According the Dana's interview with Ariel Helwani super fight isn't whats next GSP is requesting the Diaz fight. I assume that means its next for him period. GSP never seemed sold on the Silva fight and he shouldn't be he isn't lasting 25 minutes with Anderson and that size advantage on top of his striking skill.

GSP is such a pussy, totally dodging Silva. He should just admit he want to wait until Silva is washed up before taking the fight.

Just re-mentioning it here. Starting in January we'll be doing a new Sherdog MMA fantasy league. So if you are not in the current one(there's like 4 of us still filling out picks), shit's gonna get real in a couple weeks.

OR!!!!!!! Should we set it up starting with Dos Santos/Velasquez on December 29th? I don't know if they'll have us picking the Dream/OneFC/Glory NYE show or not. If so I'd kind of like to get it included in the real picks. Otherwise we're probably waiting for the Jan 12 SF card, if that even happens and goes up for picks. Or the Jan 19th UFC show.

What we thinks? Enough posters here want in that it'd be worth doing for UFC 155 on the 29th?

Yeah, I think the 29th card is a good place to start us out.

Money aside, would you want to fight Silva if you were GSP? Everyone with eyes and half a brains has to acknowledge what a miss-match it would be.

Jon Jones and Silva on the other hand... make this happen.

Yea, except that there's this fighter out there that keeps running his mouth. I think his name is Georges St Pierre, and every time he's interviewed he makes mention of his desire to one day be known as the greatest fighter ever. But this fucking guy, he doesn't even want to fight the real greatest fighter who is still currently in his prime. Even with that current GOAT saying he will fight at catchweight closer to this pussys natural fighting weight.

Really? GSP is running his mouth? You think he's an egomaniac? lol, come on man.

Over the past 10 years, and the ups and downs of his career, you would be hard pressed to find many people that would call GSP anything more than a humble (boring) champion. Sure, Dana pokes him in the ribs every once in awhile, puts a mic in his hands, and tells him to say something scathing like, "I am not impressed by your performance"... but seriously man, your attacking this argument from the wrong angle.

I don't give a shit about GSP anymore. He lost me in 2010, when he lost the ability to finish fights. For that reason alone... who cares if he ever fights Anderson or not.

Chael seems like a pretty cool dude when he's not channeling his pro wrestler shtick. I don't mind the pro wrestler thing either really...it just gets a bit tiresome when you hear his script more then once.

I've been slacking on picks and interest in MMA the past few months. I felt the UFC's have gotten stale with lackluster cards, but I'll try to re-up my game with the new year and try to make picks with you guys again. I was tarv in the group. I'll make picks for tonight to brush the rust off lol.

Sherdog. I'll post new group and password info in a couple weeks. We're starting fresh with UFC 155, Velasquez/Dos Santos, on the 29th.

    ================================================== =========

Watching Bellator from last night right now. Zoila Gurgel just got fucking steamrolled by Jessica Eye. Rocked her on the feet then choked her to sleep with a standing arm triangle. A wildly underused submission BTW. Seems like it would set you up for a lot of potential stuff without high risk.

Wow. Somehow I never knew the championship fighters had to make weight without the extra pound. Hope that doesn't fuck Diaz's cardio over for the fight.

BTW this entire season of TUF was a bore and half the fights were awful and went to decision that were just wrong. Terrible season.

But the last fight...whoooo boy. Awesome elbow.

If he keeps declining to fight the best he needs to stop talking about wanting to be the best. The best don't duck fights to keep favorable win-loss records. Just look at Mayweather.

Don't be retarded. Of course he wants to be the best, but he wants to do what is within his means. It isn't just that Anderson is an amazing fighter, but he is significantly larger than GSP. If they were closer in weight I doubt there would be any hesitation in taking it. Hell, if it were the other way around and Anderson was moving up in weight to fight him I am willing to bet there wouldn't be any hesitation from GSP. He is a smart fighter and he isn't going to jump into this without thinking it through. On top of all of that, he very badly wanted to fight Diaz the first time. So I don't see this as ducking as much as having some unfinished business.

Damn, I was hoping Siver would get rocked just to hear his corner scream at him.

It sounded like Hitler was giving a speech cageside while he was getting murdered by Cerrone.

I mean yeah Abel looked absolutely fantastic, but he might as well have been beating up a crash test dummy.

Card of the year is not disappointing so far. My head coach had to go to a play at the theatre tonight with his wife and family. He is one angry dude right now. Also.

No idea why some fighters don't go all in at the end when you've obviously lost without a KO.

No middle of the road tonight, everything is great or fucking awful.

Also, I think any ref who separates a clinch with 10 seconds left in the round should be fired on the spot.

God damn when did Joe Rogan gain 10 lbs of head fat? Dudes head is fucking humongous! Never in my life watched MMA - but its free tonight and no college football so I'm watching tonight for the first time ever. Pretty intelligent by the UFC guys to make this one free to entice new viewers like myself.

    Brown is on a roll.

BJ is getting demolished like Jones v Shogun.

Bleh, yet another guy hanging around past his prime. Feel bad for BJ. His record is already far worse than his talent would indicate.

He used to hold the belt at 170, clearly he is still capable of standing toe to toe with the new generation of 170 fighters!!!

Rory was HUGE next to BJ, that match really had no business happening. BJ has heart for days, but no drive/enthusiasm any more. I think he would have been much better vs Henderson, Maynard, Lauzon, hell even Edgar. He can't fight against super WW's, Hughes was NOT a big WW at all, nor is GSP. Sad to see that murder on tv, Rory showboating made it worse.

Or maybe he is just washed up? How about that?

Seriously, BJ has entertained his fans for years and I have a ton of respect for him but he is long in the tooth and its time he becomes a retiree.

Shogun looks on his way there himself.

Anderson Silva is 37. Randy Couture held the HW title at 45.

Well, this isn't going anything like I was expecting it too. Ben is dominating the striking, which should have been Diaz's strongest aspect. Diaz needs a finish, and I just don't see that happening.

Yeah, you'd think on a network with shit like Family Guy that they would've been ok with that. It's also weird when the round ends and it's instant commercial break.

Henderson is dominating the shit out of this match.

Yeah its because the corner guys swear like hell. I heard one 'fuck', made a joke about it in irc, and then after that they cut to commercial immediately after every round ended.

Really??? GSP is a huge WW. He walks around at 190+. AS walks around 220 max, but when he does it's fat. This fight is being talked about and always has been talked about as a catchweight lower than the 185lb middleweight that AS fights at. There is significant risk in AS cutting below 185. It is quite clear GSP is waiting for AS to lose a step before entertaining the idea of a fight with him.

And the other way around? AS has already stepped up to LHW on relatively short notice. This is why he is considered the best, and why all GSP can do is talk about one day wanting to be the best. Until he mans ups and takes fights he isn't the overwhelming favorite to win, he won't be in the running for GOAT.

Wouldn't the people that oversee networks in America have a complete freak out if a swear word got through?? Fox would probably incur a huge fine?

On other note, was a great card top to bottom. And like someone mentioned, it's always great to see one of the douchebag Diaz's get their ass handed to them. That's pretty much how I think GSP vs. Diaz will play out. And after it's done we can hear how GSP is just a great round winner but Nick Diaz is a better fighter.

That is a 30 pound difference you are talking about there. That is 2 full weight divisions.

I am fully aware that it will be at a catchweight, probably 180, but Anderson will still walk into the cage at least 10-15 pounds heavier. At least.

Please don't get me wrong in all this and defending GSP or that I think he is GOAT. I think Anderson is head and shoulders above him. In order for GSP to win that fight he would need every advantage available to him. So my point in stating if it was the other way around he would be more likely to take the fight still holds true. If GSP came in as the bigger fighter (naturally bigger) then he would stand a much better chance. However, going in against a fighter who I feel is already better than him, and who would have a significant size advantage, does not bode well for GSP. I think GSP is fully aware of this, and before he takes that step up in competition he would like to finish some things at 170 first. He has even said in interviews that if he did take the fight he would want to put on some serious mass and possibly make a permanent move. But to say he is ducking him is ignorant. I don't see how you can duck someone when it is a move UP in weight class to fight that person.

Overall great card tonight. My picks were pretty much shit and I went 3 fights in a row which I Boosted and lost. Good thing we didn't start a new pool on this event!

Just watched. Great event overall. Bendo looked amazing. Nate proved again the Diaz bros are fucking idiots who can't make adjustments. Siver is a monster at 145.

But I really want to talk about Matt Brown. I've been banging this drum for awhile now. Hated him on TUF, they made him look like a redneck Diaz brother on that show. As soon as he's off the show you see nothing but respect from him, comes off great. But that is all beside the point. The man deserves some kind of lifetime achievement bonus from the UFC for making every single fight he is in exciting. 4 years, 14 fights, 9-5 record in the UFC. And I can't think of one fight that wasn't entertaining as fuck. Gone to decision 3 times(2-1) and even those were exciting.

He's a midcard fighter, but he might be my favorite fighter in the sport right now. He forces people to engage like no one else, makes it impossible for the fights to be boring. I'd love for Ben Saunders to get back to the UFC and fight him. He's another guy that is all attack all the time.

edit: Now that I'm caught up

    What Fox hid last night.

And apparently Bendo fights with a toothpick in his mouth. Something he's done before. I have to imagine he'll get a talking to for this.

And for anyone curious about Scotty Jorgensen finally being totally white...

I sat next to Jens Pulver for this one. All of the fights were fun on this card. Rory is a strange dude and there was definitely a weird vibe in the audience when he entered.
