This game has me more excited than any upcoming game. It's the huge, epic world that people have been clamoring for.
What is Archeage ?
Archeage is a Free-To-Play MMORPG with an optional subscription which can be paid with ingame gold. The game is developed by XL Games. Archeage was released in Korea in January 2013 and is released in North America and Europe in September 2014. Trion Worlds (Rift, Defiance) is the NA/EU developer. The game features traditional tab / target combat gameplay with combos, quest hubs leveling, open world PvP, arenas, castle sieges, crafting, piracy, commerce, seamless map, fishing, uninstanced housing, farming, naval warfare, ship building and you can also compose music and create ugly characters.
I want to know more !

I want to play the goddamn game !
Archeage technology is server based, Patron (sub) players are being privilegied upon General (F2P) players. Also the game is anticipated, which means you're gonna have login queues. There are way to go around queues : idling on char select / char creation screen / AFK hitting dummy target ingame and macroing. Based on latest Trion communication, updates are underway, tho right now the safest way to play is either to abuse AFK Timer or get apps like Teamviewer to remote launch the game while you're busy at work, earning money to fix World's Finance mischiefs.
Leveling was awful, I'm all alone, what to do at 50 ?
Depends of what you want to do. Archeage is PvP based, there isn't endgame PvE (raids), it's a guild based MMO where more people would find pride doing open world PvP, tradepack ganking and castle sieging, interacting with community and fucking with people stuff. If you're going to take risks to move some merchandise, you'll find people out there looking to kill and rob you. Solo player experience in Archeage is limited, you'll either end up ganked and / or frustrated. You can stick to safe PvP zones but they're as exciting as playing minesweeper with no mines around.
I've heard this game is Pay-2-Win, stop being a corporate shill
Trion Worlds did some changes before game launch but it got reverted. Right now cash shop is all about cosmetic / convenience. There is no "Death Sword of Doom for only 49.99" stuff, also there's a system which allowed you to buy subcription with ingame gold. At this point cash shop is a clutch, no more no less.
I don't care about your wall of text, please TL;DR it !
Archeage MMORPG has a lot of stuff to do since NA/EU game version came up with latest content and changes. If you're willing to rush max level and sit in capitals to get gear, you're gonna have a bad time. Top crafting tiers require weeks / months of farming, with a chance to have your gear destroyed at some point. Getting stuff / money require active gameplay and risky commerce.
Bullet points :
- Guild based, faction based sub / F2P MMORPG with PvP incentive.
- Tab / target combat gameplay with combos and both active / passive game mechanics.
- Seamless open world PvP/ PK (own faction) with non-instanced housing and farming.
- Naval warfare (PvP, piracy, fishing and diving).
- Crafting and commerce are the game's legs.
- Playermade siege castles.
- Instanced PvP arenas.
- I don't know, you can also raise pets and RP chicks with asian-like emotes.
Note from Tuco on the Rerolled PVP Guild
With most MMO releases, this fine community creates a 'forum guild' for it that invariably fizzles out in a few months due to a lack of structure and recruitment. The serious players join serious guilds and the bored players move on. This is a travesty because these forums host the words of some of the most experienced and hardcore players in the world. In GW2 we changed that by signing up with a guild I've been a member of for almost a decade. PRX has a long history of being the dominant guild in every world PVP arena that's come out. We conquered the first keep in DAoC. We built the first city in the world in Shadowbane. We built the first keep and destroyed the first keep in Age of Conan. We were the first to control Altdorf in Warhammer. In GW2 we went 72-4 in WvW, with incredible contribution from this community.
This combination has been wildly successful as we've had over 200 members from Rerolled join our ranks, but there's still room for more. Those that have joined us have proven to be valuable assets to PRX and I'd love if everyone here who wants to fight wars stands at my shoulder. However, PRX is not for everyone. If you don't want to be in a professional environment, it's not for you. If you don't enjoy being part of a constant war effort, it's not for you. If you want to talk your shit on forums instead of ingame, PRX is not for you. But if you want to personally fight in the most epic and notable battles in ArcheAge, then PRX is where you want to go. We're gearing up for war in ArcheAge. We'll be claiming the seas, the trade routes and a castle in the north and taking on all comers.
If this sounds great and you want to really enjoy ArcheAge for all its worth, then you'll need to go through our recruitment process. Going through the application process is a little antiquated but it's critical that you get access to our forums to see our plans and it's also useful for us to get to know you. Read our Code of Conduct and if you agree to its terms follow this process to post an application. Note that you are from Rerolled and if your desired name in ArcheAge differs from your forum name, please post it. If I know you I will respond to it vouching for you. If I don't know you I'm unable to vouch for you and your success or failure will determine on the quality of your application, so be specific and verbose in why you are a good fit for PRX.
Also note that people from PRX, including me, are strictly forbidden from engaging in drama shit-talking on public forums like this one. There's going to be some very salty tears from some very sore losers over the next month, but we will only address them on September 12th. Generally the only public posts we make are recruitment posts like this one. If you have any questions about PRX, please PM Tuco.
Here are the group screenshots from the two games this community and PRX has joined forces in:
Sept 11th 2015 Edit:
PRX has ended our official presence in ArcheAge. Good luck to those still on Kyrios!
Sept 8th Edit:
Release is Friday! If you're like to join PRX please apply ASAP. We're shutting down recruitment on Wednesday so we can fully prepare for launch on Friday.
Sept 11th Edit:
Recruitment is closed until after release so we can properly prepare everyone for release and handle the release with our full focus. I'll be putting the server name into the thread title when I know what server we're on. If you'd like to play with us, join that server on the east faction and find us.
Sept 12th Edit:
We will be rolling on Kyrios! If you'd like to play with us or against us go ahead and roll on that server.
Sept 16th Edit:
Recruitment is now open! Minimum level is 30!
This game has me more excited than any upcoming game. It's the huge, epic world that people have been clamoring for.
I don't think this game even has a western publisher let a lone a testing or release date.
Probably for the best if the highlights are pruning bushes and manicuring your virtual farm. I like the sandbox elements but if the adventuring is just like WoW... argh.
They've actually shown a lot of different gameplay elements throughout the videos. Grinding yes, of course it's Korean, but also home building, siege warfare, boat building and sailing, supposedly an entire continent which will be up for pvp grabs. It's certainly an ambitious endeavor, and will certainly be buggy and imbalanced as shit. It's why I'm excited. Too bad we may not see this game here
It just looks so Asian that it will in no way make it here. See tera, people dodged that game without even trying it.
That video looked horrible, though.
I want this to be great. I'm worried with how combat looks though. The rest looks great depending on how grindy everything is. Its been a long time coming a game like this I hope they don't fuck it up.
I didnt think Tera was that bad, actually. Though, Archeage and its strong points definitely are'nt revolving around PVE from what Ive seen. The PVE looks rigid and stiff.
With the graphics already looking dated, 2014 would be way too late.
10 days or so old now but someone might not have seen it yet. Top one has some house building, what looks like a banquet feast type thing and summoning of a ship.
I just hope the 'adventuring' is as advanced as their crafting. I hate crafting, it's so inane and boring. But if they can do a good job of it and everything else, that would be great. Those character models are incredible too, they look almost like full motion video. I just hope it's a good game and not an elaborate and stunning looking boring ass WoW clone.
I'm pulling for this one. I just hope it can, IF it eventually gets released, recapture some of the world feel of Asheron's Call or even UO. The game sounds great.
Based on the videos I've seen; i disagree. Not that graphics make that much of a difference, it's always been about the game play, however, the difference between great graphics and amazing graphics means very little. The problem here is that the videos portray it as neither great or amazing.
But that is besides the point, the fact that development has been going on for so long, and that there still isn't even an American publisher shows that it is still a very long ways away, games (specifically mmos) live and die by forward momentum in attention and hype, being that this game is at the very least another 1-2 years out does not bode well with it ever seeing a full NA release. Another aspect that is odd is that most if not all videos about this game have been focusing on everything but combat / dungeons / pvp, which is telling in that it is no where near getting the attention as other parts of the game. If I wanted to play a farming simulator game I would do so, I would not want one set in the medieval world where you get pseudo steam powered vehicles that honk (wtf was that, total turn off).
I very much so would love to see a full sand box game, but one that has a little more direction and one that is a bit more focused in thematic value. I don't want some mishmash of all this shit with cat people and farming equipment. But hey, who am I to judge? If you don't mind a mishmash of Japanese culture with cat people and farming equipment with a dance studio complete with a disco ball then by all means, look forward to this game.

This game is a 3D Ultima Online, or the game UO2 could've been. But since you're all either sucking WoW's dick, or drinking the sour, left-over milk spilling from EQ's shriveld tits; you're too damn stupid to see it and complain about cat people (because that's clearly the only playable race in the game), asian culture (whatever that means) and graphics. Fuck.
I just want a decent mmo to play, please don't be bad and get released in the west.
How do you guys think this will hold up against Darkfall Unholy War or is there even any direct comparison to be made?
this game will be guild wars 2 with farming
DF UW won't fail. They have a audience of crazy people to fuel that game.
Just got done looking at a bunch of stuff for this and... huh; I'd be completely psyched about this game, if it wasn't a Korean MMO. Nevertheless, it looks worth keeping an eye on, and hopefully some western developers are taking notes.
This game looks great graphically. Not any better looking ones out now so by 2014, it'll look just fine. They are doing a lot of things right. They need to get a US beta going ASAP though. Before interest wanes further. They need a 2013 release IMO.
He still could. Just put a section on here that's dedicated to the game and copy paste a bunch of screenshots and shit from the web and bingo, fansite.
According to MMOSITE you no longer need a KSSN to sign up for the Korean Open Beta - so if you can navigate the site in Korean (don't try it now - currently user registration is getting slammed by Koreans) you might be able to sign up and play. Of course you'll have to navigate the Korean quest text - but who really reads quest text anyway?
God this game looks amazing. For all the shit talking Korean mmo's get here, it's pretty funny that it looks like in the end a Korean game will be the next best mmo out there. I really like the graphics personally, though some spell effects I saw could be better fleshed out.
And the fact that it has pvp means I can make a char named Obama bin Laden and camp tad10's corpse all night long.
And I can make a warship called the USS Obama and sink his dumbass prayer boats

I won't make a fansite for a game not in the western market. I don't speak Korean.
Well get on that Draeg.
Weren't people saying the graphics looked dated and shitty? They look pretty impressive to me, especially the water.
Ship raids on giant sea monsters? Giant forces of players hang gliding into a city to seige it from a cliff top? I'm in.
I'm just picturing sitting in my corn field harvesting some food for my BBW in game wife and seeing a shit ton of people on gliders gunning for my beloved homeland. Sound the alarm! We're under attack!!!
This is the first MMO I've been interested in for a while now. Hope it gets released here.
hackers will enjoy this game. automated farming should give them that edge needed to excel.
READ ABOUT THE FUCKING GAME FIRST YOU STUPID RETARD. They have randomized events so your automated crafting bots will be about as successful as a Vanguard crafting bot. Whether it has hackers though is anyone's guess.
SURE BUDDY, IF YOU SAY SO.
I'm only saying what the beta testers say. For a start, crafting requires that you spend Labor Points and you only get a limited amount of those per day, so you can't just go AFK and let your macro craft endless amounts of shit. The points are so valuable that crafters will sell their time to the highest bidder. And secondly, the locations of harvesting resources are random, so one time it might be gems and then it might come back as a tree. And when you do harvest stuff, mishaps happen and you have to react to the mishap.
I'm sure it wont be perfect but at least get a clue about what might be good and what might not.

Bro, if you said what you said I would be reasonable and say, "okeh you are right" but since you said "this is not 2001" you obviously took that leap, i responded with equally reasonable response, and now you did this to yourself. This is not 2001.
You are a stupid sick fucking moron.
Eh, we'll see all speculation and BS for now.
Just got a shared account of this tonight. Thanks to Danyeo~ Now to bumble around in korean menus..
Fucking christ, 40gig install + 10gig patch, wtf.

Wow that is big. I'd be keen to play it too but not with Korean UI :S
My korean is horrible so if any of you guys stumble on a quick menu translation patch or anything of the sort, let me know.

bro, ask danyeo to give me some.
Cant make any characters or delete the one danyeo made until Jan 2nd. I guess thats when OBT officially opens, when it happens I'll take a few pics of the character customization and anything interesting I find. The races seemed to be human, elf, catman and Chinese laborer.
Gonna fire this up tonight now that its open beta. Anything people want me to look for? Its all in korean so be advised I cant help you on fine details.
I think the biggest question in the game right now is combat.
Game has some interesting things though. I got a mount at level 5, and it doesn't despawn as soon as you dismount. It will follow you around like a pet and you can mount it again, also other PC can ride on the mount and follow you around or go for a ride with you. It looks like there are "aggresive" and "defensive" commands for the mount so they might go into combat later on, but I don't think I was high enough level to access those. I did have a mount sprint skill and there is a mounted archery skill which I don't have access to yet. The mount can also take damage so it looks like they're planning to have some mounted combat at higher levels.
Not sure if there are talents in the game, but along with your main class, you can pick two subclasses, one at level 5 and other at 10. It looks like there are no restrictions on which classes you can take. For example, my main was a warrior, and I chose a bard as my first subclass. This is similar to the subjobs in FFXI, but you can take any skills from whatever class you have. Your subclass isn't gimped in anyway as far as I can tell. You can also reset your skills and your two subclasses for money, but the resets seem pretty expensive. Armor and weapons don't seem to be restricted in anyway so far as well.
Each race has its own starting area and the world seems pretty large. Probably the reason for the mount at such an early level. Questing is the same old fetch/kill. However, for the kill quests, you don't have to complete all the kills to finish the quest. You can just kill a couple and just turn in. You will get the quest reward item if there is one, but the money/xp will be scaled to how much of the quest you completed.
I haven't experienced the open pvp or world building stuff yet, but so far it just seems like another wow clone with a couple new ideas thrown in. I'll probably just grind it out to check out more of the class system.
I really enjoyed Tera's combat. Hopefully we see more games use it.
I'll settle for the tab / attack stuff if the rest of the game is up to par. Mostly open ended world building / resource controlling options for guilds and PvP as a resolution to any issues. Especially if there is some looting options.
How is responsiveness in combat? Compared to say WoW or LOTR?
Thanks for the info.
Didnt have alot of time to spend with it last night. Nabi already highlighted anything I'd have to share with my limited time.
Client runs like shit though. But thats to be expected with the engine they are using.
Meh, looks like every modern MMO. Rush through instanced dungeon, spam low HP trash mobs to death in 5 seconds. A few good boss fights but they are just scripted and only fun the first one or two times. Just like WoW, and Rift, and GW2, and TSW, and SWTOR, and AoC, etc..etc...etc.....
I've started a new thread, to better express the problems about ArcheAge being the most racist game I have yet to play.
Others may already be providing assistance, but I am fluent in Korean and more than happy to translate menus, skill/item tooltips (clarification on the functionality of a mechanic, to the extent I am able since I am still learning them), etc.
The questing is fun, in a disposable sort of way. The dungeons are fun, in a disposable sort of way. But neither are fun enough to do over and over and over, and there is nothing else to do besides that. You either run around questing for cash/xp, or you rush through dungeon after dungeon for loot. And then after the novelty wears off a week later, you wonder why you even bother.
ArcheAge Monthly Rumored Prices
3 Hours : 3000 won = 3.00$
30 hours : 9900 won = 9.00$
30 days : 19800 won = 19.00$
90 days: 47600 won = 44.00

I'm toying with the idea of launching an AA junkies site since I've heard there will be a NA publisher announced soon. Is anyone here interested in running it? Compensation will be tied to the success of the site.
These prices mean nothing for the west, it is not unusual for asian games to be priced by hours or small time contingents. So we're going to end up with the standard sub price, which is a bit annoying after GW2 and TSW (which i would have never picked up if there still were a sub past the first 30 days).
makes sense. Lets say you are a school kid who doesn't have enough money to pay for a monthly basis or a gaming computer. Just go to a PC bang for 3 hours, pay for that amount of subscription, and play for 3 hours until your time is up. The same can't be done in the West.
So they are porting this over to English right? Are the dungeons open world or instanced? Been watching some videos and it looks pretty good.
There is definitely instanced content. I can't really answer if there are open world dungeons in addition to that or not though.
Is there an ETA on the conversion and does anyone know if it sucks or not?
There isn't an NA publisher yet just rumors that an announcement might be coming soon. So, a while. Someone up above said the client runs like balls which is kind of disappointing to hear. Other than that it's just been a bunch of talk about some worthwhile mechanics they're using that make it sound really promising. As to if they actually deliver or not I'm not sure anyone can answer. More of that to come out as the Korean beta continues I'm sure.
Well balls, here's hoping we get some juicy info on this or EQNext soon.
I said it before, but the client runs like shit. Its the cryengine 3. So that should tell you what to expect performance-wise.
Really, dont get your hopes up for this game. This game should be approached with alot more caution than what some have shown in this thread.
I just watched some dungeon vids and the combat looked nice, I should learn to not get my hopes up.
It's taking too long.
Good to finally see this game gathering some well deserved interest. Been following AA a few years now and can't wait to see which western publisher is chosen.
i've been following this game for a while now and i keep hearing people calling it the "next UO" but i`m still pretty vague on the rule set. so is it like ffa pvp with loot drops?
Pre Order info for next weeks launch.
Things are moving fast for ArcheAge in Korea as the title barrels down the final stretch to launch. The title is currently wrapping up open beta testing in the region and recently revealed that it will be releasing on January 15th there with a subscription model. Now we have a glimpse as to what XLGAMES is preparing in terms of pre-order options thanks to the official Korean website.
While the translation is never perfect, it looks as if the various pre-order packages include game time (including bonus days), commemorative coins, items, buffs, and even a "sky boat." There's a limited amount of time to take the studio up on this offer, so if you're in the region and interested, definitely give it a look sooner rather than later.
