I missed the Spurs game because of the shitstorm that happened today.
Might as well I did. Not that interested in the Europa league anyway
Thread is old and busted, see the new hotness over hurr.
Here we go again. Pool won today in a must win game - looked decent doing it as well.
Arsenal still stink but look to sign 53 year old Thierry Henry on loan this month. Why the fuck am I not surprised. Good news is, Ramsey is still starting. What a relief.

OP needs more Nottingham Forest content tbh.
Currently languishing in 10th place on 29 points, 7 clubs are on 28/29 so it's hella tight in the middle of the pack. Lost the last two games including a pretty torrid display (or is it a torres display now?) against Hull at the weekend. Still, the club is in new owners hands with petrodollars or whatever behind them and they had faith to try a relatively young manager instead of going for an old past-it name. Wouldn't have minded Redknapp though

Henry's just milking Wenger for every cent he can get from the old man.
All German clubs advance to the next round, I can't decide what to watch...
crossing fingers for borussia dortmund. i've been a fan of them for decades.

This current dortmund core is awesome.
They are which is why they need to sell Reus, Gotze and Lewandowski to LFC ASAP
They are definitely a fun team to watch. I remember two seasons ago all the talk was of Gotze - now they have several other guys who could slot into most of the teams in Europe. Guess Kagawa wasn't that big a loss.
Celtic made it through to last 16 despite being utter fucking pish but at least we'll get a few £££ for our total annihilation in the next round
Gotze is still probably the most talented one though Reus is a close 2nd. Both can play on the wings or behind the striker with Reus actually able to play as a striker as well. If you believe the FM2013 rankings then their u21 team is even more stacked with some of them playing in that last CL game vs. ManC.
Reus has that arrogant, killer-instinct attitude that Ronaldo has as well; good thing to have for a goal scorer.
Lotta propaganda coming from the Arsenal side about "being a different team" and "turnings things around" today vs WBA. That should equate to a 1-1 draw, amite?
Arsenal looked significantly better in attack today than they have for about 6 weeks now. Wilshere in particular was excellent. Cazorla - stay on your fucking feet son... aside from that horrific dive, he was very good as well. No Aaron Ramsey - but the team looked really fluid going forward. Coincidence? That mother fucker is the best defensive midfielder other teams have ever had. Poldi blew a great chance to make it 3 as well, but I'll cut him some slack.
All in all, still a long way to go - but I had almost forgotten how gratifying it is to win.
If it was Suarez that did that the internet would be ablaze, instead it's just another player diving and looking stupid
Good win for the real Mighty Reds today, Burnley were put to the sword bouncing Forest up to just a point off the playoff places.
Manchester derby tomorrow, talk about a game where you can't decide who you want to lose the most!
HT: City 0-2 Utd
Deluded city fans:
Shame they've given up that lead now. Making for an exciting end at least.
Holy fucking shit!
ROBIN FUCKING VAN PERSIE!!!!
Hell of a way to end that nice one by RvP!!!
Great game - excellent advert for the BPL... but fuck RVP!
Was there any word on Rio? US coverage basically stopped after the injury
Rio Ferdinand struck by object thrown from crowd in Manchester derby
Ferdinand was seen wiping blood from his face following the incident which took place in the aftermath of United's injury-time winning goal in their 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium.
After Ferdinand was struck by the missile, a Manchester City fan ran on to the pitch in the England defender's direction. He slipped and fell to the ground as he approached the player up to 10 yards away and was then obstructed by City's keeper Joe Hart, who pushed him away. The supporter was then led away from the pitch. The incident was not shown to viewers by the Sky Sports cameras.
A message on Ferdinand's official Twitter account posted at 4.34pm read: "what a result, 3points! Sweet! Whoever threw that coin, what a shot! Can't believe it was a copper 2p....could have at least been a 1 coin!"
When Ferdinand left the pitch at the end of the match he was seen to have an object in his hand which he showed to referee Martin Atkinson before he threw it to the ground.
Praising the football, the United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, told Sky Sports: "It's just unfortunate towards the end a City fan runs on and then they throw coins at our players and that. I don't think you need that. The same thing happened at Chelsea which was masked really by all the other things that happened."
"But, you know, two fantastic teams today I think, and a fantastic game of football, and it could do without that."
The match-winner, Robin van Persie, was unaware Ferdinand had been injured as he was interviewed after the match. The Dutchman said: "I missed the thing with Rio so I will have to look back at it but that should not really happen on a football pitch."
Thanks. Just bullshit going after Ferdinand that way.
Glad he found some humor in it.
Nasri is a fucking little dweeb - was hilarious watching highlights and seeing the broadcaster highlight what a pussy he is.
Out of the blue comeback for LFC, really didn't think they had it in them without Suarez being on the pitch but then J. Cole comes out like a mofo. LOL, still amazed...
In other news:
Lionel Messi of Barcelona sets new goal-scoring record
Fucking ridiculous.Barcelona's Lionel Messi has set the record for most goals in a calendar year by scoring his 86th goal of 2012.
The 25-year-old Argentine overhauled Gerd Mueller's tally of 85 - set in 1972 - to set a new benchmark which includes goals for club and country.
Messi set the new record with two goals in a 2-1 win over Real Betis on Sunday.
He fired in an angled shot after 16 minutes to equal the German's record before adding a second with a low drive in the 25th minute to set the new mark.
Messi's path to the record has included 74 goals for Barcelona and 12 for Argentina in 66 games.
He still has two league matches and one King's Cup tie to add to his tally before the end of the year.
He himself has scored more goals than most teams scored in a year.
I'm sure some people will bring up how he hasn't won a World Cup or Andy Gray will mumble something about playing at the Brittania in the rain on a Wednesday but what can't the guy do? A lot of what I think makes him unique in the eyes of fans is how he looks just like your average joe, actually not even as he's pretty short. Until you see Messi with the ball at his feet you almost think it could be you out there kicking the ball around the Nou Camp.
The city manu game was intense as hell. I laughed out loud when Ferdinand went from celebrating, to clasping his head with a WTF look after be got hit. Fucked up, but hilarious as they showed it on TV as it was live.
The game itself was good, especially the 2nd half. It's a nice change from the Arsenal games I mostly watch. It's nice to see teams attack and run at a good pace as opposed to my Gunner's gay finesse and pussy-footing Wegner tactics. I can barely watch the EPL because of how shitty and boring Arsenal's games are. Taken to watching QPR and other teams instead.

Arsenal... ha ha... gonna lose to a L2 team. Ramsey and Gervinho looking awesome as usual.
Remember what I wrote on the Morenetz.org soccer thread about Arsenal having a great chance of winning the League Cup?
Welp better start posting here now FoH is down, was waiting for the dust to settle. Go United!
There was only one Utd fan back on the old board..
I thought Mr Wenger was making a serious push for the LC as well this year but perhaps not. At the moment even winning the crappy League Cup would have been something.
The January sales are the last chance to turn it around for Arseguard.
I feel sorry for whoever follows Wenger into Highbury, the unrealistic expectations will be through the roof. At least RedFace (if he hasn't done a Bernie Ecclestone and made a deal with the devil to live for a thousand years) will be leaving a club still at or near the top of the heap and even the fucking Glazers seem to be on the eventual path to paying their debts off. Mourinho will be dancing in the streets to inherit that lot.
Canning Wenger would be the most idiotic thing the club could possibly do. Questions have to be asked of Silent Stan and Gazidis though, certainly. I was super busy today so I only followed the BBC ticker, but it sounds like Gervinho and Chamakh were especially bad. It also sounds like we didn't piss it away, but were simply out played. Arsenal are in a world of hurt at the moment, and the players themselves simply look like they don't give a fuck anymore. I read that Wilshere was playing well, but saw he misplaced NINE passes. Yikes. Fuck this sports season. Cowboys, Mavs, Arsenal all suck dick.
They won't fire him, if things don't markedly improve he will fall on his own sword next May.
Judging by the reputation system someone didn't agree with my previous Wenger musing, unless it was a ManUtd fan upset about the RedFace stuff
I honestly think he is on the verge of having enough, the backstage political crap can't be helping at all and there must be some reason the alleged treasure chests full of cash aren't being spent on world class names. It's possibly the catch 22 situation, the bigger names see players leaving instead of joining so they don't want to join at the tail end of their run in the sun. Top class squad additions aren't joining so the players are getting itchy feet. Rinse/repeat. Then again the Wenger of old might have been able to convince them to join anyway.
I love the chap and his Invincibles team will never be forgotten but I just personally believe his story is almost over and I'd rather he went out with some dignity than for things to get even worse. I had to watch my boyhood hero Mr Clough stumble drunkenly out of the game almost taking Forest with him.
Now if Mourinho wants a real challenge he should go to Highbury instead of OT where success is guaranteed. Okay, maybe not.
I will say I'm glad to see the level of discussion has been pretty decent so far, the civility has been far higher than the end of the previous thread and there's been a nice spread of teams getting talked about. Long may it continue!
I'm a Gunner through and through. I just, can't really stand our squad right now. I like Wegner, it's not really him. The club, iirc, is noting in saying they're saving for the future and trying to build their youth squad. That's... alright I guess. And, on topic of the Invincibles... my god, could one have a more favorite team? Every player on that roster was epic and legendary. I first started watching the EPL in like 02 or 03, and my first game was an Arsenal match. I was hooked. The fluidity with which they all played was so perfect. But, now, we just blow. We can't score and we don't attack enough and we do that characteristic Arsenal triangle crap which, looks pretty, but is mind-blowingly boring. I want to see some blokes scrap and play hard like that Man City / Man U game.
Gooner fans outnumbering the Pool fans on this board.
Tis a sad day to be a Spurs fan
Pretty sure I said everything that's being said about Arsenal this time last year. Fact is they qualified for CL last season for two simple reasons:
a) Robin van Persie
b) Spurs collapse (triggered by Redknapp being linked with England job and the exhaustion of players due to Redknapps failure to rotate enough)
They have money in the bank, these cash reserves will be bolstered further by some advance payments from the new Emirates deal, therefore Wenger has to splash the cash in January to salvage their season.
Is the money available to him? Gazidis said it is.
Why hasn't he spent it yet / Will he spend it? We know Wenger is very very stubborn, often to the detriment of the team, best example = persisting with Almunia and not buying a truly World class keeper has undoubtedly cost them a trophy or two in the last 7 years. Is Wenger determined to persist with his moderate spending model as some moral crusade to show that you don't have to spend like City/Chelsea to win? Possibly
Footy Manager 13 is out tonight on IOS (definitely as it's already on the NZ appstore) and apparently Android as well.
Loads of ManUtd fans outside of London? Inconceivable!
On a happier note Lone Udinese football fan wins hearts in Italy tl;dr - Udinese away to Sampdoria in Serie A, a Udinese wine merchant in Genoa on a business trip near to the ground decides to go to the game and turned out to be the only away fan to show up.

Someone posted a screenshot on another forum I frequent yesterday of their ChampMan2013 Premiership winners list in the game by the year 2030. The league title went to either ManUtd or City every single year. Hope that's not some Nostradamus level shit going on >.<
*Is aware that's been said for 3-4 years in a row now.
Fucking shocking defending from LFC combined with Pep being flat footed, can't believe that score line and I'm sure the players are in shock with the way they've played.
Hard to make fun of Lpool with the state Arsenal is in - but this is some shocking stuff. Villa is playing much better recently though.
Looks like Manc is starting to pull away as well. Will be interesting to see if City can keep up the next 6 weeks.
Really shouldn't be losing 0-3 to Aston Villa at home
Rodgers was talking about aiming for a top 2 finish this season too
Manchester clubs are pulling away it seems now. Busy Christmas period coming up though so anything can happen
I don't think anybody would have expected this and you can't say that Villa played that well other than sitting in their box, really just some shocking defending. Fucking embarrassing.
Was at the game today, LFC just weren't incisive enough in final third, too many passes in and around the Villa box without ever looking threatening.
Okay, seeing pretty much 99% of the UK's top sports men and women do the Poznan on SPOTY just now was hilarious.
Don't give Chelsea team of the year FFS, please! (Would have said that even if they didn't lose to the samba boys today)
Messi has 90 goals this year.... Insane numbers. Greatest professional athlete in the world.
Meh. If the best athletes in the USA played soccer, it would be a powerhouse. Instead it's mostly made up of latinos and hipsters who go to fringe colleges.
LeBron > Messi
So that's 12-7 over the last two Arsenal vs Reading games!
Shows how horrible most of the Premiership is this season that Arsenal are up to 5th and only 2 points from 3rd. It's nuts a team in 3rd place is 13 points behind the leaders at this stage of the season.
Thought Cazorla was absolutely brilliant tonight, hat trick aside. Walcott needs to quit being a fucking faggot and either sign a contract or pack his shit. Wilshere managed to get his sorted in a matter of weeks, and he's infinitely more valuable to the side than Feo. I hope he signs one, but the pussy footing around is getting obnoxious.
Good win, but it was only Reading. They really are a dreadful team.
Well the US would certainly be more competitive than it is now, we have more kids play soccer than any other country in the world. And in hindsight I think most older guys that follow soccer here realize we should have continued to play it for the chance to travel the world, fuck exotic girls and get paid a shit ton of money to do so.
In real news, LFC is paying Blackpool 4m pounds for Ince /facepalm.....
We got Arsenal and Reading yesterday. God, Reading fucking sucks. Mackie just tore them a new asshole for 90 minutes in commentary.

The only way to look at it to stop getting so depressed is that sweet sweet parachute money. That is so long as your board went in eyes open and didn't have crazy deluded dreams about finishing way up the table. The current Norwich type success story is very much an outlier, staying up should be seen as an amazing bonus, not an expectation. Getting promoted, a year in the Premiership with the income and then guaranteed parachute payment should give you the solid financial base (if spent wisely) to make a second promotion bid with much more chance of success.
That was how I looked at it when Forest were flirting with promotion, I knew they'd get arse fucked almost every week but the finances would have been sorted. Now they are yet another Middle Eastern footballing plaything I have nfc what would happen when (not if!) they get some consistency going and climb the table.
Obviously I meant in paragraph one "Success" in relative terms, for probably half the division staying up is success.
I don't really see Ince adding much, Sturridge definitely can if he's on his game. The only thing that's tough is were these the only players available and is this all the money LFC is going to spend? Isco has a buyout clause of 17m and even though he's not a wide player would definitely add what we need in a creative force in the final 3rd. If we see better quality players going to other teams at the same or less money then it's just going to be /facepalm all over again.
Quote from Damian Commoli today, confirming LFC made multiple contract offers to Ince, which would have made him the highest earning non first team player.
Understandably his father had concerns about Hodgsons shit style of football suiting his son, hence why he didn't sign.
Champions league Last 16 draw made today
Real Madrid vs Man Utd - Ronaldo returns to Old Trafford for the first time since his move. What a game this would be.
Arsenal vs Bayern Munich - Probably the other of the two first seeded teams that Arsenal didn't want to draw alongside Barca. Tough tie.
I have high hopes for that Madrid v United series. Maybe Vidic will get injured again to guarantee some 10 goal games. It's also interesting how many second tier teams got paired against each other. Might only take one upset to get some virgin blood in the finals.
Apparently they did a test draw a couple of days before and it came out exactly the same as todays. Weird.
They will score. The goal threat United possess is a real problem for teams this season, RM will definitely worry on this but certainly know they can score vs the obviously shaky record. But! Vidic is back now, hopefully in the next 2 months he will turn into the worldclass brickwall that he is usually capable of being, destroying all aerial threats that have been plaguing the team this season. Ronaldo will certainly be fired up for the occasion, he certainly doesn't go quiet in big games.. ahh can't wait.
Always have to love when club officials basically state they are screwed, the quotes coming out of the AC Milan people would seem to piss off any fan they have. I get that it will take a Chelsea type miracle to get past Barca, that doesn't mean you should cry about it, not very sporting.
When RM visit Old Trafford it will give the directors a chance to speak to Mourinho and nail down what he will do in the time between him leaving RM at the end of the season and RedFace finally buggering off. Maybe he'll pop up at PSG for a season or two and add a French title to his collection while he's waiting.
What's happened to Passenger? He must be very happy with life with Barca so far ahead in Spain this season even with a hospitalised coach.
If the CB's hold and anchor the defense, the goals against dropped drastically once Pique/Puyol came back, we might see the strongest Barca so far. The offense is quite a bit stronger than recent years due to being more direct fairly often. There are still games when things are off but when they click, it is absolutely devastating since the attacks come from everywhere. Watching A.Madrid get lit up after 40min when Barca was completely and utterly outplayed was fun. The 2nd half was quite brutal. I think after this game Messi is on his 5-6th consecutive brace and basically has the Ballon d'Or on lock. A month or two ago it was still a pretty close race but recently the gap just got massive again. Messi is currently on 113 goals+assists for 2012 vs. C.Ronaldo who is on 76 and in 2nd place ahead of Zlatan.
After checking the schedules again, if both Barca and RM make it to the Copa del Rey semi's, RM's schedule including the tie against Man Utd will be as follows: Barca - Man United (H) - Barca - Man United (A) - Barca, quite the fun few weeks.

So now the Sturridge deal is looking iffy due to agent fees. ESPN had an article on his stats up and he actually shoots just as much as Suarez at the same accuracy. Maybe this would be a blessing in disguise?
Not sure who Arsenal is looking at signing in January, but listening to AW's presser yesterday was grim. More of "we'll sign someone only if they are an exceptional talent who can add to the squad immediately." Code for, we'll buy Messi but only for 15mil. I was hoping we'd make a push for Demba Ba - great scoring record, experienced, etc... but he's injured so much I doubt we'd pay what Newcastle want. I knew the Huntelaar crap was a load of shit - 100k a week? LOL, did he think we were Chelski? Wilshere/Cazorla don't even make that much!
Bayern was the team I was most hoping to avoid (other than Barca, obviously). I was actually praying for PSG, but what are you going to do. Don't think we stand much of a chance, but I'm really looking forward to the tie anyways. Should give a good idea of how far away we really are.
As for Walcott - if he won't accept anything under 100k a week, fucking let him leave. We've given him plenty of time to establish himself, and he simply hasn't. I'd love for him to stay because I see the potential there - but if you're paying Walcott 100k a week, and Wilshere 85k - that sets a terrible precedent. Use that money and bring in someone else. Surely Liverpool or Chelski would spend 15mil on Walcott in the summer!
Horrible viewing this morning - but a win is a win. Up to 3rd, at least for a few hours. Just need to keep picking up points and things will work themselves out. Up the Arse!
Not sure why we would spend 15m when he's out of contract in the summer, if Kenny and Comolli were still around then maybe you'd have a point......
11 males hailing from the midlands have just been forcibly anally penetrated in the Chelsea part of London.
WTF? Is this seriously the team that beat Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield?!
Sturridge will be a great signing for someone i think, pity its Liverpool. No idea why Chelsea stick with Torres rather than give him a decent run
Okay, maybe Mourinho has gone nuts or he really does want to be sacked and have a holiday for the rest of the season
tl;dr - Mourinho drops Casillas, they lose away to Malaga for the first time in 31 years anyway, now 16 points behind Barca.
I think he had to do something to try to shake up the squad as they weren't playing well even before the Malaga game. Granted dropping Casillas seems a bit rash but it certainly didn't lead to the loss on it's own.
Stoke tomorrow for LFC, always hate watching Stoke....
The RM thing is just a power struggle between some of the players and Mourinho. I have a hard time seeing Mourinho losing at that game or walking away. It would have to last a long while and translate into some more defeats for the club to drop Mourinho.
Couple that with all the political fighting going on and surely it's almost certain now he'll be looking for a new job in May.
I was bored, while waiting for the EPL games to start, so I turn on the Nottinham Forest vs Leeds game at the half-way mark and they suddenly go goal scoring crazy.
Just a bonus that it's against Leeds.
Indeed, go fuck yourself Warnock! \o/
What a crazy game that turned into. Hernandez with the winning goal on 90:00 and Fergie celebrating like a 20 year old.
Fergie shouldn't have even been on the touchline at that point, Evans played the ball into his own goal offsides or not. The shit RedFace gets away with never ceases to amaze.
Figure Mancini's time is about up at this point unless they can somehow close the gap.
That should have been called offside, no discussion.
Mike Dean was utter shit today, for both teams. He even missed one of the clearest hand balls of the season.
