into the midfielder he was at Arsenal.
Interesting enough, of the 57m euro's spent on Neymar only 9m actually went to Santos. The rest went to 3rd parties, agents and Neymar's dad.
Moyes has actually got quite a difficult task. They need a new winger or two, and two more bodies in central midfield (Carrick has NEVER impressed me when he plays against the best teams). Btw does anyone here actually rate Johnny Evans? Makes too many mistakes for a top class centreback imo.
That's a rather strange set of critiques.
A winger would have to depart first before I'd see a new signing to be honest. Wingers had a terrible performance season last, Nani has had a bad time with injuries and performances in between, Valencia had a mare and Young also. But Nani & Valencia can easily step into new gears and act like a fresh signing, and I'd much rather give Zaha the chance to blossom rather than relegate him to the reserve team due to having 4 wingers ahead of him. So unless any one of the first 3 depart, keep faith.
Carrick is by and large the exact type of player you want in a match vs Madrid, City, Chelsea, etc. Last season he played on par or above in all of these fixtures (inb4 brando with your useless pair of eyes), he finally won over the majority of his critics last season (of which any United fan can tell you he's been on this form for a few seasons already). He's not out there to impress anyone, nor is a player like Busquets or Alonso but by and large they all put in performance after performance which is critical to the flow & success of their team.
But ultimately, no one can do it alone if they are paired with Giggs, or if Jones is on man-mark duty. Scholes is gone, Cleverly was promptly removed from selection due to poor performances in key matches during the last half of the season, Anderson is STILL injured more than half the time. Moyes can afford to buy someone that can solidify that hole, certainly. But certainly not 2 new players..
Evans is already an accomplished highly rated centre back. He's had to slot in for many matches due to the fragility of Ferdinand & now Vidic but rarely have you noticed their departure. Things start to go hairy once both Ferdinand & Vidic are both out though because Smalling tends to be the replacement and they haven't paired well together very often.
At least Moyes has United off to a good start..... Friendlies mean absolutely nothing, but yikes. As if the "Suarez to Arsenal" rumors weren't ridiculous enough, "Cesc to United" comes along to become easily the dumbest rumor of the xfer season.
Think Carrick is fantastic in his role - the problem is, the talent surrounding him in the middle of the pitch is lacking atm. They need to get that sorted before anything I reckon. Evans is a versatile guy, but not sure I'd rate him.
Interested to see the U-20 WC final today - France is loaded with good young talent. Zouma, Kondogbia, Pogba, Sanogo, Thauvin.... think they take it today. 2 of those guys are ready made to play for big sides now (Kondogbia/Pogba) - are United fans pissed/annoyed with how good Pogba has gotten? He's been excellent this summer.
Thiago deal seems finalized for 19m. Great deal for Bayern - they will be interesting to watch next summer. Even if they are a better side next season, it will be difficult to replicate the success of this year.
Wonder if Bayern will sell off some players now. As they have a really packed midfield.
Bidding on Thiago was pointless, as he had a buyout clause. As soon as he accepted the personal terms, Bayern just payed the clause and he was gone.
Its a strange bid. Similar to Arsenal "bidding big" (derp) for Suarez, only to be immediately rejected. Almost looks/seems as if both clubs are making big bids, knowing full well they'll be rejected - to ease the minds of supporters. Still think Madrid makes a move on Suarez soon opening the door for Higuain to leave. As for Manc - not sure who is available that will make them a better side. Keep hearing Fellaini - who I love - but he's not the type of player Manc needs. He's the type of player Arsenal needs though. Cesc would actually be a good fit at United, but I don't see it happening. Same sentiments re: Suarez to Arsenal. He's exactly what Arsenal need - but it won't happen either.
Not to mention Arsenal has a first option w/ Cesc (as well as a 50% sell on fee). So essentially, if Barca did sell to United for 40m - we'd get half - assuming of course we passed on him (& he turns us down - can't force someone to come back). All in all, two very strange bids. Hope for both sides' sakes that they are smokescreens and both clubs are making moves behind the scenes. If so, bravo - if not, there will be a lot to answer for come August.
