man, fuck EG, they just killed any hope of Jaedong getting as awesome as he was in BW (even though he probably couldn't because this game sucks).
May as well kick this off.
EG signs Jaedong.

So, yeah, when is the next time we are moving ?
The fuck did i just watch with some asian dude and a blonde retard jumping on stage.
In a purple outfit to top it all. Couldnt even shut down the damn screen.
Haha no shit. I got a quick print screen off. Theyve even got a fucking dog randomly running around.
I stopped watching after Taeja vs Hero, which was rather silly series, but the NASL crew deserves props for absolutely brilliant segments to fill in time.
WoW arena matches would have been better.
Cant beleive i said that.
That hots showmatch, not sure if serious. I just dont understand what am seeing. 2 players running their blob of units all over the map for the sake of running all over the map.

It's a showmatch of beta, which had giant patch deployed this week, don't take it too seriously. Toss air looks ridiculous though.
Oh look another patch zerg going far in a tournament ZZzzzzZZ
That game just showed the amount of work and luck required by polt to lvl the playing field. Sniping the pool / lair / spire and still won by the skin of his teeth. Random foreign zerg giving code s player a run for his money /eyesroll

Thats because Zerg is fucking retarded still. I would almost guarantee Polt has put in 3x more hours into SC2 than SortOf and he still has to rely on SortOf completely fucking up and forgetting he has a main base to win. Getting old seeing a new random EU/NA Zerg getting far into the tournament beating people who actually put time into the game.
Still on the fence if I'm going to continue to pay $150 for another year of GSL. I did drop the $5 for a year of Kespa pro league. The week one pro league matches were interesting if anything with new Kespa maps and some players with skills reminiscent of the three open seasons of the 2010 GSL.
Going to wait for hots. I don't really care for wol at the moment.
NASL S5 should be rather interesting, but I can't really justify spending anything on watching starcraft since it's strictly "oh, a tournament is on? I'll have it open in a tab while doing something else". Even with that I'm feeling pretty burnt out on tournament watching ATM and that's coming from somebody who woke up at 4am a year ago to watch Hero lose to Puma in NASL S2 finals. HotS seems to look promising, even though the balance seems to be all over the place and probably won't be fixed until few months after release.
They threw a bunch of shit against the wall lately without any real balancing beforehand. If anyone saw the change log and thought they'd get a completely balanced game they're fooling themselves. I will say, however, HOTS is way more fun to play at the moment than WoL. I just wish I had some standard BOs instead of just winging it every time.
Throwing balance out the window, then turning around and flinging shit at the wall is exactly how to add some fun into an expansion. Especially when it's Blizzard and they can (and do) take their sweet time with everything, there's no reason not to toss out some preconceptions and see if you can make something innovative. It just would've been nice to have them start with much more drastic ideas before they even released a beta.
I think they quickly learned from the tepid response the community was giving to HOTS that they had to do something drastic. I played HOTS before the patch and it simply felt like the exact same game. Perhaps because I was playing on the Terran side where literally the only change was widow mines (which such against anyone who is an active detector) so it felt very meh.
Hopefully the same wake up call is applied to any upcoming d3 expension.
SortOf has been a good player for a long time. Not on Polt's level, but he is no scrub.
I am not going to defend Zerg though. The more I play as zerg, the more I realise how forgiving it is (compared to protoss).
I'm normally not that much into dissing pros because of their race, but I want to see SortOf perform for a bit longer before I have some opinion about him. I have seen a few guys who looked promising but usually faded into obscurity later, like Feast
So why is the sc2 thread stashed away in this competitive gaming forum? How come it isn't in the main Other Games thread. wtf bros, who is going to see this here? Oh wells :P
This is the SC2 Competitive Gaming thread, there's a regular thread for SC2: http://www.rerolled.org/showthread.php?400-Starcraft-2
I'd love to make different threads for major events and so on, but as it is, this thread isn't really moving anyway and I get the sense that most people are spending as little time watching sc2 as possible after the past few weeks.
Sure, haven't been posting because FoH/Rerolled & waited to see how it would pan out, but now that's settled, can we get a sub forum for the main page for SC2? 1 thread in a sub sub forum ain't gonna cut it!
I also wanted a more dedicated thread to sc2 but, like others pointed out, wings of liberty is played out atm. The game is in a sad state and unless magic happens with hots, well be treated with the same bs blizz is serving us since early 2011.
HotS, at least in the current state, is way more fun to watch and play than WoL. Right now the optimal ZvT composition seems to be Roach/Hydra/Viper then into Ultra/Hydra/Ling. The Terran side hasn't changed too much but the emergency boost on the dropship makes drops way more interesting and fun. They need to rework the Thor's anti-air to be worth it. Right now there isn't a huge reason to use the global anti-air over just javalin.
Sadly nothing has really changed in TvP. Outside of there is a minor reason to keep your factory around and build another reactor so you can put some mines here and there or mix in some hellbats with your bio force. But it seems the way to go in TvP hasn't changed too much. It is still big bio against collosus/HT switches. The only good thing is upgrading your ship weapons for Vikings also helps your hellbats so they can transition a bit into the lategame to help with huge masses of zealots.
I still hope they add a terran unit, but it seems rather unlikely.
If you guys weren't watching NASL when it was on, and didn't see the FFA they did on HoTS, I suggest you watch it. Pretty fucking hilarious. Once the game starts it's pretty awesome, then it dulls out for a bit when there are only 4 players left because they pretty much dick around and turtle til about the 50 minute mark. Still fun to watch because it shows off some of the units (tempests, speed medivacs, oracles, etc etc) and dat Demuslim backrub into Hyun backrub was probably the most hilarious thing I've ever watched in sc2 lol. Hyun is just amazing.
(fuck if I know if you can embed youtube videos on this site so here's the link)
Apparently you can't. Still, it was awesome, especially the ending with Demuslim rushing in as the last one and crushing everything.
Where can you get the subscription for kespa proleague?
Scarlett the Patch zerg extraordinaire showing why he's a patch zerg here in the Iron Squid hots tourney.
HOTS TOURNEY? BETTER MASS INFESTORS!
Fungal fungal fungal fungal gg no skill.
Game 2, fungal fungal fungal fungal, owns mech, owns bio, owns everything in the game. This game sucks, probably the last match I'll watch until infestors are removed.

Anyone caught today's proleague ? EG-TL vs CJ was actually pretty good, shame they couldn't close it in the ace, but when that shit is played on Ohana you really can't send out a zerg. Both Thorzain and Huk failed rather horribly though, seems like Arcanoid will be the zerg map and Huk once again playing like a retard. He went blink vs robo and then blinked into 2 immortals up the ramp. If he just sat down there and gotten robo/expanded, he would be in a fine position, but instead he rushed in like an idiot. Game was sort of over after that.
I like that Kespa have added new maps, and I dont expect all maps to be equal, but Arcanoid is terrible. Regarding the ganes:
The Hero game, well, basically any toss opening has a hole the zerg can exploit to get rather far ahead, especially if you want to do a timing every probe not mining means your push is delayed by a few seconds and it adds up. This is the second time I have seen this slow ling cheese in a progame, it's crazy gamble because you need the toss to not wall, to go harass with his first few units and to not see any additional lings anywhere on the map, which is coincidentally what a many tosses have been doing recently. If he caught wind of this, he plugs the wall and stays at home with his units, maybe even gets a second cannon and the zerg looks like an idiot.
I think the zealot is key. if you make a zealot while your core is building, you can use it to plug the hole and still use your first 2 stalkers on the map. That's fine for me, as my 2 base timings are not at all crisp. For a pro player that zealot is going to slow down your push, but I would at least make it if you are going for a 3rd base.
I have seen these slow ling attacks kill Hero before when he makes a zealot but then sends it out on the map. It just seems pointless to me. It is not worth the risk for a few ling kills.
I've been watching some of the Blizzard Cup, at least some of the earlier games anyway (They actually started at 11pm EST my time, so I'd always stay up for an hour or two and watch the first couple series). But unfortunately now we're just stuck with 5 zergs and 1 protoss in the top 6. siiiiiiiiiiighhhh, can parting all-in his way to the championship or are we going to be stuck with a top 4 Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Maps really are a problem though, everything is just way too easy for zerg, maybe sc2 should be like BW and start making maps that are shitty for zerg just so other races have a chance.
Or just make fucking BETTER maps. These massively large maps are causing the downfall of the game honestly. I should make a couple small/med maps and see how they go.
I've been watching a lot of proleague and while the maps they use are all over the place, this would never work in a solo league. You can work around even the most ridiculous maps in teamleague, but every imbalance shows in a starleague. But it certainly makes for refreshing games, especially compared to the zergfest of blizz cup.
Also, Liquid Sea retired, which was rather surprising and makes Liquid look a bit silly.
This guys is amazing to watch. incredible macro during engagements, constantly dropping changelings the entire game, inject cycles take a fraction of a second. fucking nerdgasm.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.
HSC is going on. It is always a fun time if you like entertaining downtime and mediocre SC2.
Round 2 of Proleague will be all kill format. I hope they change the map pool for that. I do not think these pro league maps are suited to any other format.
Not likely, at least not a whole map pool if BW set the precedent. Because it's probably the only way we are going to see toss on Arkanoid
What makes Arkanoid so bad for Toss?
Lol MMA with the biggest BM I've seen in a while. Just 12/14 raped MoMan and instead of killing his nat hatch just walked away with 10 hp left on the hatch. Then went to kill him like 8 minutes later.
[MoMan goes to shake MMA's hand] "MoMan so manner despite getting raped"
Feels like you could meta the fuck out of the map by going 4gate robo and warping in with a prism
Though I assume the stronger build would be nexus first into 6gate + prism
Nexus first is not possible unless you want to long distance mine from that nexus (terran can fly the orbital into position after marines have cleared up the creep). Terran and zerg can both scout for 4 gate warp prism using overlord or reaper, although they might need 2 reapers to scout well, and that is a lot of production time that is not actually helping defend the 4 gate. I think the go to build for toss on arkanoid would be stargate into expand.
I just noticed that woongjin have put out a protoss (free) on Arcanoid this week. He will play vs Zenio.

I thought at least one of the bases could be taken off the bat, my bad, that makes the map even worse for toss though unless you do the 4gate WP cheese. But I suppose that's the beauty of it, I want to see what Free came up with to be played on that map.
If anything the PL maps make it so you can't play standard on any of them. Which is refreshing for sure. I like how balance takes a backseat for making the matches actually enjoyable to watch.
Any chance any of you have an extra HotS beta key or an idea where to get one ?
Ahh just another normal day in the life of WoL!
I never said it before, but sc2 sucks. Im going to skip HOTS, then wait two more years and get the last expansion and the second expansion with a discount. At this point, WOL is just broken if they nerf the infestor, then P>Z if they don't then Z>*
Delete the infestor ffs. Let PvZ be outta whack, throw the balance of every match up agaisnt zerg out of the window. Truth is, any catastrophic result CANT be worse than the current game state. For most players, including me, it wont change squat on rankings. Ill always be a platinum allstar. The problem isnt that i cant rank up, its that the pro matches and tournements are just so fuckin boooooooring to watch now days. Watching Scarlet camp on his ass till brood / infestors then A move, like every other damn zerg, is mind blowingly boring. Hearing casters yell SICK FUNGALS actually make me sick in the stomach now.
They also went overboard with maps. Theres a middle ground between season 1 maps and the current ones where a zerg can take 3 -4 bases hardly unchallenged.
SC2 is very meh atm.
Trade the infestor for scourge IMO. Would make the pointless corrupter more pointless, but it would basically makes going colossus on the P side very risky which means zerg can go hydra. Also can trade with vikings to protect a BL army vs Terran but at least gives them a shot to micro in with marines.
Zerg can't beat mass blink stalker at all without the infestor. Sadly, the infestor is barely strong enough right now to prevent ZvZ from being mutalisks only. They just recently had to buff infestors again in the beta exactly because of this, ZvZ was nothing but mass mutalisks, nothing else was viable.Trade the infestor for scourge IMO. ehh speedling roach handles blink stalker fairly well.
Although it does really depend on the map and where/how big the choke points are.

I don't mean, like, a 7 gate allin. I mean 200/200 pure blink stalker. Zerg can do nothing about it without fungal root as zerglings are not effective and nothing else can touch them. Fungal root was added very early in WoL, before fungal did damage, specifically to address the fact that blink stalkers just killed Zerg.

I was thinking that maybe adding a 0.5s (maybe less) Global Cooldown on the powerful AE spells (Fungal, Storm, EMP?) could be helpful.
I agree on the state of SC2, it's not super fun to watch right now, all matches look the same, and early/mid-game defensive play is very strong and boring. What worries me a lot more is that the new units in HOTS are not that fun, only things I like is Protoss having Recall very early, and Zerg having the flying unit that can pull another unit. The rest are pretty much all harass units that are going to make the game very frustrating for casual players.

Roach hydra would easily beat pure stalker. If you take out infestors then sentries would be the problem, not stalkers. Pure stalker barely beats pure roach.
Hydras are not a viable unit to make in 99% of ZvP matches. Once a colossus hits the field they're just wasted resources. The only time hydras are actually decent is in a 200/200 ZvZ where they're better for their supply than roaches. Other than that, Blizzard completely shit on hydras from day 1.
And blink stalkers still shit all over roach/hydra since hydras are so immobile.
Stalkers are the least cost effective unit in straight up fights against almost everything. I think I read somewhere workers beat Stalkers cost effectively.
And blink stalkers are probably the most cost effective other than colossi.
I'm excited to see what new maps GSL will bring out, especially since Kespa introduced a lot of new maps I'm hoping GSL brings out 2 or 3 new ones. I swear if we get another 5 GSLs with Antiga Shipyard I'm going to kill someone.
Team Liquid awards for 2012, very well written: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/view...opic_id=391219
http://fxoboss.tumblr.com/post/39525...-at-korea-2013 where he makes the prediction that there will be only like 4 ESF teams by the end of 2013 and a few hours later: TSL Disbands
Damn look how good I am. Making maps & getting on blizzards website. I'm such a boss.
Talking to Disp about the map pools and he had this to say:
"Disp: you're obviously the most popular sc2 player on RR and IRL so it makes sense why they listen to you."
Pretty much agree with him.

I think ESV will be back closer to HotS, I know they are still creating new maps just since nobody is picking anything up they haven't been giving a shit recently.
Just played a Zerg who was top 50 GM last season of HOTS and lost, pretty handedly, but not as badly as I would think. Still need to work on a few kinks in my play. For some reason I stop SCV production at like 55 every game and I need to realistically make 10-12 more. I also fucked my build up so my upgrades were way late. 2-1 bio/0-0 tanks vs 3-3 Ultra/Ling isn't a good thing -_-
I feel like he may make the wild card. If I had to pick the auto placers I'd say First and Symbol. But even making the wild card I feel is a long shot.
Three korean zergs make toss life hard. With the long break over the Christmas, it makes these groups pain to predict, because if somebody was grinding 50 games a day, they can suddenly own their their group out of nowhere. Grubby has been practicing at the FXO house for like a week or so, so maybe he can also surprise and he is one of the few people who somehow always step their game up when it matters, not like others who usually start throwing games away when they get ahead in important matches vs koreans.
Yeah, I'm hoping Grubby gets into Code S. The guy is just so much fun to watch and his passion for the game makes it even more enjoyable. I don't think he stands that great of a chance unless he brings 110%. DRG, Symbol, Bbyong & First all could easily compete for top 3. Losira use to be so great but I haven't seen him play, or heard about him at all for that matter since his loss to NesTea, but I suppose you can never really count him out either. I hope Grubby doesn't bottom out of the group at the very least.
If I had to bet I'd say: 1st - Symbol, 2nd - Bbyong, 3rd - First, with DRG, Losira & Grubby not qualifying.
Grubby in GSL at same time as EGTL play proleague, and I dont have good enough internet to run two streams at the same time
Looks like Grubby got raped
KR meta is so different than EU/NA they're almost playing a different game. Anyone who thought Grubby would advance to Code S was just blind fanboying.
Stupid me thinking a Zerg wouldn't advance.
