Some quality costume design that's for sure. Looks like they need one last cash cow before this generation of consoles goes away in December?
I wasn't expecting anyone to revive Starcraft: Ghost, but good for Activision for trying to monetize Blizzard harder. One of these days Blizzard will finally get around to nickle-and-diming people like they're supposed to!
In all seriousness, like AC4, it's a cross-gen game that probably re-uses a lot of material from recent games, and will undoubtedly be the lower-key stopgap entry before they blow the doors off again with the next-gen focused / next-gen only entry in 2014 or so.
Supposedly this will use a brand new engine and will be available as one of the titles for the new consoles. Also it releases a day after Battlefield 4, lol.
Also gameplay videos will be revealed when the new Xbox is revealed at the microsoft event.
10/10 IGN rated GOTY - most innovative shooter of 2013
This was pretty spot on. Especially the point about them asking for preorders w/o showing any game footage.
Like you even need to pre-order this. Gamestop is going to have a billion copies of it on launch day. Pre-ordered used to actually mean something

I am always a fan of live action shots to help portray a game. But not a whole fucking "trailer". And the gall they have, asking for pre-orders... Lol.
Oh, and I will be both saddened and not very surprised if they get a lot of pre-orders. : /
LOL, this game will make a billion in the first week guaranteed.
I dont really know why all the fucking hate for this franchise, to be honest. I men, I dont play it but my kids do. They have hundreds of hours logged into MW3 or BLOPS1 or 2. I actually got BLOPS 2 for the PC this time around since I caught a sale for $30 and I enjoyed it for what it was.
I understand that this franchise is a cash grab, but for what it is its a pretty good one. The controls are tight, maps are OK...etc.
I enjoyed modern warfare a lot. Sank plenty of time into it. I ended up getting bad company and was instantly hooked on the battlefield style of play. Got blops and played maybe two hours of it and returned it, haven't looked back since. I'm not sure what it would take for me to return to this series.
I enjoyed the hell out of Modern Warfare 1... everything after that was rehash and simplification. Only the bros and kids play these games. I can't imagine anyone here plays them seriously.
You're sitting at a table eating a pretty damn good meal that someone cooked for you and a few others. Everything about the meal is awesome, and when you're done eating, you ask for seconds, which are even better. You're full, but the cook places another dish in front of you. This one is pretty damn different, but just as good.
This is where your retarded cousin and his innappropriately aged male friend walks in. They see that you have obviously enjoyed the meal and help themselves to a serving.
The retard and his little shithead friend stop calling each other faggots for two seconds and declare this the best meal they've ever had.
The cook hears this and walks over to the table and proceeds to literally vomit all over the table and then tells them that this will taste even better.
You watch in horror as Corki the wonder-downsy and his faggot little friend slurp up every last bit of it, vomit it back out and then eat that.
You're about to get the fuck out of there, but your asshole uncle, Ignateous walks in with Chef Motherfucking Ramsy and they present the cook with a cheque for three billion dollars and an award for best meal of the decade.
The sounds of repeated regurgitations fill your ears as you leave.
A week later you head to your favorite restaurant, Papa Epic's, sit down and pick up the menu... But the only item on the list is the same regurgitated bullshit from the previous week.
No matter where you try to eat from that point on, you cannot avoid being served vomit. Runny vomit with chunks. Thick vomit with corn. Putrid vomit with Korean food mixed in. Blurry vomit with sparkles. Alphaghetti-o vomit that spells out I fucked your whore mother you little faggot ass cunt.
Welcome to the new culinary standard. Enjoy your fucking meal.
So I take it you dont like the game?
And yet you still play wow which is the same regurgitation, but youre even paying a monthly fee for it. From the same company, in fact.

A war is coming, I've seen it in my dreams. Fires sweeping over the Earth, bodies in the streets, cities turned to dust... retaliation.
Hollywood is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until everything you love is dead.
I'll just leave this here as well
I don't understand how this sells so big over and over when PC gamers completely ignore it. I doubt there is a bigger gap outside of maybe Madden. Nobody who plays PC games gives a fuck about COD.
my dad still loves these games and buys all of them just for the single player on PC.
Also, holy shit are users trashing the hell out of this game on meta critic.

Don't buy this game - the only company making decent CoD games these days is TreyArch, which is funny if you think about it. Infinity Ward is staffed by a bunch of leftover developers from extraneous Activision studios.
I've enjoyed the multi player of them all. Although some were better than others. I don't even bother with the single player usually. Fun for an hour to kill people and get out without any commitments. Not the popular position here /shrug
My roommate/friend is one of those COD gamers that the Activision exec described a week ago. He play COD every day... but for all intents and purposes, he is not even a gamer. He doesn't buy anything else, and rarely plays anything else. He is absolutely a casual gamer, except when it comes to COD. If you asked him one game that Naughty Dog has made, he would say "What's Naughty Dog"? He pre-ordered his PS4 at 4am the first night, just to get the new COD pre-order package. His Playstation gets used for COD and Blue Rays, that's it.
That is some loyalty.
I know I gave this game shit, but if you buy Battlefield or CoD expecting the singleplayer to be anything but hot garbage you are an idiot.
I was mostly joking
Don't you EVER talk shit about the McOyster again!
New egg is selling every version for 45 bucks on ebay
If you have a PS4, just upgrade for 10 bucks, and the price is still lower then the list price.
Just because someone has the means to buy a Lamborgini, does not make them a car enthusiast or a racer. They might drive the thing every day, but if you asked them to look under the hood, they would say "that's what my mechanic is for". If you asked why they don't have an SUV for playing on the weekends, they would give you a puzzled look, almost to say, "what would I need that for?"
The COD gaming franchise has done a remarkable job capturing and keeping people who don't even know their new games are out till they see a TV commercial saying so. By and large, these are not people going to Game Trailers to check a review or keeping tabs on release dates through IGN. It is fast food gaming for the masses... and it works.
Picked up BF4 the other day and COD#123 will be here tomorrow in the mail, will be upgrading both when the ps4 comes to the door and will 96% only play those two games until the next playstation release.
I have liked every single cod and bf game so far and unless it's REALLY fucking bad, MAYBE I won't buy the next few, highly doubt it though. There's only 24 hours in a day and I sleep for 6, I enjoy killing little kids and assholes who bitch into the mic on FPS's and that's worth whatever the cost is for these games and xbox/ps4/wii/neogeo.
Don't rush to get the PC version, it is terribly disappointing. The game (MP) looks terrible by today's standards. This would have been a good looking game 4+ years ago. There is something about the running animation that just feels off to me. There is no sense of weight, just a floatyness when I run. The maps I have played so far I liked, but the gameplay just has a blandness about it. I expected COD to take up most of my gaming time, as it consistently has in the past. I'll spend more time with it this week and hope that I discover something to hold my attention. After my second round, I kept thinking about how much more fun I was having in BF4.
That's just sad. After the last few years with Madden and seeing the same laziness I'm done giving EA my money. At least with this genre we have an alternative with the battlefield series. With Madden they bought exclusive rights as soon as the competition passed them by (2k series). They haven't even released anything other than edited highlights for the PS4 version of Madden yet, which is ridiculous this close to launch. They've had legacy issues going on over 4 years in the series that should be simple fixes that they don't even bother correcting because they know people are going to buy it because there really isn't another option.
At least this time around with COD reviewers are catching on as most PS4 COD reviews have been calling them out on the lack of innovation and advancement in the series. On the console side I'm finally starting to see more and more diehard COD fans switching to battlefield.
After 36+ hours of Multiplayer I can honestly say this game is garbage and a HUGE step back. Where to begin:
-6 maps at launch? You're joking right. What a complete copout/scam to get people to buy DLC's. It instantly makes me hate the game when I am stuck playing the same map over and over 1 day into launch.
-Maps are TERRIBLY designed. WAY too much multi level stuff going on and the textures and colors of the map make it nearly impossible to differentiate the players from them. Not sure if this was their intention but I prefer games of skill as opposed to games of "SURPRISE MAP BUTTSEKX!"
-Their incessant determination to eliminate bottlenecks and "one-ways" has essentially turned every map into a giant arena where there is no way to hold any area. The few rounds of Domination and that CTF type style (forget the name atm) are literally just rotating "A is captured. We lost A! - B is captured. We lost B! - C is captured. We lost C!" over and over for 10 minutes until the game ends before points win out. There's something to be said about balancing spots that you can camp/defend and opening lines of site to EVERY intersection on the map.
Is every weapon the same in this game or is it just me? Every assault rifle is ridiculously overpowered. The starting gun is the best in the game and why do they give you Level 60 perks right out of the gate? What happened to working to earn that awesome weapon? The idea of being able to buy the best shit at Level 10 is fucking stupid and whoever thought of it needs to be fired asap. Remember in MW2/3 when you had to get to Level 55/60 to unlock the god mode AK47? Where's that sense of achievement and respect earned when someone kills you with it? The weapons are so diluted and undifferentiated that it makes them all seem like garbage. I mean shit, is it even possible to get the 10-12-15 kill Assault Streaks in this game? I've never seen anyone go on a run like that because every gun is a 2 shot kill from any distance. I remember when needing to shoot accurately was important. Not anymore. Just shoot and people fall over dead.
What exactly is the incentive for me to unlock these 10 characters each with 6 loadouts? Honestly, do I really need 60 different possible builds and do you really expect me to manage them all? It's like 40 boxing WoW and running your own raid. I don't want to fucking be bothered with that. I play one character on 6 different maps. How many possible fucking builds does one person need access to? When it comes to end game in a week when everyone has everything unlocked there's only going to be 1-3 setups that will be paramount over all the others. Get rid of it! Simplicity is the key to these games and this overcomplication is an ugly fucking trend.
All that being said.. I am going to keep playing this hunk of trash because all my friends are playing it. I am thinking of giving BF a try as I have never played one of the FPS since BF1942 (which is still fucking awesome btw). We will see after another week or two of playing how I still feel about this game. They're a far cry from MW3 and I truly think they'll never live up to that caliber again because of this constant urge to "innovate"
When fohguild.org is in ashes, then you have my permission to die.
This whole mantra of breaking down perks into multiple lesser perks, having every gun be good regardless of range, twenty different lines of sight to every spot on a map, instant re-spawn behind enemy lines, weakening of kill streaks with increased difficulty of obtaining. Fuck I could go on and on. I really miss MW1-3 or BO1.
Wow... EA takes rehashing to a new levelAre you guys idiots? I don't like EA much either but Call of Duty is published by Activision. That's just sad. After the last few years with Madden and seeing the same laziness I'm done giving EA my money.
EA publishes Battlefield, and soon Titanfall.
this game is fucken tighteeeeeeeeee
Sup all. I'm someone who has bought basically every cod because I consider it kind of the last great populated arcade shooter since Quake and UT fell off the map and tribes went to f2p grind bullshit. So I basically buy it every year and play it as an FFA game. I haven't regretted any of them really, but I hate everything about this installment and think it's by far the worst. I didn't like bo2 much but it was playable. This is probably my last CoD though.
Shotguns are neutered into abject uselessness ( shot one dude four times from behind and he didn't die, and then he whirled around and 2-hitted me with the MSBS full auto), the class/squad system is an annoying cluttered mess, the maps are huge while only allowing like 8 people on most, and the starter class basically throws a silenced gun with dead silence, silent takedown, and immunity to uavs at you from level 1. The giant maps and defacto-silence classes means the entire game is a bunch of assholes camping in clutter. I went TWO FUCKING MINUTES in an FFA game running around looking for people before someone sniper me across the map. No shit. 2 literal minutes. Even if you're generally forgiving of cod like I am, avoid this one like the plague. It plays more like a battlefield game, and who the fuck wants to play 8 player battlefield?
The squad system is double retarded because you unlock items individually on members but can't switch in-game. So if you unlock 3 sniper rifles and put them on your sniper character and want to use them, but you started a game as your assault rifle guy, too fucking bad since he doesn't have any sniper rifles and only has 4 loadouts unlocked anyway.
I know activision is greedy/lazy/the devil and all, but it blows my mind how fucking phoned in this game is. Also, it rewards you with money for doing dumb shit like teabagging people.

Like I said, MW1 was the last great COD game. MW2 could've been great, but it was the beginning of that steaming pile of shit you guys got today.
Can Activision do anything right or do they fuck everything up?
Well this is fucken disappointing I might buy BF 4 instead of this.
Eh, people bitch because it's fun.
I've been playing and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I like that you don't have to be 50+ to get to the good stuff, if you know what you like you can pretty much get most of it right away or within a few hours of playing. Who the fuck thinks this is bad? Are you honestly playing these games for the leveling? Get the fuck out.
Bitching about some copied ending? Shut the fuck up and go play multiplayer like everyone else. They copied elements from the ending of a game to the beginning of another? No one cares. Like BF4 has a better campaign? Right. The levels in this game are pretty amazing, there is one that has too much shit going on that makes it difficult to tell where the enemy is. Tbh BF4 and this game aren't what we should have gotten, they both could be better. But out of the two, Ghost is the better FPS, hands down.

I was doing an FFA in that one level with the parking garage and I seriously went two minutes running around and I never saw anyone because they were either hiding in a remote corner or rocking dead silence/silencer/silent takedown. A lot of the FFA maps needed to be 12-14 people instead of 6-8. A lot of maps just feel horribly empty. I know FFA isn't really their focus, but it's pretty disappointing compared to older games. I feel like 90% of the FFA games time out and don't finish instead of getting to the 30 kill cap win. I've put about 8 hours in and I just am not feeling it at all. I don't "complain because it's fun", in fact I've liked literally every other cod I've played. I just hate a huge number of the design decisions in this one so far, and I'm not feeling it. Not saying it's a bad game, but it's definitely not what I expected or wanted.

Defend it all you want, just means the series will continue to get worse b/c faggots throw money at them.
Only good thing I got out of this new CoD was the great Frank Sinatra song from one of the commercials.

MW1 and WaW were both great, MW2 was decent, black ops was shit on pc (hai2u 3 months later and shit still isn't fixed + stealth bomber killstreak spam for the entire match resulting in unplayable shit because you're shaking more than an epileptic being triple penetrated by giant shemale cocks on a waterbed) and MW3 was pretty crap too (didn't even buy that one, just played my brothers a bit)
Ever notice that Call of Duty commercials look far more like a game of Battlefield than a game of Call of Duty?
Is there a level where you follow a guy for ten minutes? Those are the best.
Cranked has to be the most fun mode ever. Get a few kills and it's all a blur.
You guys might prefer BF4 over this (i have it as well, it's fun) but hopping into a game (quickly, as apposed to slowly in bf4) and racking up some kills is just too much fun.

I am loving BF4, but I find myself sticking to domination maps as I like the close quarters infantry combat.
Anyways, I was debating on getting Ghosts as my first actualy CoD purchase, because hey, if it focuses on infantry combat, maybe it's up my alley. I love unlocking/customizing shit too, etc, and I know CoD has a lot of that, and dog companions? look sick as hell. But now all you guys are saying CoD Ghosts multiplayer is garbage. So should I buy one of the previous games instead? I don't want to pay full price to limp along on the few servers of a mostly dead game, and I don't want a game with no unlocks to work towards.
I still plan on playing the shit out of BF4, and I'm sure Battlefront 3 is going to own my time too, but I am curious about the arcade-y run and gun that may be similar to my old CS days.
CoD games are closer to an arcade shooter in a realistic skin than a partial simulation like Battlefield. So if you like a bit faster gameplay like found in the Quake style multiplayer they can be a nice change of pace. I personally dislike CoD because it tries to be a little bit of both and I prefer quake stand alone or battlefield not the middleground CoD has always been built around.
Because we only stand for being owned and used for profit by our own. Rererolled.org
COD is definitely faster than BF, but I wouldn't say it's any closer to Quake.
I don't think you need to worry about it being a dead game though. The bros will automatically switch over en mass to whichever COD is the most recent.
You're right but only because of the realistic skin. Quake you get railguns - they never miss weapons only have bullet spread if its designed regardless of player movement. CoD is skinned with real weapons - so there is bullet spread and sight aiming and some movement penalty. But when you compare this to battlefield with suppression, and hip firing, and and all this other modeled shit that makes your weapons not fire where you're aimed. I think maybe that clarifies the comparison - CoD movement is closer to quake than it is to battlefield, there is slowdown in CoD for sight aiming which trends to weapon firing being more battlefield like but the modeling is much less punishing.

I absolutely agree that CoD can be played as the new quake/UT style arcade shooter. That's actually why I'm so let down by this installment. The map size, abundant cover, lack of players to fill the maps, and instagib weapons have kind of discouraged the fast paced gameplay I wanted out of it. It feels more like playing a battlefield game now. Even worse is what they did to the shotguns. They're so worthless now.
E: did they slow down run speed too? It just feels sooooo slow, and god help you if you don't have marathon on maps like Stonehenge, or it's "run-walk-run-walk-run-walk" for about 45 seconds to get to the first flag.
Last edited by Tol; 11-09-2013 at 03:26 AM.
What are you guys talking about. If someone was asking for an alternative to Quake, Call of Duty should never even enter your mind.
It's faster than Battlefield, that's pretty much all you can say.
PSn just gave me a 10 dollar coupon today for being loyal PSN customer.
Free upgrade for COD from ps3 to ps4!
Comparing this to quake or any old school shooter is a goddamn joke. Those games had lightning fast movement, a variety of situationally useful weapons to master, and maps with powerups and health packs that rewarded you for being able to run them backwards blindfolded using only sound queues. There was no minimap, you knew where your opponent was by the sounds he made. In quake a good player would go 50-0 against anyone not at their level. The skill gap was an ocean between continents.
COD is more like playing quake if everyone was confined to a wheelchair, and the starting machinegun fired railgun bullets at 1000rpm. The slow movement speed combined with the massive damage and barely existent recoil means it is virtually impossible to survive any engagement where the other person spotted you first, no matter if you are a FPS god and the other guy is a four year old paraplegic playing with a chin-stick. Not that this is much different than BF, but here the skill gap is even flatter because the guns are so much stronger and easier to handle and the maps are all a series of 8-way intersections. You will die so often to last place faggots squatting in a corner that you will be bleeding out of your eyeballs with rage by the end of any round for all the times you lost your kill streak to Timmy the camping retard.
Also, if you are playing on PC - and I have to assume you are because console FPS are for people whose only web browser is their phone - don't expect much in variety of game modes. Barely anyone plays this shit on PC. Like, at times when xbro was reporting 400k players I'd see 20k at best. In BLOPS2, the only game modes I ever got to work were team DM and sometimes kill confirmed and at ultimate peak hour maybe domination. The rest of the time it would search for games until the limit of my patience. (which, admittedly, isn't much longer than 15 minutes or so)
And don't even get me started on how fucking bullshit the entire idea of "lag compensation" is. I had to delete that rant from this post. Most people don't even understand what it is and mix it up with all kinds of other things like client side hit detection, or think it has anything at all to do with their own connection. It simply means if you shoot someone, the damage is delayed by THEIR ping to make things "fair" so they have time to react. So when you shoot someone with a 300ms ping from china you have to empty your entire clip into them before you see the result, making your 20ms ping feel like 2000. This bullshit should be capped at 100ms at most.

I disagree though, even in its current form, it's basically the closest thing to a populated arena/deathmatch style shooter we have today that I can think of. Sure, there are no health packs or power weapons (In most modes. I actually like hunted a lot: you start with just a pistol and pick up weapons scattered around the map. Of course all my joy is buzzkilled due to the fact that there are a mere 83 people in the list, playing right now.) but I can cruise around railgunning people with quickscope sniper rifle railgun headshots exactly like I was playing quake and get crazy 30+ kill streaks. Older MWs also had old school FFA/barebones classic, which featured weapons and perks as arena style pickups and boosted health (2x knife stabs to kill, for example). There's nothing like that in this newest iteration, I believe. Hunted is cool though. Counterstrike and BF4 don't even have FFA modes, and what else in the genre nowadays even has a populated FFA mode, much less adheres to all of the things that made quake/UT arena shooters?
The time to kill in this one on some of the guns is stupidly low, especially with stuff like the MSBS that everyone and their dog is using. I could *definitely* fight back and win gunfights even when fired on first in other installments. That really doesn't happen much in ghosts.
E: From the steam active user game list. Here's what the options for a populated shooter are.
CS 1.6 20k
CS: Source 17k
COD BO2: 7k
Arma 3: 6k
Cod Ghosts 5k
CoD MW3: 5k
CoD BO1: 1.5k
Everything else is pretty much under 1k players and dead/matching you with people from eastern europe. As far as for PC gamers who want a fast paced, populated FFA game, I don't think you have any options better than CoD, especially given it's roughly half the options on the list, with the other half being counterstrike variants.
Last edited by Tol; 11-09-2013 at 11:59 PM.
Have you ever heard of tribes? Its the only game on the market that comes close to quake. There is also the little indie game on my steam list bit I forget the name. Cod is nothing like those games.
No ones saying CoD is anywhere near as fast as games like UT or quake, just that it's pretty much one of the last populated FFA fragfest options. Lets not forget that Quake enemy territory was the last retail quake franchise game. And unreal 3 was the last we got from that franchise. Arena shooters died with a pathetic whimper and we're left with assorted BF4/CoD/CS modes to fill in the gap. Other than living in the past and sticking to nothing but quakeworld, there just really aren't many options for what I want.
I firmly feel like CoD is the closest thing there really is with any worthwhile population. I guess it helps that I thought railgun FFA mode was quake at its best.

Youre mentioning the oldschool pre millennium shooters with this low bob fragfest games for dlc ridden consoles even in the same sentence?
Can anyone confirm.. So people are complaining the maps are too big for the amount of players per map on console.. It is to my understanding the Next-gen version will have an increased players per map like the PC versions?? Is this correct? Also would it alleviate so of the problems the game is having with map size?
